@Mr-Fuggles777 You can articulate your opinion all you want, but because the contents of your message are negative, it means u are spiteful, & not that u have taste. Maybe this might rub you the wrong way, but there's not a lot of diversity of opinion among these folk, I became a fan (a big one anyway) of Nintendo in the Wii U days, the days that people call dire, I'd trade a lot for that Nintendo, the one whose President had great integrity, & their 1st party line ups were killer, & the systems were feature-rich. I got rid of my switch for pennies on the dollar, & it felt good. Im investing in GameCube, Wii, Wii U, N64 & whatever else, u can get those games for a 1/3 or 4th the price on eBay (or Nintendo eshop), & their better.

@jump it'd be nice for Ninty to be losing again, they'd have to get creative.

Yea, I guess for me I'd say it's a bit of a slump. Although there are still some games I want to get (Crash 4 and maybe Bravely Default 2). I think gaming in general is kind of in a slump right now, though. I'm just not excited about anything from the Big Three at the moment.

And I'm not a Monster Hunter fan, so yea. I think you can pretty much divide answers between MH fans or not lol

The Switch, much like pretty much any other Nintendo system as of late, has had a lot of times like this where there just isn't much of significance first party-wise for long stretches of time. You'd think you'd get used to it after a while, but you still expect better.

This time there is and has been a pandemic so I can understand the lack of content. The February Direct was decent enough, really. At least they ended with a brand new game.

BOTW2 and Pokemon Legends Arceus are both SUPER exciting titles for me, and in the meantime I have a pretty large backlog of both first party and third party titles to get someday, along with the newly announced Great Ace Attorney collection (neither of which games in the collection I have ever played). Of course, that isn't Switch exclusive, but I'll be getting it on the Switch. So, I'm okay for now.

It was in a bit of a slump into recently. Persona 5 Strikers, eventhough it's not exclusive, and Monster Hunter: Rise brought me back. Especially MH Rise, never really played that series of games but happy I gave Rise a shot. Definitely worth it if you're looking for something on Switch.

The whole world has been in a slump! Pretty sure it's a false narrative that they are getting complacent. Speed golf in Mario Golf looks amazing!

@Harmonie @GrailUK I’m of the opinion that games that have came out this year have been relatively uninteresting throughout all gaming platforms. Because games that released in 2020 had their development done, or almost done, by the time coronavirus hit, repercussions just amounted to a few delays here and there.

This year, games that intended to release in 2021 at least had a chunk of their development under COVID so that also means quality and general polish would decrease slightly. Indie studios of course suffer less because most devs are used to working remotely anyway. But in addition to delays games also have less shine.

@TheJGG It's apparent in games like Bravely Default II, where in which the game feels entirely rushed in the later half of it's story due to getting hit hard from the pandemic. Monster Hunter Rise isn't even safe, but.. at least they're publishing updates to add more to the game and finish it.

I feel like some of the others releasing this year will be better off, hopefully.

@TheJGG Bowser's Fury and Monster Hunter have been an incredible start to any console's year lol. It's difficult to say what impact Covid has had, but I see your point. Most of what I have been playing are older games from my backlog haha so I can't say I have noticed a lack of shine, if I'm honest.

@VoidofLight I’d rather not use coivd to gloss over games that lack features/polish as we don’t actually know how it was effected and it could have been like that anyway regardless of coivd. Plus it will never end like Balan was a Mario beater until coivd rushed it, Cyberpunk was okay to be released in its state because of coivd etc.

Ultimately the games were released in the state it was released in because they were happy enough with it.

@jump I mean, with Bravely Default II, it's apparent that's the case. The team itself is fully capable of delivering a quality story, as they've done it before without any problems.

Really? I had no idea Bravely Default II had been completely compromised story wise @VoidofLight. That goes to show how important it was to Nintendo that that game came out on time, if nerfing the second half of the game’s story potential was a conscious choice. I’m really not a fan of what CD Projekt Red and Capcom have done with their games at launch, namely releasing them at limited strength and adding major content updates over time. That defeats the whole point of, for Cyberpunk, delaying the whole damn game. It would make sense for a game like Animal Crossing, which is seasonal and needs appropriate content, but for Monster Hunter? No.

@GrailUK I agree, as far as the year has gone those two games have been very good for Nintendo content wise. They’re both games with surprising depth. That of course is then and now is now, so soon it’ll be time to focus on E3 and what Nintendo and co have this time

@VoidofLight Admittingly I don't know enough about game development or Bravely Default 2 to truly comment but games take years to develop with the last year heavily focussing on polishing the game's performance and translating it rather than the story plus it goes gold months before it's release to allow time for physical production of the games. So coivd would have not affected the story as much as you think it would.

Even good developers have created duds every now and then and I vaguely remember BD2 has a different director from the first two games. I just don't like the idea of every game in 2020 and 2021 having people assumed it would have been better if it wasn't coivd when they were happy for the games to be released in that state.

Also Balan would have been a Mario beater if it wasn't for coivd! ;p

For me personally the Switch is far from being in a slump.
I bought it last January, so I have four years worth of software releases available.
Not only that, since it's my first real Nintendo "home" console, I can discover NES and SNES games I never played in my life and I don't care about WiiU ports.

@GrailUK that's why I didn't buy it, I'd buy bowsers fury standalone but I'm not rebuying 3d world for it.
