I was not fazed at all by Nintendo's recent news.

@TingLz: I agree! It is just nice to get some confirmation and not wondering what is going to happen when all the time.

That doesn't surprise me. But that game had the weirdest consistent complaint ever. People didn't like it because "it played like a PS2 game" Like WTF? Since when are PS2 games bad as a whole?

Since when are games in general from that generation bad? Did I miss something?! That is so baffling and I saw multiple people say it as a huge negative.

I always view that logic as them complaining that a brand new game from 2016, shouldn't look and feel like it's from a system 2 gens by gone and 15 years ago. Especially when we know they're able to produce not so dated feeling products.
But you're not wrong, there are plenty of PS2 games that still control/look spectacular. But the WiiU can and has done better.
I've not played Devil's Third, but it's not the first "this is like a ps2 game" complaint lol

Me either. Just aware that the end of how it is now is on the horizon, but it's not like someone rang the bell saying time to put away your WiiU or 3DS, or to panic.

On Devil's Third, dumb fun is all I'd want from it. I miss mid-tier, wacky Japanese character-action games (like No More Heroes et al), so I'd probably like it.

And I'll join that @TingLz train. On a personal level, I'm stoked that I have almost a year to finally clear out my massive backlog. On a fan level, I feel like Nintendo is smartly and deliberately gearing up for a reboot, and they're taking the time to get it right — and that's exciting.

@Freeon-Leon: I've been playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3D for a year now, still haven't beaten it. The problem for me is that there is so much to do that I keep doing the sidemissions until another game comes out, I switch to that and then forget all about XC3D for a month or two. I really should finally finish it but other games interest me more at the time being.

I see the complaints about Devil's Third being a PS2 games isn't really complaining it's a PS2 game as such but rather it's not an AAA mega budget game which people seem to be what they were expecting.

@DarthNocturnal: I have to confess that I use the wiki in order to figure out what to do with some of the sidequests since some enemies only appear at a very specific part of a single location and certain items have a very specific place where the spawn. There's even one item that appears almost only in a very specific spot at a very specific time of day! I mean, you have to pick it up at the exact right minute of the in-game clock. It's crazy. Another thing I need a guide for is where to find the NPCs. The game doesn't really make it easy when it tells me that I need to speak with X but doesn't tell me where exactly I can find them and at what time.

You shouldn't worry too much about the missable quests warning. I think there's maybe two or three points in the game where certain missions become uncompletable. I've passed only one of them and I'm over 60 hours in. However, some of the missions are missable in that you have to choose between two missions: once you complete one, you can't do the other. These missions have slightly different rewards and are usually like "This guy is in love with two girls! Help him make a decision!".

In the end I think the game maybe has too many sidequests and does not really do a great job at telling you what you should be doing. Or then I'm just too pedantic since I feel like I have to complete at least all the side-missions I can find.

Yeah, I just assumed most NPCs operate on a night / day basis and that specific times don't have too much bearing in most cases. In the case of any exceptions.... tough luck, I'll see ya in NG+ (if I ever get around to it).

Good luck trying to find [INSERT GENERIC NOPON NAME HERE] on one of the eight floors of Frontier Village!

The problem is that the NPC appear in specific spots at specific times of the day. They don't just stand around endlessly: some of them move around as well.

All the Xenoblade discussion always makes it seem like this game is too difficult and in depth to bother with. I've dabbled in XCX and I've played games for over 300 hours before that are similar but somehow this seems like it has too much ridiculous and unnecessary difficulty in there. "Find Susan!" Susan is 2000 lightyears away and only appears on the 57th minute of the 3rd hour of the 4th day of the week if it's overcast outside, and nobody explained that to me.
I suppose that's realism? Susan irl isn't gonna stand up and wait outside her house for you until you arrive but holy crap. I understand every day why this series is a turn off for people. But it isn't totally with me, I just can see both sides. The fun and the ew.

When I started XCX I already had it in my mind that there was no way I'd "100%" this, I could see finishing the story but all the sidequests, pfft yeah right. I lost 500 hours to Fallout 3 and I still had plenty of those "mission passed!" then you fail another conflicting quest. But the chatter about Xenoblade makes it sound like a complete disaster and loss of major important story if you don't do sidequests and that's a major turn off.

