@topsekret agreed, I have already pre ordered the game physically for switch 2
Alongside fire emblem games, I really enjoy having trails fully on cartridge,

I do remember hearing that falcom will only support the switch 1 for about 2 years from 2025 and then fully transition to switch 2, when this happens we really must hope that falcom puts their games physically on switch 2 because from 2028 onwards the switch 2 will probably be the last platform players can buy falcom games physically for, if they listen to fans and put their stuff fully on cart on switch 2:

I just really hope that the last few games in the Trails series get genuine physicals so that if I really like the series (which I want to get into next year with Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter), I can own it all physically. If they did 13 games with physicals, and just stopped at the last few, that would just be really depressing. I would most likely switch to playing them on GOG at that point.

@topsekret
I already have mine preordered!

(I LOVED 1st Chapter - it was my first Trials game, too.)

It will be interesting to see since from what i gather the ones which are GKC are ones where the switch 2 port was third party iirc (With horizon and the crossbell games it seems)

@Mgalens, its fascinating because trails sky 2nd chapter is fully physical on switch 2 and Falcom developed that game themselves for switch 1/2,
Trails beyond the horizon is nis america's port and its gkc, I think its dependant on the company who ports these games to the switch 2.

Falcom are really promoting their games on the switch 1/2, in japan because trails sky 1st chapter is coming to nso:

@topsekret trails games on switch 1/2 is worth every penny/dollar imo because these games are excellent, trails sky 1st chapter was my favourite switch 2 game last year.
The sequel is excellent too with a very good story.

Amazon is good and bad when it comes to preorders: they don't charge you until it ships. Sometimes I prefer that, but other times I'd rather just pay up front and months later get a "free" game lol

With the whole thing of Dragon quest XI on switch 2 not supporting saves from the switch 1 version it does have me doubly curious regarding Zero/Azure since it feels like a roll of the dice at this point (the sonic Frontiers switch 2 one iirc does support save transfer)

Also curious if its been mentioned if this is based on the PH3/Durante one, i imagine so since the port looks to be handled by NiSa which would be nice for playstation owners who didnt get the enhancements on the ps4 version, though i also seem to remember reading something about being able to choose between the enhanced textures or not which didnt seem to be an option in the original switch version (it was the new textures by default) Also curious how 120fps works out on TVs which dont support it (unless its a game with a toggle for that)

Again not been up to date with those versions of the games outside of them having 120hz support and mouse mode (i imagine PC supports mouse by default despite the games originally being PSP as opposed to sky)

While I highly recommend GOG for a variety of reasons, and that includes Falcom support. . . sadly GOG currently does not sell the remake of Trails in the Sky. Whether this is a temporary affair due to Gungho wanting to prioritize other platforms, or a permanent change in policy on the part of Falcom's localization partner? Unknown. I am keeping my fingers crossed, because GOG is the best PC storefront and their support for Falcom has been extensive.

@Mgalens I did ask some fans on reddit about this game and how the mouse controls will work in the switch 2 game: mouse mode in pc version can be used to play 100% of the game, so it will probably be the same for switch 2,

I personally think its worth waiting for a sale to pick up these up again because they are literally 90% same game as switch 1 version but with no upgrade path,

It would have been better to port trails games Nintendo players don't have have access to such as cold steel 1 and 2 and improving the ports of cold steel 3 and 4.

Also the first review for kyoto xanadu is out in China and it says the game is about 30 hours long.

Oh yeah it did feel odd that the first switch 2 ports of older games were the ones which were running fine already (still, more trails is more trails and maybe will lead to some of the others getting them)

though going by impressions of the switch 2 Horizons port it does feel exciting if these theoretical ports of prior games end up to that quality.

Lack of upgrade path is definitely unfortunate, especially in older games (like the recent sonic frontiers and upcoming DQXI one, especially with the latter not even having save support apparently)
