UNDERTALE SPOILERS AHEAD! PROCEED WITH CAUTION!
Alphys' conflicts in Undertale weren't very well resolved. Allow me to go over them one by one: Alphys' manipulation of the events in Hotland:
This particular conflict wasn't resolved at all. Everyone just sort of brushes aside how Frisk's adventures in Hotland were an elaborate game for Alphys so she could feel important to Frisk's journey. Alphys' feelings for Undyne:
This particular conflict was actually resolved pretty well. Alphys makes a commitment to better herself for the sake of Undyne and everyone else she cares about. It's not a perfectly happy ending, and that's why it's a good resolution to her character arc. Alphys and the True Lab:
If I were behind Undertale, here's how I would overhaul this segment of the game:
1. This would not be part of Alphys' story. Instead, the experiments would have been conducted by the late W.D. Gaster, who quit afterward, as he couldn't live with the guilt.
2. This part of the game would be an Easter egg you unlock after the fight with Asriel.
Except the true lab was the reason she is the way she is.

I like Popplio. I don't get the hate for it I'm seeing around. I'm more surprised the boring owl is getting the attention. I guess dual type makes up for it being Hoothoot 2.
To be fair:
Litten = Litleo 2
Popplio = Seal 2
That's exactly what I was thinking/said in other places. They're all cute, and not the worst starters, but they seem to be the least original. I am sure surprised there aren't more people complaining or at least mentioning "they ran out of ideas". If that day is to ever actually arrive, it'll be hard for the Pokemon fandom to face those facts.
pointless rant;
I shouldn't be surprised. Anytime there's something simple or boring, all the children go crazy for it and bash on the stuff that actually looks good. "It's a round tiny soft owl ^__^" and now it's permanently the popular one. News sites fanning the flames as well, trying to seal the deal on it and make it a "fact" that "nobody" likes Popplio. Laaaaame.
But I also said ORAS was my last pokemon cause the 3DS games I couldn't wait to finish. Maybe the annoying fandom is the nail in the coffin for me finally. I feel disconnected from it.
I still think if I play it, I'll end up with Popplio or Litten. I fear for Noctowl 2 and 3, or cat version of Houndoom or fire Delcatty. But even Popplio could be boring, when I imagine an evo I think of Walrein.
Also the Sun legendary looks like a Pyroar mega evo a little.
I really don't understand people complaining about originality, like the Gen 1 Pokemon were so imaginative. Seel... he is a freaking seal named Seel. Grimmer and Muk are just goo. the legendary birds are just birds with exagerated features to match their type. Squirtle is a turtle. Charmander is a lizard with a fire on his tail, that is how you can tell it is a Fire pokemon. Bulbasaur has a literal plant on his back, I wonder what type of Pokemon that is... Are there really any "original" pokemon when they are supposed to be based on things people are familiar with?
A Grass-Flying pokemon, let alone that being a starting pokemon, is exciting. There are like 5 or 6 Grass-Flying pokemon and 3 of them are in the same evolution line. A Fire Cat seems like it wil be fun. Most cat pokemon have focused on the "mean" nature of cats in my opinion, this one looks to be a bit more playful. A Seal Water Pokemon... ok that is probably the least original out of the 3 starters, but at least they gave it a lot of personality in that trailer. It is obvious that it is based off of circus animals, i wonder how that will play off in its attacks and evolution line... could we be looking at the first Fairy starter? Water/Fairy could make it a very interesting Pokemon.
tl;dr Pokemon designs have never been "original" they ahve always been based off of things we are familiar with. Even if they are "running out of ideas" they still make great games and exciting adventures. It will be interesting to see what comes in S&M and future installments.

Okay, maybe I should've explained what I have against the True Lab:
The True Lab segment actually raises a really good question: "Can death be good?". This completely goes against what the entire game stands for, as the measure of someone's goodness in UnderTale seems to be how many people you didn't kill, and I love it. The problem is with the resolution. Everyone's just sort of fine with the fact that Alphys has turned their loved ones into perpetually melting zombies. She doesn't even get a punishment, she gets off scot free. This would've been especially akward seeing as Undyne would be the one to hold some sort of trial for Alphys, but no. Because Toby Fox wanted to give everyone (except maybe Asgore and Asriel) a happy ending, Alphys' terrible actions get to go completely unaccounted for.
"I'll take a potato chip... AND EAT IT!"
Light Yagami, Death Note
"Ah, the Breakfast Club soundtrack! I can't wait 'til I'm old enough to feel ways about stuff!"
Phillip J. Fry, Futurama
1. Alphys kept them a secret until now, which didn't really help her mind as it haunted her to no end.
2. The melting was completely unintentional and if I'm not mistaken, most of the monsters were volunteers.

This is an appropriate entry for one of my unpopular gaming opinions:
I hope Sun and Moon follow Black and White's lead with strict generational discipline. In BW, everything was new and exciting - no ratatta, no pidgey, no geodude, no zubat. It was glorious.
Then I went online and saw everyone complaining that they hated it. -_-

Agreed. Black and White actually reawakened my love for Pokemon. It felt so fresh and new.
Having that happen again feels like a pipe dream though. Nintendo lately doesn't seem to be one for new ideas.
Looks at Federation Force and Star Fox Zero... not sure how true that is. Mostly it seems like consumers don't want new ideas.
I don't think you will get another 150 new Pokemon, Game Freak has already commented saying they have made less new Pokemon partly because of Mega Evolutions.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
Even though Federation Force is indeed new, that doesn't mean it's creative or inventive. I'm sure it's much more creatively taxing to come up with 151 pokemon from ground up, balance them mechanically, and create a brand new region than to make a generic sci-fi coop game with subpar graphics.
Frankly it takes more creativity to branch out into a genre you have little to no experience with than to give your old ideas a lick of paint. But really, balanced? If there was balance, then there wouldn't be forbidden 'mon, moves and items, FEAR anyone? I'd also argue that the "subpar" graphics are a result of significantly aged hardware.