@DarthNocturnal: You do love throwing that word hyperbolic around don't you? You start a lot of your responses by calling people that because you disagree. It's not automatically hyperbolic because there's a part of something I'm unsure about or dislike lol. Especially not after you just backed up exactly what I was understanding from what you guys were talking about. You complain because they drag on, which I wouldn't want either. Suddenly!!! Hyperbolic!!!

In real life, I can just call Susan, ask her where she is or set up a meeting with her. Or then just ask someone if they have seen her anywhere. I don't mind realism in video games as long as it doesn't come in the way of enjoyment over the game or simplicity. The day and night cycle's effect on the NPCs makes completing sidequests complicated and that's not really a good thing.

Don't get me wrong. I really like the game. I wouldn't have come back to it so many times and played so many hours of it already if I hated it. I also wouldn't have been doing the sidequests as much as I have if I found them too annoying. I think I'm allowed to complain about a certain mechanic though when said mechanic does not make the game better.

I also don't think the game is too hard. The difficulty is fine.

Well what I was saying was that any time I check in and try to get into the XCX chat anywhere, people seem more exhausted by the length of time it takes to do things than other games. Which is tiring just reading about sometimes. I didn't mean it was too hard or that nobody wants to play it A mission taking ages doesn't mean it's difficult.
But it still feels like it was a huge build up and now there's like 10 used XCX copies in every Gamestop. Not sure what people expected overall. Maybe some great western style RPG but with anime over it.
LOL Set up a meeting with Susan over the phone or a text. I guess that's true realism.

@DarthNocturnal: The books are in their own category in your inventory. Just scroll right until you find the category marked with a book. Then just select the book and select "Learn" and that's it.

You don't use them from the art menu and when you have learned them, the books will disappear from your inventory. You wills till obviously have to level up the Arts.

Affinity is pretty complicated, I'll give you that. From what I gather talking with the villagers with a specific name given will give you affinity just like helping them out with sidequests and so on. The higher your affinity in a certain area, the more sidequests will you unlock.

I might have said this before, but I like Playstation All Stars Battle Royale. Is it as good as Smash Bros? No. There are some balance issues, the game is lacking in content, and the stages are kinda similar. But is it still fun? Yes. The "only kill with supers" concept actually plays out better than you might think, as it creates this interesting risk/reward dichotomy. I also like the dual-universe stages concept. It's really creative and makes for some visually interesting stages.

@MrMario02: Agreed. The game needs serious polish, but there's quite a lot there without being a simple Smash Bros ripoff.

That being said, the spillover between game worlds was definitely the one thing that PSASBR unequivocally did better than Smash Bros. Having the discrete untouched worlds is great, and I'd hate to see that go, but there's something to be said about the Helghast invading Parappa's hometown.

@ProfAllister: Yeah, there's something so cool about seeing the armies from Patapon attack Hades and a Metal Gear RAY attack a bunch of LocoRoco.

Ridley? Yeah, I WISH.

(Yes, I know he's a boss in the singleplayer (but not many people (including myself) care about that).

Ridley is also a stage hazard in one of the stages in Smash 4. Sure, he's still not a playable fighter but he's not singleplayer exclusive.

I think I've tried out Playstation All Stars Battle Royale once in a gaming expo and didn't really care for it much. It seems okay but it just doesn't have the charm of Smash. And this is coming from someone who had both the first and second PlayStation as a kid.

I honestly don't get the mentality of people thinking E3 is the big thing that Nintendo needs to really focus on. I mean with the increasing amount of events that are smaller and less expensive than E3, does E3 even matter anymore.

Firstly, Nintendo is now constantly announcing games every now and then thanks to directs. Sure, its not every time but for the most part, it does it right. Why on earth is releasing the NX next year along with the next Zelda game and Zelda only being shown at E3 sounds like doom and gloom when there's still lots of directs that will come shortly?

I mean if the delay is to make the wait worthwhile, then why complain. Star Fox Zero doesn't really look like its horrible or anything and it looks like a fun game and yet people still complain about it claiming its not finished.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

I get that everyone is hyped about the NX, and I'm fine with that. However, I refuse to get hyped about it until we get some concrete information. So far, most of what has been heard about it are a smattering of rumors. How many of these rumors are actually true?
