I've just started playing in 2p co-op mode on one console so we share the island. I've received some basic DIY recipes after turning in fish and bug specimen to Nook in the first hours of the game. Player 2 was unable to this, so didn't receive the DYI recipes (e.g. axe). In the meantime the museum is opened but we haven't had time to test anything with that.
Can anyone tell me if and how p2 will get the recipes and makes the same progress?
@toiletduck player 2 is limited in what they can do. You can craft them for player 2 atm. They should have a session with Tom nook too. The shop should have some also.
I played with my son in coop all the time when the game came out to introduce him to the game. I can only confirm what @ronniego said. At the start the second player buys the diys for the tools in the shop. The diys you get for the items for the first new villager houses or other story related diys the second player learns way later from baloon diys, the crafting villagers or from the message in the bottle. The second player makes no real progress unless he sometimes also plays alone.
@BrittGOAL14@Gret8888 Not sure if you have these recipes but I have those for flat garden rock, gold armor, and wooden simple bed. I know all 3 of them already, do you want them?
