Amidst my Yo-kai Watch obsession, I am currently listening to the first anime opening song, Gera Gera Po Song by King Cream Soda.
I have technically heard this one before in the anime, but it was in the English dub, which had its lyrics in English instead of using the Japanese version, and the dubbed song was sung by different artists. Spotify doesn’t have the English dubbed version of the song (except for unofficial uploads on podcasts) but they luckily had the original Japanese version, so I took a listen to that.
It’s so catchy and I love the instrumental. I think the instrumental uses a sax? Gosh, I love how funky the sax sounds with the voice of one of the guys singing, and all the singers sound enthusiastic when singing. Probably going to be a song I’ll get obsessed with listening to alongside the many Vocaloid songs in my music library! There’s way more songs King Cream Soda sung for Yo-kai Watch, so I have those to listen to very soon!
@Pastellioli
Dude Gera Gera Po slaps. I loved the little break of silence before the second verse, it's like a confident "Oh, we're not done yet" or an encore
@MarkSeteth72 I know, right? It’s probably one of the best anime songs I have ever heard.
I am more used to hearing the English version sung by Jeff “Swampy” Marsh they used in the Disney XD dub, but I’m pretty happy that the dub kept most of the lyrics as close as they could to the Japanese version, both versions are so gosh darn catchy. The sax is literally the best part of the song and the enthusiasm the singers have is so fitting for the anime it’s used in. I’m pretty sad that the Yo-kai Watch anime didn’t do well in America.
@PapaMurphy
You my friend deserve a salute and blunt wrapped in a gold leaf! I respect your list of artist…you are definitely “on the real”. RIP MF DOOM 😩! I recently found my original cassette tape of Black Moon “Enta tha Stage!” A good friend of mine just met Nas last week so I was super jealous. There’s still some good stuff out now if you know where to look. If you looking for some nice classic MC battle raps RJ Payne is a beast! Conway the Machine, Benny the Butcher they still get down. On the female side Rhapsody been nice but def check out NoName…she a dope Mc out of Philly…it’s a nice break from all this bs cat fighting in Hip Hop these days.
@Rainz I know Rapsody yeah she's great, I've got 'Eve" on vinyl that's a great album. NoName had a blinding set at Glastonbury last year, I caught it on tv and thought wow I need to check out more of her, it was really soulful and her band were fabulous.
I had quite the tape collection too, tapes by DJ Premier, Kid Capri, stretch and bobbito and funkmaster Flex shows. I would save £100 and go to Leicester and Nottingham in the same day and go to specialist independent stores down alleys and basements and guys at the market and record fayres in town halls. I turned my back on HMV at quite a young age.
I got really into soul and funk young too, all from researching samples from the inlay notes. My dad recognised a James Brown sample on an Ice-T record and played me the original, "The Boss", and I felt awesome knowing where things came from originally, then I was fully armed if someone went "bet you don't know who did this originally eh???" and I could go yeah I do actually, Freda Payne "unhooked generation", 1970" to recall one famous example.
I live in rural north Dorset in England, and regularly enjoy a pint of stout at a local pub. They often put a hundred credits on the jukebox and you're free to help yourself. It's an old school working man's pub though, and they hate rap music. But I put on James Brown, Curtis Mayfield, Parliament, Joe Cocker... whoever. All samples used in famous rap songs. I don't annoy anyone, and I kind of get my beats on the sly hahaha 😉
New Perfume album!!!! I don’t know WTF Nakata was smoking when he produced this album but I will buy him a case.
I am praying this means US tour soon. I need to see Perfume again.
This is pulling some depache mode vibes (to me) for some songs. Also their English has improved. So far it’s another winner for me to blow my neighbors out on the weekends with (kidding I follow rules too much but my headphones will be blasting). It is a lovely bookend to PLASMA. Nakata is digging hard into the 80’s techno pop vibe. But feels smoother than the songs in PLASMA. Love that there is another "disco" song. Whenever they have a song with disco in the title it is always good.
It's time to do another Perfume Merchandise run. I'm curbing my purchases but Japan is ok. Also I'm getting old...Perfume is celebrating their 25th anniversary. They are only a few years younger than me.
Edit: Somehow I missed that May'n had a new album this year. Sigh. Yesasia bout to take all my money.

I'm a Dream Fighter. Perfume is Love, Perfume is Life.
Hip Hop friends, 2 great albums released last week.
Amerigo Gazaway and Satoru "The Sunshine LP"
Mellow beats and bars, nice catchy tunes.
Paten Locke "Dance On My Grave"
Paten Locke sadly died of lung cancer in 2019, and never really got the recognition he deserved in his lifetime. A clever rapper and quality crafter of top notch beats, I've loved all his previous releases and this one is great too. Surprisingly uplifting considering most of it was recorded after his terminal diagnosis. It was clearly finished with a lot of love from his label mates at Full Plate.
Been listening to a lot of Jerry Cantrell's latest solo record "I Want Blood". Really solid stuff in his signature style. I love how with this album he went more electric and heavier this time. His last solo record "Brighten" was such a banger I wasn't so sure he'd be able to top it so soon but I was wrong. I'm even hungrier for another Alice in Chains record then again I wouldn't mind another solo record if he keeps this up.
This fire is burning and it's out of control. It's not a problem you can stop it's Rock and Roll!!!
I was listening to Otonoke by Creepy Nuts. It’s pretty popular at the moment since it’s from an anime called Dan Da Dan and I like how funky the song sounds. I enjoy Creepy Nuts songs so much. I also like their other anime songs, being Daten and Bling-Bang-Bang-Born.

If you are curious, my favorite game of all time is Conker’s Bad Fur Day and I can’t shut up about it.
@Pastellioli I've heard of Creepy Nuts. But only because they were on the bonus round in Pointless, and I went no way are they a real band. But there you go, I was wrong haha
I cannot stop listening to this band or Carlos, but together? chef's kiss I haven't even played Deltarune lol!
Everything that has ever happened, there was once a time where it hadn't happened yet. And at that time, people might have been, like, "Yeah, but that's never happened." And then it happened. And once it's happened, you're, like, "Well, now it's happened."
