Topic: About digitally purchased games vs. eShop game removal

Hi,

I have a question to which I cannot get a straight answer for anywhere on the web.

Let's consider this scenario:

"I've purchased a game digitally on the eShop, let's call it "Ninja Turtles". I completed it, then deleted it from the SD card to make some room. After a while, I now want to play the game again, but then I hear on different sites that the game has been removed from sale on the eShop because the licence contract has ended, as it often happens for games like "Ninja Turtles" after a while."

My question is :

Considering I purchased the game while the licence was valid, will the game still be available for me to download on the eShop, even tho it's been pulled from the store? Or will I be denied redownloading the game forever?

Thanks,

Y

Tasuki

You will still be able to download it if you bought it. I have TMNT Arcade and The Simpsons Arcade on my Xbox 360 and can still download them if I delete.

Just no new purchase can be made is all.

On Sony's various platforms, games you purchased digitally before they were delisted can be re-downloaded. I'd be surprised if Nintendo didn't offer the same.

@gauthieryannick you can redownload purchased software. You can even do this on the Wii

@gauthieryannick To bolster what's said above, if a game is pulled from eshop, when you open eshop, go to your account, where the wish list is, there is a tab option for "Redownload" - every game you've purchased & deleted should be in there, available for redownload.

Side note: When Nintendo pulls a game from eshop, they appear to only disable access the game's eshop page via normal searching. (If you had this game in your wish list, you can still access the game's page from there, but you won't be able to buy it until Nintendo reactivates the game fro sale.)

Eel

As a direct Switch example, I am still able to redownload "Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition" perfectly fine.

That version of the game was removed from sale quite some time ago.

Interestingly, the dlc for that is still available for purchase.

@Ninfan the op is talking about this because they are unsure about it and want answers from fellow gamers. It’s a forum.

@Ninfan every once in a long while, a game on eshop gets pulled, like, a developer changes publishing companies, and they put sales on pause until the issue is resolved. So the game's eshop page gets pulled from eshop temporarily until they establish a new publisher.

The op wondered, if they bought the game& deleted it.... could they still redownload the game if the game got pulled from eshop? The answer is, yes. The game can still be redownloaded from the eshop redownload page.(you can find the redownload page tab when you look up your eshop wish list.)
