I wouldn't argue that these are religious games, but as a gamer who cycled through titles like Radiant Silvergun, Ikaruga and Shiren the Wanderer, I will tell you unreservedly that you need something very close to ardent religious faith to persist in the face of the defeats one is handed.

I once caught myself staring at a blank wall for some indefinite time, listening to the Cryptic Rock Valley theme on repeat, after losing a treasure hoard I'd built up in the first Shiren game over months.

The doctor says that this is called "dissociation". ... Maybe I'll go back to the woods one day and dig up my copy from the place where I buried it.

I'm still not sure if I'll bring it back home or burn it.

No. There's a lot of games that gets into all sorts of religions. Pokemon gets into Shinto religion. Upin & Ipin is Islam religion to my credit when I downloaded that game this past June I did not know that other wise I wouldn't have downloaded it. I thought cute kids game. Also I did ask about the game on this forum before downloading the game & not a single person could tell me anything about it glad I bought it on sale verses paying full price ironically & it doesn't mention the religion in the game at all but more so in the cartoon series on YouTube. Tried doing a deeper dive to figure it out. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ We had all the Lord of ring games for ps2 they were my dad's I sold them to half price books mainly not a lord of the rings fan personally but my dad liked it when he was alive. I asked about Christian games because I'm half Christian half Catholic although if you asked my dad he would say Christian all the way. I also like clean cut games I know that's unpopular & has been for eons but just what I like the same as people like final fantasy, zelda shin Megami Tensei etc. 🤷‍♀️ If a person is Christian wouldn't it make sense to play Christian games granted not all the time you have variety. I play Mario & DK right along side the Christian games both then on the 90's & now. Only difference we didn't have the Internet or computer back then at least not at my house~ 🤷‍♀️🤣

@Barbiegurl777 what do you mean by

Just what I said the whole cartoon series is about Islam. I asked questions on this forum long before I downloaded the game asking what the game was about & no one said anything. Then I saw it on sale in the eshop & figured to me it looked like a kiddie game then after I played it for a bit I started really doing a deeper dive & found the cartoon series on YouTube but it was after I downloaded the game & had been playing it for a while. The cartoon makes it obvious but in the game itself is ironically clean cut. It doesn't mention religion it has mini games about cooking, bike riding, swimming, spinning tops, RC cars, & going into a haunted house in the middle of the woods. Figured since I paid for it might as well finish the game. I unlocked everything. The Pin Pin Pom Quest is set up almost exactly like Aladdin. Just saying if I had known in advance I probably wouldn't have downloaded it. I like kiddie games on game consoles & handhelds going all the back to the original NES when I was little in the early 90's. So for me thought it was just another kiddie game like Barbie, dora the explorer etc. I did like the game just not what is represent's as for Islam religion. I did ask on this forum BEFORE downloading the game what is was about no one bothered to say anything. 🤷‍♀️ You can't be held accountable for something if you don't know which I didn't. 🤷‍♀️

If you scroll to page 2 of Nintendo switch forum you'll see I made a thread back in May called Upin & Ipin Nintendo switch?

@Barbiegurl777 There's nothing to hold you accountable for. It's perfectly ok to enjoy media that depicts or stems from other religions and cultures. Christians don't live in a bubble.

I know. 🤷‍♀️

@Uncle_Franklin

I know that but I couldn't tell my dad that. In the 90's when my dad was raising me Christian & my grandparents were raising me catholic on my biological mom's side of the family I tried to learn from both religions as much as possible & I liked both. I told my dad both religions worship the same God. I think it annoyed him that I watched EWTN on TV both as a kid & now as a adult I was told: Why are you watching that that's the Catholic channel. I just like it & still do. My grandma on my biological mom's side in the early 2000's when she was babysitting me got me to watch Mother Angelica Live with her. I got a kick out of out & still watch it even though both her & mother Angelica have passed away. It's a nice memory I remember my grandma when I watch it. 🤷‍♀️

Kingdom Come: Deliverence - game is based on 1:1 history in the 1500s I think. Might be wrong on the century. Game is steeped in Catholicism.

