What type of animal is Sonic the Hedgehog? I feel like it should be obvious in the name, but IDK is he some type of shrew? I really need to know.

He's definitely a porcupine. Obviously.

He's a chinchilla with some killer fur gel.

He is an echidna, albeit an unusually blue one. Sonic is so loathed in Australia that he is the face of our 5 cent piece, symbolising his worthlessness to the video game industry.

Read again the title.
Sonic the HEDGEHOG.
He is a HEDGEHOG or PORCUPINE.
He is Not a Wolf / Fox / Mouse / Armadillo / Speedy Gonzales (Yihaaa...! Arriba...!)

Hedgehogs can swim unlike Sonic the Hedgehog. So definitely not a hedgehog, but he could be a porcupine, troll or elephant

I thought Bing Bong from Inside Out Disney Pixar was half Elephant half Dolphin half Riley's imagination.

ok, the difference between a porcupine and a hedgehog in REAL LIFE is porcupines is about the size of a large cat, a hedghog...a large mouse, porcupines quills are long, thin and break off when they stick an enemy, hedgehogs quills are short, smooth and they stay

as for Sonic, he is a hedgehog, as established in games, shows and comics, he was never a mouse and the only echidna in the series was Knuckles i believe,

I have been around since the begining of the game series, the shows and the comics, he may not look it, but he is, END OF DEBATE,

btw, I realize most of the comments are sarcastic, mine was not however, Jesus help

I saw a video of a mountain lion attacking a porcupine once, I laughed throughout the whole thing, the porcupine just waddled along ignoring the mountain lion as it kept swatting and trying to bite it, but kept getting quills in its feet and mouth (that you could see piercing its cheeks, but the porc. just kept ignoring it, finally after about 8 minutes and several dozen facial and foot quills, the mountain lion finally just said screw this and gave up

it was hilarious, wish I could find it again, there was a few different vids of the same type of attacks, from various predators, but that was my favorite because that lion just would not give up, LOL
