@jump thing is i think they are right, there are FAR too many Pokemon now so the whole "Gotta Catch em All" thing is virtually impossible anyway especially when there are Pokemon they don't actually put in the games

point is 800+ is too many so having a smaller pool actually gives people a chance to actually catch all the ones in this game, yeah it might not be EVERY Pokemon out there but do we really need 800 especially as many of them are basically the same as others anyway, foe example Charmander and Cyndaquil might look different but other than that they have very similar move sets and stats, they are both Fire types and are pretty interchangeable

do we really need 200 fire type Pokemon that are basically the same

I'm not sure how that relates to your original complaints about changing up the game? That sounds more likely you're not keen of having so many generic Pokémon rather than effectively cutting Pokémon from the games which is different. One is about not being impressed with the creators ability to create interesting additional Pokémon in which case it's just as effective to not add so many new Pokémon to keep the dex interesting as a form of quality control, the other one is short cut game making. Keep in mind the Pokémon games are massive sellers, there's multiple versions of the same game, it's merch to death etc they are fairly cheap on game development compared to games that sell similar numbers to them.

You can keep the new Pokes in the adventure part of the game which has always been the case and the post game gives you the option to bring the others for the metagame. Even if you think this fire type is the same as the other one there is still implications on egg moves, breeding etc which is important to hardcore fans of the series.

People have unrealistic expectation. A studio can't make thousands of different 3D models for one game.

They already have made them, the have been using the same Poke models since the 3DS games and upscaling them for HD.

No. It doesn't work that way. If you think making a HD game is just upscaling models you have no idea what you're talking about.

Take it up with game makers who have already said they have gone to that effort so the 3DS poke models can be used in future gens.

@jump @bitleman Just for clarification. They aren't ''upscaling'' the 3DS models. If anything, they used downscaled models for the 3DS games. They [Creatures Inc.] made high quality models starting with gen 6, and they've been using them ever since. They are the same models as those in Pokemon GO for example. They didn't look as good on the 3DS with a lower resolution and different shaders applied, but they're all the same.

Why would they include all Pokémon in one game when historically people will still buy it anyway?

That's a peculiar comment to make, Imagine playing FIFA and they decide to cut the Spanish league out. This is something I see Ninty fans call out on other publishers quite a lot on.

Cutting content because of the belief name value will sell regardless has led to fan backlash before and whilst day one sales would be unaffected by it the lifetime sales and brand reputation however could be harmed. A big part of the post game is the meta game of breeding teams, completing the dex etc so with that now being limited it could see people deciding to sell the game on creating more pre-owned copies for it than in the past gens which takes away from retail sales.

@jump I mean, Let’s go only had 153 in it. 😂
Can’t really be cut content if it wasn’t planned to begin with, though. I mean, I completely understand the frustration. But it’s not something Pokémon fans can truly be shocked about.

Pokémon Lets Go was also the worst selling new gen/console entry so far

@jump it’s really not, though. 10 mil puts it over all console entries, all but one spinoff (mystery dungeon 1), and BW2, US/UM, Crystal, and Emerald. Not bad for another title that got tons of folks “upset”.
In all, S/S is gonna be just fine with or without all the ice cream cones and chandeliers

It's literally is the worst selling of the new consoles games. It's at least 5+ million short from the other first gen entries. Whilst the game wasn't a flop saying it did better than Crystal is a very low bar to jump.

What's really weird is you can't transfer all of the Lets Go pokes into Sword & Shield as some of them have been cut from SS.

Personally, I can understand why Gamefreak is proceeding with their new policy, since it was an inevitably especially with their release schedule. My main concern at this point is how Pokemon you wish to transfer in the future may essentially just be locked away in Pokemon Home waiting for the eventual game that Gamefreak will allow them to be usable. Not something I'm used to for this franchise.

Not everyone want to complete their Pokedex.
Some peoples only interested with certain Pokemons and completely ignore the not interesting looking Pokemons.

To be clear we're talking about the number of dislikes PER VIEW which is more a measure of viewer engagement than "hatred". Also it's not clear what trailer this is for but for context here are the like:dislike ratios for some trailers for these games on their official channels from during E3:

Commander Keen - 1:8
Elder Scrolls Legends - 1:3
Battletoads - 1:2
Contra Rougue Corps - 2:1
Shenmue 3 - 2:1
Project Scarlett - 10:1
Pokemon S&S - 24:1
Halo Infinite - 33:1
Link's Awakening - 86: 1
Cyberpunk 2077 - 87: 1
Animal Crossing - 116: 1
BotW Sequel - 172: 1

HobbitGamer

@skywake That can’t possibly be accurate. Commander Keen should be 1:9000

But your point about engagement is an important one. I know I personally don’t use the like/dislike things on YouTube.

@skywake It was the Treehouse Live segment where the incomplete transfer announcement was made, 17k likes vs. 53k dislikes.

@Grumblevolcano
Fair call, still only 1:3 which is quite a bit short of the Commander Keen trailer. And given the relatively positive reaction to other content for Pokemon calling it the "most hated" is pretty misleading

Nonsense is what it is. Let's Go isn't even close to being a flop, it outsold half of the mainline games.

I never called it a flop and out of the 17 mainline entries it's the 12th best selling which is not half.

Casuals won't probably even think twice that not all Pokémon are in the game, and I'm sure casuals stands for like 90% of sales.