I checked out the gameplay. I don't normally do M rated games but it does look interesting. Going to get it later this month getting Sesame Street & Bluey Happy Snaps but do plan on getting this later. Thanks~ 👍

Btw, from all feedbacks here, not many Christian games for Switch.
Other users gave some suggestion about other religions themed games and you didn't click with those games.
Just curious, why suddenly you want to know how many Christian games for Switch?
Btw, you can put JESUS Mii for Mii games on Switch and call it "Christian games" because JESUS appeared on Mii games. 🤭

I was curious about it for a while but debated with myself weather or not to ask on here because I know that's a touchy subject for a lot gamers in general but have played Christian games in the past going back to the original NES in the early 90's then just made me wonder if there were any Christian games for the Nintendo switch in general. The old expression: Curiosity killed the cat~ 😉😂😂 Being curious is just ironically apart of my personality~ 🤷‍♀️ I was debating asking several questions on here in all seriousness but the last couple of times in other threads it ended up in an argument to where I was close to deleting my account a second time for a while. I want to ask stuff then question in my mind whether or not to anymore so... 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I can't ask my dad since he kicked the bucket this year. I'm the only one at my house who plays video games. So it's either ask questions on here or don't ask anyone because there's no one to actually ask about this stuff in general. 🤦‍♀️

The thing you have to remember that your gaming references can be very niche, just like my gaming references too.
And talking about religion themed games, not every developer want to make kind of games like that since religion is very sensitive topic and it can lead into controversy if the games have something that accidentally insulting the religion community.
If you can't find a lot of Christian games on Switch, why don't you make by yourself from other games like Miitopia, Tomodachi Life, Animal Crossing New Horizons?
You can literally put JESUS Mii for Mii games and pretend JESUS is get involved in the games.
You can build Christian Church for your house or villager house or doing photoshoot at Harv Island and make narrative story about church activity from the photoshoot you did. Even you can portraying JESUS walking on water or Moses split the sea from ACNH. Creativity will lead you there.
Hopefully this suggestion will help you.

@Anti-Matter

Your right. It definitely is a sensitive topic. True we all have different gaming preferences it's all cool. I still have animal crossing new horizons Nintendo switch but haven't played it in several years. I don't do miitopia but appreciate the thought. Tomodachi I'm still debating on getting. I liked the 3ds version when it came out but remember getting bored with it really quickly. I might try animal crossing again if for nothing else my birthday in November. It feels like sometimes my birthday is forgotten & I'm the only one remembering it like a few years ago my cousin wanted to take me out for my birthday but not until February. I agreed to it but felt like on the back burner. Since 15 I made it a point to buy a present for myself that way even if it's myself at least someone remembers even if it's myself. 🤷‍♀️ I celebrate my birthday in animal crossing, neko tomo. I think there's a few other games that do that as well but not sure.

@Barbiegurl777 I don't know any games that are really Christian like what you're looking for, but like a few or whatever number of people have brought up here, I can recommend you other games I have enjoyed personally!

I'm Catholic in religion, and I play a lot of games which are family friendly and which wouldn't be opposite of what I worship. Couple of them and another title in particular are RPGs, and they're perfectly fine to play too. (Wonder how many other people play games of different genres that are clean too.)

I would say what I have in common with stories towards my own faith is the idea of hanging onto hope till the end. Trust has been another virtue in stories I understand too from my faith as well. I feel like its also shaped me as a person. Same when it came to some games I have played too.

Because of that, I've never really thought of looking for other things Christian like you have said previously. Don't get me wrong me though, I've enjoyed Narnia and the Lord of the Rings (First book when it comes to the latter. Haven’t read the other novels in the series. The movies I would have to think about more at the moment to give you an opinion.)