I wouldn't consider SFZ or FF new ideas. Star Fox Guard, Codename STEAM and Splatoon however I would and they are at the top of my favourites this gen even (though STEAM was a huge sales flop) but I agree with the orginal point of Ninty not trying new ideas much lately even though Pokemon is largely done by Gamefreak and the Pokemon Company who try far less than Nintendo do.
I really don't understand people complaining about originality, like the Gen 1 Pokemon were so imaginative. ......
Gen 1 isn't original in hindsight much, but what makes it all seem boring is that it's predictable as hell now. My point was more, you know all they're going to do is take animals and objects and turn them into Pokemon now. Anything is possible. But early on in the series, we didn't know what was going to happen or what they were going to create. There was a time when the fans looked at the series and thought they could tell what could and couldn't be Pokemon. It steals the wonderment away when you can just say anything from an ice cream, trash bag, vacuum, a germ or amoeba can be a Pokemon. There's no need to wonder or question it, anything can be. Gen 1 had the mystery surrounding it for a while. With new games, we know the entire game and every single tiny detail 6 months before the games come out. If there's a Pokemon that looks like a turd and has a special exclusive diarrhetic attack then nobody is surprised.
I'm not really against any of the new stuff, in fact Vanillite is one of my favorites, Rotom is pretty neat, whatever, but it's still less mysterious than it use to be.
I thought Yokai Watch was going to give me that old feeling back, maybe if I was a kid and didn't recognize all the little Japanese spirits already...
@Dankykong There was a reason why I didn't address you directly. Reading your "unpopular opinion" reminded me of my "unpopular opinion" that I wanted to share. Sorry if you felt like I was targeting you specifically.
Also, if you stop looking at news related to Pokemon, maybe you can recapture some of that mystery from back when we were younger and didn't spend every second attached to a device connected to the World Wide Web
Lol I didn't feel too targeted, but it seemed pointed at what I said kinda. Also I wasn't trying to come off sounding mad. I was just making a post
Eh, I don't think that'll work. I can ignore all the news and chatter but most of it is still going to be the same. What saved it for me was the graphical upgrades and the fact you're moving around a 3D figure now, not just a sprite. The new problem with ignoring the news is, when you do try and chat about it, especially here on Rumorlife, you get the poop bashed out of you for not knowing what is considered "old" news.
The game: Just came out 1 minute ago
Me: how do you ____?
Rumorlife or other forums: YOU FOOLISH HYPERBOLE we talked about that 300 pages ago when we found out about that 9 weeks ago we won't answer you ignorance go find out yourself!!!
But the other thing that's weird is, even when I try and avoid it, if I work 50+ hrs a week, if I look at one article, the whole thing is spoiled haha It is what it is.
@Dankykong I don't quite understand your point here. How does having limitless possibilities as to what could be a Pokemon make it "predictable as hell"? Is it that they've already expanded so much that nothing can surprise anymore?
For the record, I have no issue with people being bored of the new Pokemon and/or not liking their designs, as it's their opinion at the end of the day. I, like many, am just fed up of people saying stuff like "they're running out of ideas" when they clearly aren't, as many people love the new Pokemon just as much, if not more, than the old ones.
Because being reasonable is unpopular at times, my opinion is reasonable and thus likely unpopular.
Shigeru Miyamoto should totally be criticized for some of his decisions in recent years. But much as I love the guy, I've never treated him as some God. He's just a guy that's made some very notable works. Most people in their field on his level in entertainment have done far worse, more often quite frankly. But the people whining about him are such children. It comes across as nothing more than the equivalent of teenagers who just found out the world isn't perfect and thus decided EVERYTHING IS AWFUL WAAAAH.
And be more angry at people in Japan rejecting previous Paper Marios and thinking Super Paper Mario's story wasn't important. **** those people, they are bad for video games whoever they are. Probably the same people that don't buy the Zero Escape games.
What I like about Miyamoto isn't the fact that he is always right, but that he doesn't give up on looking for new ways to enjoy games. He is even willing to push for decisions other might not like in order to try something new. Which is something more designers should do.
Not trying to defend him from your guy's posts because you are right, he has made the wrong call on a few design decisions, just saying how I see it lol
While we're beating this dead horse, gamers should stop cherry picking Miyamoto's decisions and conclude that he only makes bad ones now. I'm sure he's made plenty of other decisions.

I don't really know where to put this, so I figured this might be a good place. One thing that kinda bugs me about trying to work on Game Design, is there is no exercising/practicing for it. All I hear people say is make games until you get good enough to charge for it, which is a decent way to learn but with other entertainment fields, things happen a lot faster. You want to get good at playing music, practice some songs a few times a week. You go through about a song every 5 mintues, longer if you are still learning the song, but still you can do a song in a day. Want to learn how to make movies, you can practice filming in a day. try to shoot a short story within 24 hours, it is possible.
Video Game development doesn't really have a quick way for 1 person to practice. Game Jams are normally a small team of people going 24 hours straight to produce a polished prototype, not a "complete" experience normally. I wish there was a good way where in a single day, like 8 hours, I could practice my design skills and work on something to completion. Sure there are some games that can be made in a day but they are normally hastily put together and the accomplishment is from how fast the person did it, rather than the effort they put in.
This might be an Unpopular Gaming Opinion, not really sure lol.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
