Blathers isnt mentioning the art at all, just th usual donation, assess fossil stuff.
Is it possible you simply missed it? When I talked to him today, I just sort of glazed over the dialog thinking it was the usual Blathers preamble until I realized he was saying more than usual, so I stopped to read and saw that he mentioned wanting to open an art wing and to bring him a piece of authentic art. I think this dialog only happens once, so if you're in the habit of quickly skipping the opening speech, he may have said it without you noticing.

One of my villagers is crafting Leaf (part of a plant you hold in your mouth as clothing accessory)

@cooldude99 I just did mine on the 20th ( character's b-day ) when you come out of your house, one of the villager will ask you to follow, then u go to their house and celebrate, blowing candles and hitting Piñata for cupcake to pass to those who are not in the house celebrating with you for gift. There are 3 in the house, the rest depend how many villagers you have on the island.
My Brain, eyes, and fingers are not team player. They don't coordinate with each other.
