Just looking to upgrade to a oled. I would need to trade my current switch in so I would need to do it somewhere like GameStop.

Edit: I am based in the US if that helps.

@blindsquarel If anyone has more recent knowledge, by all means share. My experience was relevent up until mid January, but that was still on the cusp of the holiday season.

I landed two OLEDs in december. After I landed one for a christmas gift, I realized it wasn't too tough to find one, and found another one for myself. So, I don't think you need to settle for scalper prices.

For december and early january, Target & Best Buy were only sellling them in-store. The OLED pages on their sites usually didn't offer them for online-sale, only could show you which local stores had stock. I don't know if that's still the deal now, though. So, take my recommendations with a grain of salt, in case they the stores have changed their selling methods since the holiday season. Back then, if you opened an OLED page on their site, and went to edit/change store, it would show you which stores in your area had stock. And that's how you'd find one to buy. If best buy's OLED page says SOLD OUT, it seems you can trust your local stores don't have stock at the moment.

If you can't find the OLED's page on store websites, then google the store + oled console to get a link to the OLED page. Sometimes when consoles aren't in-stock for online sale, you can't find the page otherwise.

I landed one OLED at Target when they opened - their website showed my local store had stock. And I got one OLED at Best Buy, the website showed my local store had stock.

If the a store website said they had stock, but OLEDS weren't visible in-store, definitely ask an employee to check stock for you. Sometimes the consoles weren't on the floor yet.

And you can also use nowinstock dot net to see console stock history for amazon and gamestop, walmart (although, walmart had issues with third party sellers sending out already opened consoles. So, my trust in walmart is shot for the time being - beware). Nowinstock only keeps track of when they sell online. So, even when best buy and target websites showed stock at my local stores, nowinstock did not keep track of that. https://www.nowinstock.net/videogaming/consoles/nintendoswitch/

Also, beware GameStop site often defaults to selling you a refurbished console. Be sure NEW is selected on the OLED console page to be sure you're looking at NEW stock. It's a sneaky, sketchy as hell tactic.

@legend1065blox I know they will. I have other priorities right now so I don't mind waiting. I do however check when I am at stores like Walmart, Target or Best Buy just out of curiosity.

Actually Amazon but yeah I did. Should I close the thread or just keep it up. Kinda just figured out about the forums so not sure if that is something I should do.

@blindsquarel Oh, look at me being crazy.๐Ÿ˜ I edited my post to say amazon now. You can leave the thread if you want. Someone else will probably look for an OLED, and maybe see it.

Both of Nintendo's glass cases on the sales floor of Target were FILLED with OLEDs and regular Switches. I've haven't seen those cases filled in a long time. It's possible I haven't seen them full since pandemic started. I don't want to over sell it, but that might be accurate.
