@jamesnl You're right about damselfly. Some of the bug info for SH I had was wrong and thought I fixed it all but missed that one. No fireflies here till December though.
@BenAV there is different info on different sites about when / where critters are available. I will still be playing the game this time next year so should i miss any this time round.... (:
What's up with meteor showers? Isabelle announced yesterday morning that there would be meteors in the sky. Celeste was wandering around my island last night, but in over an hour of play, I didn't see a single shooting star. I even stood at the back of my island just staring at the sky for 20-minutes, and nothing. Is my game bugged or something?
@jamesnl I feel like my island is well suited for additional buildings. My plaza is directly out front of the airport, villager houses are tightly placed around the plaza, and all the shops/buildings are around them. A majority of my island is forest/woods. It gives the feeling that my "town" is not my "island" and there is much of the "island" left for developement.
When I first started I thought that rather than spreading around the houses like previous Animal Crossing games, the houses they could be placed near each other to create that feeling.
@jamesnl Once I get done with my massive house moving project, I am also going to start in on getting my rocks to spawn in one area! (:

@Mountain_Man Meteor showers that are announced mean that the amount/rate of the shooting stars will be drastically higher than normal. It is possible to see shooting stars on nights without the announcement of a meteor shower or Celesete visiting on any night with no clouds. Shooting starts typically come in groups of 4. If you hear the 1st and are able to react fast enough you can get all of them but it is fine if you miss the 1st one and get the next few in the group.
My guess is that there may have been a few clouds left in the sky when you were waiting for the meteor shower.
@Lard_Bucket Any time I have gotten a meteor shower (which has only been a few times) it has never been announced. @Mountain_Man I had Celeste one night and no meteors for me either so I totally understand your frustration! I even logged out completely, waited a couple of hours and got back on. Watched that damn sky for at least an hour and nothing! I love this game so much, but I hate how inconsistent certain aspects are ): I just keep hopping my luck will change soon and I will get some meteor showers as well visits from CJ and Flick since its been even a bit before the latest update since they have been on my island.

Nope. I had clear skies, and I kept an eye out for shooting stars the whole time I was playing. I didn't see a single one in over an hour.

Ah, speaking of Flick, he visited my island the other day, but it was raining, so there were hardly any insects about!
@foxyflimflam@Mountain_Man Yes, shooting stars are all about chance/probability. The only requirement is night time during a periord with no clouds at all. It is possible that the real meteor shower was set to start after you had logged off. If either of you has had difficulty getting star fragments, I have more than I need and can spare a few.
@BenAV the football fish are quite easy to catch. So you shouldn’t have to spend too long. I was on a nook island once and all the fish were football fishes. The tanks light is the fish themselves. It’s a nice touch. Good luck

@Lard_Bucket Thank you for the offer! I will definitely take you up on that if I continue this unlucky streak of no meteor showers! (:

@meeto_1 Got Damselfly (the mystery island I went to had no other bugs so they were everywhere) and bitterling out of the way at least. I'm sure the rest won't take long, except for maybe tarantula which will have to wait till at least tomorrow considering it's 3:35am here so they'll be gone in 25 mins.
@BenAV today’s my final chance to get one more tarantula for a flick sculpture. I ordered a tuna from CJ expecting it to be huge and it was sooo tiny. Really disappointed. Aaron got a statue of an Atlas moth and its Huuuuge. The game is so confused sometimes. Haha.
