Not much of a surprise considering how large the Pokémon franchise is and how big the news was.

Legal threats that have gone nowhere: 1

That can't be right. Commander Keen ought to be the most hated by a wide margin.

It's abhorrent what they've done to him.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

So immature to see gamers like that.
A wrath toward "Kiddie Monster battle game" with missing some features ??
Oh, please..... 🙄
I didn't even feel upset for missing some contents, as long the game is still playable.

@Silly_G The whole time they showed CK I just kept thinking the same. Next maybe they’ll ruin the Chex game. The worst part is they acted so pleased with themselves.

OT, Is this even worth a brand new forum thread? 🙄

Typical of the fanbase if it's not them shouting for changes because "the series is getting stale" they are shouting because they made changes and they "want it to be like it used to be"

it's even worse than the FINAL FANTASY fan base who do the exact same thing

"I pity you. You just don't get it at all...there's not a thing I don't cherish!"

"Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!

@Silly_G There's a new Keen game coming? Goes to YouTube Shouldn't have done that. It would've been better if I never knew this existed.

It's its, not it's.

It's not "want it to be like it used to be" tho, by not including all the Pokes it's gonna mess up the competitive/meta game which is a big thing for Poke-fans. The changes aren't introduced to change up the gameplay which has becoming stale in the single player adventure, it's a short cut to not include them. The game use to be sold on the catchphrase "gotta catch them all" which is literally impossible now.

Keep in mind when Pokémon Bank was introduced it was with the promise that even though you're going to pay for this service it will future proof so you will always be able to transfer them over which hasn't been the case.

The Cycle:
1)Group of people bring up legitimate issues/concerns with the quality or the state of something
2)Group gains traction and more presence/awareness
3) Other people start getting annoyed by their presence
4) Newer people start joining and some smaller groups take things too far.
5) Group that was annoyed target smaller groups to disregard larger point.
6) Discourse turns into a game of me’s/mine and of antagonism and victimization.
*Possible 7) Original point is lost and little is done

Which ever game, team or what ever is the most popular or successful always has the most haters. It's kinda like (US)football. Who is the most successful and hated football team in the last decade in America? You guessed it the New England Patriots.

Let's be real, it isn't the most hated game of E3. It just has the most hated development decision.

The game is quite lovely otherwise with the wild area and the gym leader being big appealing points. It shouldn't be completely dragged by this, and considering the replies on every single damn tweet of Nintendo's (even unrelated to pokemon) is #bringbacknationaldex, I'm going to go ahead and use the often thrown around word of entitled. How bout just take it as a standalone game? Nah, of course not, the history has to be taken account after all! Give it a break...

If you wanna complain, go do it to your own damn company. Go to the Pokemon company or Gamefreak, get away from the positivity of us other Nintendo fans (except those still complaining about the Animal Crossing delay... ugh).

People might think I'm childish for my picture, and I am.
Favorite games: Super Mario Odyssey, Super Metroid, Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption, and Sonic Generations
If you like Kirby, then you are a person I can trust.

Luna_110

The most hated game should be that mobile game Ubisoft is using to resurrect Sam Fisher instead of a bona fide Splinter Cell.

As for Pokémon.... there’s a lot of backlash, but the Pokémon fandom can be extremely toxic when they want to be.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

That’s a little melodramatic, isn’t it?

The catchphrase was retired ages ago, and the last time you could “catch them all!” (In a single pair of games) was in generation one. After that it became “gotta transfer them all to a different game!”.

And the promise of future proofing your Pokémon is still there, the bank won’t delete the Pokémon that can’t be transferred, and the individual species won’t be retired forever.

Not really, collecting Pokes has always been a key driving force and trademark of the gameplay. That specific catchphrase may not have been continued with the other games but they have always promoted it.

Pokémon Bank is going to replaced by Pokémon Home, which is kinda telling that their solution isn't actually future proofing the games but creating temp solutions, which you have to pay for. I'm sure they will do the Mega Sword and Alpha Shield editions which will be the same game with a few bits more of post-game content plus all the missing Pokes because they know that's what people want but it's taken the 3rd set of this gen games to get there.

My main concern is ultimately this shortcutting which will have a knock on effect on the metagame, and also I want my shiny tech Scizor for battles!

I really don't buy this mentality of you can't criticize something as it makes you hater/entitled. It seems people are just throwing those labels out to refute people's reactions to it rather than discussing what the issues behind it are.

People have unrealistic expectation. A studio can't make thousands of different 3D models for one game. Persona 5 had much less different demons than SMT4 Apocalypse but it was still a great game.

They already have made them, the have been using the same Poke models since the 3DS games and upscaling them for HD.

@jump thing is i think they are right, there are FAR too many Pokemon now so the whole "Gotta Catch em All" thing is virtually impossible anyway especially when there are Pokemon they don't actually put in the games

point is 800+ is too many so having a smaller pool actually gives people a chance to actually catch all the ones in this game, yeah it might not be EVERY Pokemon out there but do we really need 800 especially as many of them are basically the same as others anyway, foe example Charmander and Cyndaquil might look different but other than that they have very similar move sets and stats, they are both Fire types and are pretty interchangeable

do we really need 200 fire type Pokemon that are basically the same

@FullbringIchigo
I think it was pretty ironic with "Gotta Catch'em All" slogan since Generation 1 when you cannot even get Mew by normally.
And you will never able to get Missable Pokemons such as Keldeo, Darkrai, Archeus, etc without getting during events or transfer from other player.

Anti-Matter

FullbringIchigo

@Anti-Matter in the UK you was lucky if they got distributed at all

of course there was always that one person at school that had Mew and would say "yeah you can get it from under that Truck if you use strength on it"

or in other words "i used a cheat device and got it"

"I pity you. You just don't get it at all...there's not a thing I don't cherish!"

No. It doesn't work that way. If you think making a HD game is just upscaling models you have no idea what you're talking about.
