Topic: Switch 2 - a year on - has it been worth it?

Well, the entire concept of this thread is pretty dumb, so to me it seems like comedic justice to have devolved into a discussion equally as dumb.

The way tech pricing is going buying a Switch 2 early is likely the best choice. Here in the UK the Xbox Series X is going up to £670, it launched at £500 and there has been one in-between price increase I think. There is likely a Switch 2 price increase in the New Year almost certain for European buyers due to the new revision which may feature a far superior Sharp LCD panel. The expected price increase is around £50/60 euros. I bought a wii u at launch. I enjoyed playing my wii games on it and a few early games but 18 months in some really fantastic games started coming out. It was a fantastic console. I dread to think what the OLED version of the Switch 2 console will cost which they are working on. It feels like it could be £600 here. The increase in technology pricing is far beyond normal inflation.

So I think you can make the case even if you don't think its worth it yet it may still be worth it because of the money you are saving over future pricing and when much more games are available. However I do accept that Nintendo is focusing a bit more on the Switch 1 now as it realises selling Switch 2 will be more difficult at higher pricing but many Switch 2 projects are in the works so will come out whether the console sells huge numbers or not. Same as wii u with many fantastic games despite the slow sales of the console.

Here in the US it's a no-brainer to buy one before the September price increase if you have any inkling you may want one in the next couple years.

@SuperEndriu @Pizzamorg It's true that a lot of Switch 2 releases have been ports of PS4 era games, but Ive been really impressed with the more recent releases. Games like Resident Evil Requiem, Assassin's Creed Shadows, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Pragmata are all fantastic on Switch 2. Sure you can see the cuts if you compare them with other version, but they are still great ways to play these games and I don't feel like you're getting a lesser experience by choosing to play the Switch 2 version over the PC or other consoles, which wasn't always the case on the original Switch.

It's not like with the original Switch where you could immediately look at a screenshot and instantly know it's from the Switch version of a game.

The Switch 2 version of Assassin's Creed Shadows compares favourably to other versions I think.
