I personally am amazed by how open Nintendo has been with 3rd parties. Games like Peach Ball would have never been allowed on the 3DS or any of the previous Nintendo consoles.

They probably would. Iwata-era Nintendo was never against third party support, after all, Senran Kagura originated on the 3DS. It's just the process they had back in the Wii U and 3DS days was inefficient, particularly for western developers.
