Topic: Animal Crossing: New Horizons

@Lard_Bucket Yup. That happened to me last week. Bitten twice in one night on two different islands. Behind a cliff/tree.

I'm still loving this game and playing daily. The last big update was great! But man, the more I play the more I realize there are some painfully obvious optimizations that the game really needs. When buying things, why are we limited to 1 or 5 at a time?! Seriously?! Why can't Timmy/Tommy just say "Customization kits? How many would you like?" Then you put in a number and they tell you the total.

On a slightly more complex note, I wish "hit-boxes" for items were more accurate. It's much better than New Leaf but still kind of clunky with obviously a lot of space that should be usable. And why can't we stack some items 3 high? I can't think of a good reason.

Then we also can't make paths smooth against diagonal bridges or the edges of staircases. Why not? Why can't we put the paths to the edge of the museum entrance the same way we can with villager homes?

All that said, I don't want to sound like I don't like the game, it's just the opposite! I love it! The only other games I ever put as many hours in in a single month on Switch so far, were Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Pokemon Shield.

On another note, was anyone else blown back by the cost of some of the items in the shop post-upgrade? I expected items in the 20k-50k range, but there are items costing over 100k! I'm curious if there are any even more expensive now.

Been super overwhelmed with wanting to make some major layout changes after getting my 5 star rating! I hate tearing up everything I worked so hard on, but I guess that is all part of the experience, right!? I keep telling myself this, and yet, it's tearing me apart undoing the 300+ hours of work I have put into it thus far! Anyone else feel more frustrated than liberated when it comes to all the options and possibilities on what you can do with your island, or is this just me? Lol

@foxyflimflam I have five stars, but I have a feeling my island isn’t the best it could be. I’m not sure whether I should work around what I’ve got, or completely move everything. There is also two bits of land that I just don’t know what to do with...

I have yet to hit 5 star, been at 4 star for weeks. I got very bored and unhappy my island layout, so I tore down more than half of what I completes, moved all buildings, trees, hundreds of flowers so many times, I sometimes wonder if it’s all worth the aggravation. In the end, it is, as long as it makes me happy and I’m enjoying the end result when I attempt and succeed to create something I believe looks even better than I imagined or thought I could possibly create as I am not the creative artist in the family.

@foxyflimflam Not limited per say, but I totally understand not wanting to tear apart something you put hours and hours into. There are a few places on my island that I kinda want to redo but at the same time are my favorite parts of the island... If I did it, it would be a major project that would probably demand several days of play or more of reworking.

I’ve just thought of this great idea for my island, but if I put it into action, I’ll have to cut down a few trees and possibly lose my five star rating. I’m not sure whether I should do it or not.

@Gret8888 I wish I could, but I am 22 weeks pregnant so prob not the best idea! 🤣 I will, however, enjoy a nice big glass of juice while you sip your wine! Going to just dive in and hope it turns out how I am envisioning!!!!

@Ronniego sounds good. We are both on UK time so should be easy enough to coordinate. Let me know what time works for you. I’m quite flexible at the moment.

I don't know if I'll be getting the game this week or the next one, but I finally ordered it. I hope to play with all of you soon, this is my first Animal Crossing game.

Anyone have any spare bamboo DIY? I'm will to pay in bells or nook mile tickets. Or my limited selection of hybrid flowers.

@Heavyarms55 oh. It just seemed that whenever there’s a bottle on the beach or a villager crafting, it always seems to be more nature themed (flower wreathes, fruit rugs) but maybe it’s just chance.

@cooldude99 I mean it could be. I don't have actual data. But others have said the same.

I just want more bamboo stuff... lol

I am also looking for the Ironwood Dresser DIY. I need it for 2 other items I want to make. >.<
