Topic: Do you think the new switch models will be announced at e3?

If the rumors are true of the switch pro and switch mini coming in 2019 what are the chances they will be revealed at e3.

To achieve something it takes more than practice it takes belief and confidence that you will succeed.

If such model(s) exist, they HAVE to be revealed at E3, IMO. Pokemon Sword and Shield will help move a lot of consoles, why not give the consumer a choice? Announce them at E3, maybe a release in the fall, and a month of "Ha, told you so!" or "I am so upset we didn't get X revision. Are they holding out for next year?" posts on Nintendo forums across the internet. Why do the announcement on a Direct when E3 is coming up and has so much attention on it already?

Not unless if the new models are being released in July or August! If they were announced at E3 and released in fall or winter, that would be a big gap where there would be a lull in console sales (not a good look for investors). Plus I don't believe Nintendo has ever announced a revision at E3 (For Example DS Lite and DSi were announced at press conferences and the New 3DS was in a Direct)

If the hype is real then E3 would be the most logical time and place. Microsoft and Sony are expected to have announcements around then too.

Hopefully, but there's no guarantee.

Nintendo might keep that genie bottled until MS or Sony reveal their plans for Xbox Scarlet and PS5.

I think it'll depend how Nintendo does E3 this year. As we've seen from the Direct era of Nintendo, hardware reveals can happen anytime:
3DS XL - Direct a few weeks after E3 2012
2DS - Press release in August 2013
New 3DS/New 3DS XL - August 2014 Direct for Japan, February 2015 Direct for NA/EU
Switch - Reveal trailer in October 2016, followed up by full reveal at January 2017 live event
New 2DS XL - Reveal trailer in April 2017

So I only think it'll be revealed at E3 if Nintendo returns back to a live show this year (don't see why they would though), otherwise I think it'll be revealed before E3 in a similar way to the New 3DS.

Anywhere between 0 and 100% guarantee.

It kinda makes sense to release new revisions since PS5 and Xbox Scarlet are around the corner. Maybe make the switch more powerful for third parties to jump even more on board. Basically make it better compete with the other two. I'm actually waiting to see what happens before I get a switch at this moment.

It’s a possibility

The original Switch has many design flaws. I didn't believe Nintendo when they insisted that they weren't planning any hardware revision. They lied to keep selling the current model like they did with the 3DS new models and when they delayed the New 3DS to sell the 3DS stock (they admitted so).

As soon as the last stock is shipped they will launch the new models, that would be announced with very little anticipation to keep selling the older model. They could announce them at E3 or release a video like they sometimes do.

This E3 will be interesting because most gamers are expecting news about the next-generation consoles by Microsoft and Sony and news about the new Switch models. Microsoft and Sony won't launch new consoles this year except One and PS4 revisions (Xbox One S All-Digital, a new Pro...), but it's likely that Nintendo will release new Switch models at short notice. If this happens, Switch will be lagging behind again in a few years and will have to focus on first-party releases.

I hope that they not only release an upgraded console, but also release better quality joycons. I already had to have mine repaired in less than 5 months.

I think they will, even if it's just what everyone is calling the "mini," and then more info on the "pro" early next year. The way things are going, the "pro" is probably just the next Switch. If they want to make any meaningful increase in power (even 4k on TV??) to perhaps get some of the big AAA games, original Switch owners will need to be left behind, so I don't know if it will just be an incremental thing.

Maybe they don't want those AAA games, but with the Switch install base so healthy and publishers actually willing to bring their stuff to Nintendo again, it would be compelling to have a mobile version of Destiny 3, Anthem, etc. Everything's driven by money.

Talk about big wind talker. Please give factual links to misleading speculations here for the rest to see? If one is going to post misleading rants one should give supporting facts for it.

@rallydefault for all the 4K those consoles can't do it. Only system so far to do 4K is a PC gaming right with SLI or Crossfire beyond that consoles can't do 4K. That is a myth at this point xbox/ps4 doing 4K is a joke. As for developers they already know where the bread and butter is and it's not xbox/ps4. For all the naysayers of the NSW doesn't need 4K to makes sales or attract Developers. All one has to do is look at ReMastered and NSW Ports to see the sales figure to know that already.

I hope so. But probably just the mini whichever one is releasing first. Don’t want to hurt OG sales. First E3 I’m actually excited for in about 7 years.

I still think introducing a new Switch model at this point will kill sales momentum.

@Mountain_Man I can't say one way or the other without seeing the new model/s. A cheap as chips clamshell portable will do crazy well this Christmas with Pokémon. Especially if they have limited edition versions. Maybe a gold one for Zelda etc. Maybe the screen will go back to needing a stylus.

Any pro model would live or die by it's games. There are plenty of games this gen that would be amazing to be playable on the go. Maybe even Cyberpunk 2077? Analogue triggers and Gamecube Virtual Console would be amazing lol (what happened to that?) So I don't see their strategy as slowing momentum, more catering to people's different preferences, so the Switch as a family of consoles' momentum continues.

I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.

Yes, i think it would be a wonderful idea for Nintendo to show off new Switch revisions. considering Animal Crossing and Pokemon have been in the handheld markets for decades. (even though Animal Crossing started N64) and now that we have Animal Crossing and Pokemon coming to a hybrid system. thoese games will sale hotcakes on a Switch Mini, because more people will want to play those games anywhere (and other games too.)

Is this post from 2013? SLI and crossfire hasn’t really been used much in a few years now. The GTX 1080 ti that released in spring 2017 does 4K 30fps in all major games and near 60fps in half of them.

There’s is a full list of games that play native 4K on the Xbox One X (released in 2017). PS4 Pro is not native 4K however.

The next gen consoles released most likely in 2020 will be 4K as the bare standard going forward.
