Same here guess we were forced to walk the plank and got nothing for it.

I love that signing up within an hour, having 8+ years of NSO family plan and expansion pack, having data shared with Nintendo, and having thousands of hours on the Switch somehow DOESN'T get me in the first wave of preorders

Who was able to then? Nintendo is really screwing this up and pissing people off. I'd love to get a preorder elsewhere, but it is impossible, and I'm not going to habitually refresh the store pages of each retailer for hours on end

It's probably that there were too many people who met such high criteria such as yourself, so amongst that group there probably were variables like who played the most or who registered earliest (probably measured down to the tiniest second), as well as perhaps some randomness amongst this group.

I was just reading the Nintendo investor q&a that came out today, and they said demand for these preorders far exceeded demand and due to switch 2's high price they didn't necessarily think it would match switchs pace at first. But it is, maybe surpassing too. So maybe even with the criteria, so many people are eligible that it still leaves some very hardcore fans out.

They also said during this q&a that they don't anticipate trouble producing NS2s, so hopefully that means the channel will get new consoles quickly once they sell out after launch.

I also have yet to get an invite, I'm still expecting that it'll be 2026 before mine arrives based on everything we're hearing. Sounds like they won't be able to keep up with demand.

It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't reassure us that they had a plan to combat scalpers and that the plan was to "Make sure everyone who wants a Switch 2 can get a Switch 2"

Well, they failed spectacularly, to the point where it is obvious that this "plan" was nothing but PR speak

I'm think their plan in the US was kinda screwed by Trump's tariff debacle, which is something Nintendo couldn't have predicted. Here in Europe anyone with a NSO account can now preorder the Switch 2 from Nintendo's online store, there's no invite needed anymore, so they don't seem to have a shortage of consoles available in the EU area.

@Sine It definitely doesn't seem like just PR speak. Based on shipment data, we're looking at 4-5.6x as much launch stock as there was for the initial Switch (The first month global sales for that were 1.5 million according to articles at the time, Bloomberg suggests 6-8 million units at launch for the successor). That's a massive increase, I can see why they were confident.

For comparison, PS5 launch was 3.4 million units, PS4 launch was 2.1 million units, Wii U was 1.32 million units, Xbox One was about 2 million units (I haven't seen any data on XBS(S|X) launch). This is by and away the largest console launch in recent memory, and likely ever.
