Game is releasing pretty soon. Haven’t seen hardly anyone talk about it. It’ll be nice getting a proper arcade racer on Switch, finally. GRID Autosport was much appreciated, but it was more sim than arcade racer. In fact, I don’t really need a dozen different arcade racers on Switch. I would just play the best one anyways and this is the best one. This is the one I wanted.
It’s also confirmed 1080p 60fps which is nice. Quality ports always shine on the Switch. Shoddy ports or games with severe downgrades can be depressing. So it’s nice seeing games like this that are a perfect fit for the power of the system being brought over.

@JaxonH I will get it too. I was watching them playing it on the first hour on GINX Esports tv a few months ago looks very good. Burn out games are always have good.the racing in them. it's brilliant.
I will get it eventually but at $50 its just way too much for something that's regularly 5 bucks on other platforms. I thoroughly enjoyed it on the PS3 so I'm looking forward to getting back into it once I can catch a sale!
@JaxonH I adore Horizon Chase Turbo, but I'm totally down for this - day one
most likely. I never played this and haven't played a Burnout game in a long time. I've been wanting a Need for Speed, but I'll definitely take this. Bring on the mayhem!

I think I will get it bc I love this type of game. And... I know it won't make a difference, but I hope that if this game does well, EA will consider Madden.
Really enjoyed Burnout 2 all the way back on the Cube, although things have certainly moved on a way since then. If it comes out of the porting process smoothly, I’ll certainly be interested it it. I’m in a similar camp of not needing a million games in a single genre, and the only racer I own is Mario Kart, which is... well, it’s Mario Kart. There’s not a huge amount of overlap by the looks of things.
If anyone purchases this game physically, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if there's a day-one patch, and if so how large is the download. Thanks.

Those are great games. I particularly enjoyed Horizon Chase Turbo.
But they are retro graphics indies. So when I say proper, I mean a proper, full fledged, modern entry with open areas to drive around.
@JasmineDragon
Ya that game was awesome. Probably the best throwback retro racer I’ve ever played. It’s really hard going back to the classics after playing Horizon Chase Turbo.
Games like this are in a different league though, I would say. They have a gameplay premise that the older games just couldn’t realize. The open area racing. Kinda like Forza Horizons. Which, to this day I think Forza Horizons is the best there is in the arcade racer genre, but I don’t think we’re ever going to see that on Switch. I’d say this is the next best thing.
Played some yesterday and it’s great. I like how there’s multiple objectives at every intersection. You just hold the gas and brake at the same time at any intersection and it starts a race, or a takedown challenge, or stunt challenge to score a certain number of points in a given time frame... a lot of freedom. But to be brutally honest I think it’s just fun racing around the city without any particular objective in mind. I mean, there are like 50 billboards to find and smash, shortcuts to find, gas stations and auto repair services to find, etc, so you never feel like you don’t have a goal or something to do on the side.
Graphics look good. No complaints. You can notice the dynamic rest dropping at certain points to keep the frame rate at 60 but it’s been fine. Having that 60 FPS is nice though. I appreciate that they prioritized that for this release. Not that I think it wouldn’t be OK at 30. Totally think it would be fine if they had it locked. But it’s a nice bonus that they went above and beyond.

I have not. I’m generally not a fan of Free To Play Games, and though I will tolerate some of them, ones with timers and limited use stuff are kinda in the No Bueno zone for me. I do hear the core gameplay is great in Asphalt though.
I’ll say this. Aside from Forza Horizons, this is probably my favorite modern arcade racer. And even then, this game is much more Arcady. It scratches an itch that even Forza Horizons doesn’t quite scratch, even if it’s technically the better series. You should really watch some gameplay to get a feel for what kind of game it is.

That's what I do- just drive around and listen to the music. I have no clue what I am doing yet. I traded in some old Wii U games and got this for $31... Still overpriced considering I could have gotten it on Xbox, but I think worth it for the Switch.
@JaxonH Having open areas.does not make a Arcade Racer. Games like Horizon Chase Turbo, Daytona USA, Top Gear, Forza Horizon, Burnout and Project Gotham Racing are all Arcade Racers. What makes an arcade racer is the fact that the details are toned way down. You don't go in as great of details like when upgrading a car for example like say in Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport.

Was checking out the game on Steam, since I only have the original on there. It’s $5 for Burnout Remastered. But then I saw the reviews.
Buggy and unplayable. Crashes on intro (remove all usb to get past that one), crashes on pause, Xbox controller laggy (works only wired, but triggers intro crash again). Completely unplayable. Look on boards, tons of errors, even more different solutions
Idk how many times I watched the unskippabke intro video only to have the game crash... Intried every troubleshooting option under the sun... nothing. EA has trashed this game. Don’t get it. Don’t bother.
There’s more, too. On and on and on. It also requires the EA account with Origin to launch even though it’s through Steam. Which, a lot of games do now but is still bogus.
I’m glad we got such a great release on Switch after reading that.
@Tasuki
I didn’t say open areas “made it an arcade racer” nor did I say those other games weren’t arcade racers.
I encourage you to go back and reread my post, because your entire response is to things that I never even said or argued in the first place.
What I was saying is that it’s nice to get a proper, big budget, non-retro, non-indie arcade racer with the scope to actually incorporate an open world (not that the open world is the determining characteristic that makes it part of the genre).

I would say the number one distinction between an arcade racer and a sim racer is the way the cars handle and the sense of speed. Project Gotham Racing cars handle fairly realistically and don't have an exaggerated sense of speed, so I'd put that series on the sim side of the line personally.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
