This is a fourm where we talk about anything and everything crash and spyro cause they're both amazing franchises that are looked down upon most hardcore nintendo fans sadly mario 64 i played when i was seven and i played spyro reignited on switch when i was 12 and i think three spyro games are better crash is also great sure it has more dated design flaws but the core platforming is so intoxicating those flaws don't change my opinion crash and spyro are easily my favourite gaming trilogies even though i'm mainly a hardcore nintendo fan both these trilogies are platforming bliss.
@vikgamer168 i 'm looking forward to the new crash game, it's been a while since I played any crash games, last one I played was on gamecube.i hope it's as good as the first crash games.
Had never played either series but always wanted to. Got the Crash trilogy and completed all three, but didn't really care for it that much. Definitely not enough to warrant getting the fourth, even if it comes to Switch. Recently purchased the Spyro trilogy which definitely looks better to me, but haven't gotten around to playing it yet. Will make a nice change of pace one I finally finish Bioshock which I bought at the same time and wanted to play more.
@Xyphon22 yeah for most people they like one franchise it's either crash or spyro i love them both the same but i'm sure you'll like spyro spyro 1 is my favourite of the trilogy cause of it's emphasis on platforming, combat and exploration if you find spyro 1 boring spyro 2 and 3 has got you covered with npc's and stuff but i just like spyro 1 cause it is exactly what i'm looking for in a 3d collecthathon platformer and is one of my favourite games of all time if you want something that is just as good if not better than 3d mario spyro's definitley got you covered
to spice up the conversation i've listed some questions you guys can answer:
1. what's the best trilogy
2.rank the spyro games
3.rank the crash games
4. your honest thoughts on crash 4
I'll take Spyro over Crash any day, but I still enjoyed playing through the Crash trilogy. For the Crash trilogy, 3 would be my favorite, followed by 2 and then 1. The first game really shows its age in the level designs and somewhat in the controls and in my opinion hasn't aged well even with a fresh coat of paint.
For the Spyro trilogy games, I'd probably go Spyro 2 as my favorite, then Spyro 1, then Spyro 3 (the skateboarding controls and hit detection...make it stop lol).
@rallydefault yeah i think i prefer spyro even if it's by the slightest amount in my opinion i'd rank the crash trilogy from 2,1,3 yeah i know everyone puts 1 at their least favourite but for me at least the vehicles in warped just feel tedious and nowhere near as fun as the core gameplay and i looked it up 53% of crash 3 warped are vehicle levels crash 2 in my opinion is the perfect crash game for now at least crash 4 looks extremely promising for me crash 2 had what i liked about crash 1 times 1000x it's core platforming was better than ever in crash 2 for spyro i'd rank it spyro 1,3,2 spyro 1 is one of my favourite games of all time with it's heavy emphasis on platforming, combat and exploration with no backtracking at all which many collecthathons seem to struggle doing and the completionist journey is satisfying and rewarding i feel it's sequels strayed a bit far from what i loved about spyro 1 with 2 and 3 having heavy emphasis on minigames and taking the biggest step back in my opinion with the meaningless backtracking in spyro 2 for simple things spyro 3 handles backtracking way better with better minigames in my opinion the trilogy overall is excellent
actually i sorta changed my opinion on what my favourite spyro game is for me it's year of the dragon after replaying it i've really come to love it's characters and variety of fun minigames/and this might be a suprise but i love the skateboard missions and i find ripto's rage to have the most tedious minigames and almost every playable character keeps that core combat, platforming and exploration and even then the spyro gameplay is better than ever with you having to use spacial awareness and stuff spyro 1 is still in my top 10 favourite games but i think that spyro 3 is in my top 3 favourite games of all time
@Tendo64 i can see where you're coming from but banjo tooie and dk 64 feel bloated in my opinion and i vastly prefer how spyro has bitesized stages that take 10-20 minutes to complete rather than 9 huge stages that take longer to complete and spyro 3 and 2 can take just as much time to fully complete as banjo kazooie you should try replaying the trilogy and see what i mean
@Tendo64 no offense, but your really alone in your opinion. DK64 and the Banjo games were nothing short of a collectathon to be fun. I’ve never played Spyro, but it can’t be worse then the games you mentioned.
@Apportal yeah you gotta try spyro i personally think the trilogy is the best collecthathon platformers out there and i played mario 64 before this so no biast here i think mario established the genre banjo kazooie refined it and spyro perfected it ten fold i love crash but i personally think spyro is easier to replay and more relaxing
@Tendo64 i mean if you've never played spyro you can't really judge it i used to be a blinded nintendo fanboy until i played spyro and crash i still love nintendo tho
