We could possibly get a new Super Smash Bros game next year. but i would say Nintendo should port Super Smash Bros For Wii U on switch 2 because it would make since because Super Smash Bros For Wii U is still fresh and feels new and it could benefit from getting a switch 2 port along-side new content like few new levels and the 3DS levels and new characters. A Port of Super Smash Bros For Wii U is likely than a brand new game because game development takes alot of time nowadays.
Why would they port the Wii U game when Smash Ultimate exists? Smash Ultimate is literally just Smash for Wii U but with additional content for the most part.

@Joeynator3000 There is a fair point that Smash could use some sort of holdover game while they work on Smash 6 since it's a fair assumption that isn't coming anytime soon. All of Nintendo's biggest IPs have at least something of that caliber now, even the IPs that don't have a legitimate new entry on Switch 2 at least have some kind of port, remake, or spinoff present. Except Smash, which has jack right now. Now I don't think a port of Smash U is the solution (I'm more leaning towards Ultimate S2E), but I feel like they should throw Smash fans a bone right now, even if it's not the big Smash 6 the fanbase wants. Holdover titles are becoming even more important now with dev times as long as they are.
I dunno why this is even a question...Nintendo would even dream of doing such a heretic action. each Samsh Bros game is different from each other. They're not exactly the same across the board. Not trying to be rude here...but they rather go for new entries over ports...except maybe for NSO in the case for Smash Bros. 64 & Melee...

This would be a weird idea regardless but I'm even more against it because I really didn't that into Smash 4. Every single decision it made about single player content was seemingly the wrong one, even when the idea was good and fun. And I never appreciated the Gamecube controller more than when I didn't have the adapter for this version (which is why I made sure to get it for Ultimate). And Ultimate has very much replaced this for me anyway.
I still have the thought that a Switch 2 Edition of Ultimate with a good amount of new content and a new Fighter's Pass is all that really needs to happen and that the best idea for a new one is to make a 3D Smash Bros instead.
It's a weird idea, for sure, but Nintendo just gave Mario Kart 8 a free update for the Switch 2, in spite of there already being a dedicated sequel for the console, so it's not like strange and seemingly out-of-order things can't happen.
I just don't think it's that likely. Either following on from the Switch 2 game or making a new one seem far more likely directions to take.
