@Zuljaras regardless of which Resident Evil is better they both don't feel like Resident Evil to me, too much action and not enough horror.

@jump Yes. That is why RE7 is so cool. New characters, new virus, new setting and still it feels like a good Resident Evil game!

@PlusUltra The Castle layout was fantastic in CotM and I love the track "Awaken". But it did not have a shop, no bestiary and the connection to the main games was lost. They added it and removed it from the canon several times. The team that did it was good! I think they also did Castlevnia 64 which is also very atmospheric and good game!

But still Harmony of Dissonance gave me more nostalgia feels. You talk with Death, the collecting of Dracula's Remains, the cryptic rooms. It was the GBA version of Symphony of the Night.

Still love all Castlevania games with very few exceptions

Resident evil 5 is fun but qtes kill the experience for me and qtes and swimming kill 6 for me although the controls finally feel perfect and inventory is not the worst. Inventory and management and upgrade definitely make 5 feel like resident evil as well as the superb hit detection and enemy weakspots, but my opinion holds no water since Im a new fan only and dont feel the need or desire to try the classic playstyle. The only games I fully enjoy are revelations games especially 2.

While playing dino crisis 2 on my playstation tv recently which is the only one I played and cant say Im a fan just yet, I was reminded of capcom and resident evil. Even during dino crisis 2 they were still one the best with contol options and enemy behaviors and animations.

@Zuljaras i love the options that the shop provides in potrait of ruin. I played 1 or 2 of the other GBA games but I can only remember so much since they were not my first game and in general castlevania takes up a lot of memory on my brain drive. Lol.

I would have loved a shop to get those random card drops. One day I have to get back to SOTN. I unlocked it in the dracula x chronicles. I dislike said game much too difficult but it looks amazing, and several locations were well executed but the more durable character controls like a sack of bricks.

@thread topic. I dislike all platforming and minigame parts of viewtiful joe red hot rumble but I think the purely fighting parts are great and would love a sequel which added tons more of capcom characters and function more as a smash bros alternative.

Playing Para Para Paradise PS2 at home is way much fun than playing AAA Western games.

How do you know when you NEVER played AAA western games? I get that your opinion is UNPOPULAR but do it also have to be crap?

@PlusUltra Play Aria of Sorrow (GBA) and Dawn of Sorrow(DS). Those are not difficult and Soma controls like butter (Alucard ).

@kkslider5552000 @jump Let's be clear: it was Blow who brought up the game design point, and even then, he's still making vast generalizations without any nuance. "I DON'T LIKE JAPANESE GAMES BECAUSE THEY ALL TELL YOU WHERE TO GO" is a dumber take than what I see in most youtube comment sections, lol. Blow looks for reasons to nitpick even when Japanese games aren't like that. Go watch him play Breath of the Wild, for example: his commentary is telling about his mindset.

Phil Fish is the dude who pretty much just cuts down a questioner and his culture for the crime of being... Japanese and asking a question... I guess. And then the entire panel just laughs at him. It's disgusting, and tells me everything I need to know about these people.

As to Rowling and Whedon: Rowling has made some questionable statements over the course of her very public twitter slapfight on this issue, but I'll remind everyone that her big crime was initially criticizing the use of the phrase "people who menstruate" as a trans-inclusive synonym for women, and then for saying "sex is real" and affects how women's lives are lived.

I think her real issue is that she's fallen way down on the progressive stack by virtue of being a white woman. Nobody is slapping her back for being a pro-gay liberal feminist anymore, and she's having a hard time dealing with how the culture has evolved. She went from being a progressive icon (in her mind, anyway) to a karen, and she can't deal with that.

As has been pointed out, a LOT of people worked on Whedon's shows. Phil Fish and Jonathan Blow's games are almost entirely created by them. So it's not comparable, really. Also, Fish's jerkery is very out in the open, whereas Whedon's is hidden, so we don't get the full story there, and it's harder to make a judgment call.

I actually really like RE5. I only played 2 of the campaigns in 6 before i moved onto something else. 4 is probably still the best, RE1 is hard to get back into for me these days. The revelations games aren't far behind 4 for me. I still need to play 2, 3, 7 and CV. I did play CV a long time ago but I don't believe I even came close to finishing it.

I think dancing games are one of the few types of games I like even less than your standard AAA Western blockbuster game, lol. @Anti-Matter Props on your dedication to them, though. Playing DDR well when blindfolded is insanely impressive.

@PlusUltra You made me google some anime Still, thank you for the encouraging meme words!

@NintendoByNature You will Love 7. I myself find Resident Evil 4 on the hard side. It was a fun game but the QTE were crap and some things were trial and error like shooting the stupid trucks coming right at you.

@Zuljaras unfortunately I don't have a ps4 anymore. I'm a switch only gamer. I know it's available in the cloud version in JP right? I really dislike the cloud versions. Control and hitman weren't playable for me, so oh well. Maybe Re7 will eventually come.

@Zuljaras funnily enough the remake was my first RE experience on the cube aside from playing the original ps1 version for a little back in the day. I loved the remake when I first played it. But for some reason, today, I don't enjoy the limited amount of saves, and little ammunition. I love gunning down my zombies without a care in the world!

Edit: the remake was at that time, one of the best games I've played. Top 5 at that time.

I feel that Jim Ryan's actions as head of Playstation will eventually bring in a sizable dislike for AAA western blockbusters as people realize what kind of experiences are being cut in favour of nonstop AAA western blockbusters at $70 each. We've already seen the AAA blockbuster model for Ubisoft mostly break down with games like Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Watch Dogs Legion flopping (AC being the only one still successful).

@NintendoByNature " I love gunning down my zombies without a care in the world!" that doesn't sound like a survival Resident evil

But yeah they could have made a mode that does NOT require Ink Ribbons like they did with Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 7.
