It's weird to see the only "third game" that isn't an enhanced re-release being called the laziest one.
Fine. It's the most unpolished, then. The writing on every level felt contrived and beyond amatuerish; the changes to the map design were unnecessary and just felt either more maze-like or just slap-dash. The new mechanics & locations just felt more like filler, possibly because of how early they're presented, when most of it just felt like they were distractions that are probably better suited to the post-game, anyways. And honestly? I just felt overwhelmed by the additional Pokemon they made available during the early game.
Maybe it's just because of how good Pokemon Black & White were - I still hold that it's the best installment since Gold & Silver, plus their remakes - but I just can't help but feel like Black 2/White 2 had no reason to exist, even compared to other expanded versions like Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum. I might just wind up skipping Ultra Sun & Moon, since it sounds like the same deal as B2W2.
@CreamyDream To be fair, I actually really liked Yellow, Crystal, and Emerald. They expanded their predecessors and felt like more polished versions. Platinum still blew chunks, though. That whole gen nearly put me off the franchise, twice. A lot of little issues tend to pile on when the games are so long.
I am scared by the expectations of people who are sure that Switch could handle (at least in one way or another) all the 3rd party multiplatform games possibly made for PS4 and XOne. The Switch clearly can't do that and if straight ports will be too demanding for its power, reworked and optimized games can be too demanding for the publisher in some cases. But you see so many people who are convinced that Switch should have all the games that the other consoles have, and I fear that such blind Nintendo loving, delusional optimism could collapse on itself and damage Nintendo and Switch once people will see that this is not going to happen (because it is not going to happen, this is for sure)

Mobile gaming is trash and a cancer that is watering down and hurting the industry as a whole. It is promoting lowest common denominator game development and a horde of low quality, badly developed games. Not to mention countless blatant clones and rip offs. The trend of free to play - pay to play more - games preys on those with a tendency to get addicted to things. Furthermore the gatcha random lootbox type systems popularized by it specifically prey on those vulnerable to gambling addictions.
Also touch screen gaming is low quality, hard to control, imprecise and unintuitive

Some games really work on the smartphone level too- like Mystic Messenger when I last played it, really follows the time and stuff from your phone, and I really liked the phone-like-interface.
There's some games that will never work out in other platforms, because they are built with the smartphone idea in mind. (And while a lot of mobile games are bad, some of them are good too!)
As someone whose been slowly going through the NES' library, yeah bad games are nothing new. And mediocre at best games no one should've ever paid full price for even more so.

I agree, but more than anything I hate so much touch screen controls, I can't even find the words to express how much I hate it. I know it seems the less bad thing amongst those and probably is the less bad in fact (it is not implemented with a malevolent will to abuse customers) but I hate it so much anyway, I hate it more than anything else.

Been there, done that. You literally sound like a PC gamer from the mid-90s angry at console games and gamers for turning their beloved hobby into a shallow farce. You make me so nostalgic of my youth❤
Because of course there weren't bad games before mobile games. There weren't thousands of clones of Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Tetris, Super Mario, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Mario Kart, Doom, Tomb Raider...
And of course, if it weren't for mobile games, our beloved "industry❤" wouldn't prey on those with a tendency to get addicted to things with pre-oders, collector's editions, limited runs, toys, cardboard, collectibles, games that are not complete yet but will be completed via free updates in the years to come but you buy them anyway on day-one because you're addicted to buying games, games that you buy twice, three, four, five times because the company wouldn't go into the minimal effort of making the 25 years old .rom you purchased compatible with the new hardware, games that are more expensive in digital form than in physical form although the digital form costs way less, games that are overhyped through false advertising to preys on people's addiction to have the latest and greatest game etcetera etcetera.
Oh and of course no discussion on mobile games would be complete without calling the controls "unintuitive" because yeah, in the early days they were, but none of the "critics" has bothered to play a decent mobile game released after 2014 apparently.
But I mean, it's very funny how console gamers look down on mobile gaming exactly like PC gamers used to look down on console gaming. As a mobile gamer, I feel I need to find somebody to look down on. I heard the tamagotchi scene is quite evil.
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

@spizzamarozzi pc gamers look down on console gaming and console gamers look down on pc gamers as well, because both console gaming ad PC gaming always had their strenghts and their downsides so each one always could feel superior than the other part. One usually see the strong points of his choice and don't see the downsides because if you choose something you probably are not bothered by its downsides that much. I am a console gamer and don't like PC gaming and honestly I never felt like anybody was in the position to look down on me, I hear sometimes people talking about how inferior consoles are, I know that they probably don't even know what they are missing and I just feel sorry for them.
Since I got everyone on this site incredibly triggered by defending Sega I'm going to do it again and I don't care.
Rare was never bad and it is just a mostly biased opinion spread by Nintendo fans and those afraid of change. Also, Sea of Thieves looks down right excellent(not sure how unpopular that is but just wanted to say it).

The problem with post-Nintendo Rare is that most of the people who made Goldeneye, Donkey Kong Country etc left to create their own companies and put out some excellent titles like Timesplitters 2, it's completely accurate to say Rare wasn't the same as it wasn't the same people doing the games.
Also the head of Xbox publicly complained Rare weren't as good as they use to be since taking them over.

@jump Here it begins folks. Exactly what I was talking about.
This is an example of the I'm afraid of change approach. 'The old guard wasn't there and did something else so it all has to be bad'
Where did I say it was bad? I highlighted how Microsoft were disapointed by Rare and there was a noticeable change in Rare, you're askewing it to mean bad.