If my point of view has helped you any, glad I could help and would be willing to recommend you any games I have played in my time! Any games I would name to you would be safe too! Perhaps we would be able to become good friends too in the process. I may even recommend you a discord I’m part of who share the same interests as me, and are really nice people over there.

If I haven’t helped you out any, well, I’m sorry to read you haven’t found what you have been seeking. Only thing I could do is pray for you and suggest getting into game development if so desired. I even know of a couple tutorials to get you started! And I can give you advice on how to make games as well, if you would like too.

The Tomlan in my name stands for traveler of many lands. It's used to partly describe who I am as a person.

It's all cool. I appreciate the thought. I would design my own games but not super tech savvy with my autism. Ironically get with playing video games but when it comes to a computer I have very basic knowledge to the point it's embarrassing. My dad was heavily into lord of the rings with all the movies & had the ps2 games along with. I also watched the chronicles of Narnia movies when they came on dvd. Are they supposed to be abstract? It was hard for me to follow the storylines even though I know there Christian movies. Tried to like them but kept getting lost on the storylines at the time. I did get the DS games of Narnia hoping I would better understand through gameplay back then just had me even more confused lol. I do very few RPG's but will look into them on the eshop. To give an idea of some RPG's I have played I adored Neko Tomo it's about 2 talking kitty cats granted all in Japanese. I used Google translate on my phone to translate the whole game. Stuff like that~ 🤷‍♀️😂😂😂✌️

I appreciate the thought but I don't play Zelda games at regardless of what Nintendo system it's on. I did once as a rental from blockbuster in the early 90's on the original NES & was automatically turned off. I did try to like the game but the more I tried to play it the more I got bored with it & it was for a full hour. I do have a question though: Do you know anything about the Nintendo switch games:

Chants of Sennaar Nintendo switch & Kingdom Come Deliverance Nintendo switch? Feel like I'm going down a deeper rabbit hole with finding other maybe christians games. Thinking going to get Kingdom come Deliverance not thrilled with the M rating but looks good non the less. Thanks in advance for any advice on either title just found the chant one today on Google. 🤷‍♀️✌️

@Barbiegurl777 I’m afraid I don’t sorry.

Judging from the eShop, Chants seems to be based on the tale of the Tower of Babel and Kingdom Come appears to be centered more around the idea of being a medieval knight. I get the feeling both would be very tangentially related to Christianism as opposed of being outwardly religious in nature.

Out of the two, I assume Chants would be the most appropriate for your taste in gaming. Kingdom Come seems to be heavy on violence and sexual content, judging by the age rating.

Uhhh I had a funny feeling there was a reason for M rating just wasn't sure what per-say. I do like the idea of medieval ironically though lol. Thanks anyways~ 🤷‍♀️✌️ Going to keep digging online a bit more & see if I pull up any other games in question. 🤷‍♀️ I know the Nintendo switch has a vast library of games. 🤷‍♀️🤣

What's a Christian game anyway?

I feel some games like Dragon Quest XI mentioned here wear Christianity like a skin, but don't have the meaning. Sure, they talk about benediction, confession (i.e., save game) and have what looks like a baptism ceremony, but the underlying mythology is that everybody is reincarnated from leaves of a flying tree deity. There are religious-sounding spells (Saint's Ascension, Divine Intervention) and weapons (Sacred Spear, Divine Dagger), but ultimately it's fantasy stuff in a fantasy religion. If it's just a skin, I won't get too excited about religious symbols in a game. I don't want Jesus and Mary to show up as combatants in a JRPG battle.

I don't know if there are actually really good games that are overtly Christian. For example, "Faith: the Unholy Trinity" looks pretty crude and pixelly (intentionally, apparently). Personally, I'd settle for allowing sincere Christian belief to be realistically portrayed without ridicule. That's why I'm impressed with Pentiment (gratuitous foul language aside) which, though authored by an agnostic, depicts sincere religious belief.
