@MarioLover92 About the controllers - no, it's not that they're wireless, it's that when you turn the knob on it, you can very smoothly adjust the speed of train. In the normal controller, you have like 1, 2 or 3 preset speeds and when you turn the knob, you just switch that speed.
I sometimes travel by trains, my Japanese exam was held in one city only, so I had to take the early train, it was 1 year ago. I slept almost all the way. Going back was much more tiring as there were lots of people going back from holidays, and they had kids. Noisy kids. My muffling headphones couldn't mitigate that ruckus. People are the only thing I dislike about trains.
Do you like trains, seeing that you have been to railroad museums?
Yeah, the scent is something I would never give up on during holiday season. Scent is one of the most memory - inducing senses, they can evoke feelings you can't even remember existed. It's worth buying a real tree every year.
Yes I do have Switch! As for what games I like, it's a tricky question, I like a lot of them. Remakes of old RPGs, (like Atelier Marie or Rhapsody), new RPGs (like Xenoblade 2 or Octopath Traveler), some one-of-a-kind games like Katamari Damacy, even Visual Novels. As for Nintendo's first party, I got Mario Kart for both Wii U and Switch, Also Smash for Wii U and Smash Ultimate. I also played Splatoon since the first installment, but I grew a bit tired of it. As for my gaming library, the Nintendolife account does not reflect it well since I can't be bothered to enter each and every game I have, they are just auto added from polls.
Yeah I finished Wonder too, it was great. My personal favorites is still Odyssey, though.
Apologies for the late reply. Oh that kind of controller, yeah I have that kind as well, the one where you'd smoothly control the train's speed.
Oh gotcha... yeah that can get pretty bothersome to hear. It's all the roll of the dice that determines how crowded it gets, I guess. With you taking the early train that one time, I had a similar instance to that, but that was via plane. I was on vacation one time, and I had to get up super early to catch my flight back home. It was about 4 AM, give or take.
I do like trains, yes. Kinda hinted on that earlier, lol! That railroad museum was really nice to visit, I've been there twice as of now. My local museum has a nice model train room, as well. I've even done a Christmas drawing a few years back, with Toad riding his holiday train with presents on board. I can show that drawing to you if you want.
Oh absolutely, that kind of scent can give you a sense of nostalgia as well. I've not had a real tree for so many years... I wonder when I'll have one again.
Oh that's awesome! I like platformers and adventure games the best, and Mario Kart and Splatoon are my favorite games to play online, but I do like Smash Bros. as well. Perhaps we could play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe online together if you want to sometime. That's fine on your game collection, no worries there.
Ah yeah Super Mario Odyssey is fantastic. It was a huge reason why I got a Switch in the first place... then again, Mario's always been a huge reason why I have Nintendo consoles to begin with, lol.
@MarioLover92 C++ and C# are both object-oriented languages. But the latter is way more integrated into Microsoft's .NET environment. C++ was originally designed as an extension of C and is a lower-level language (AKA closer to the basic/core machine language and commands). C++ is also way more universal, whereas C# is higher level and is pretty much stuck on Windows for now. There are other key differences - there are plenty of articles that can explain this better than I can - but those are the ones I'm most familiar with in a nutshell.
I admittedly haven't touched my 3DS too recently either, though I'd like to pick it up again before long since I still have a backlog for it! Besides IRL, Switch and PC gaming are hogging the VG time right now. I agree, good games in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! That was pretty fun, and I'll repeat myself: I don't think I was trolled nearly as badly as last time (for the most part).
Is C# a programming language that lets you make visual programs instead of having a command prompt? I used another language called Visual Basic.NET that does let you make visual programs. My school had a class that taught it, and surprisingly I did better in it than C++. It might have to partially do with me being more of a visual learner. Plus I've never used things like MS-DOS, the first PC I've ever used was a Windows 95 machine.
Yeah same here, there are quite a few games on my 3DS that I should play before long as well, lol. The majority of my gaming time has been on Switch, and yeah, IRL is another factor for me, too. Yeah... sometimes even me can get trolled pretty hard in Mario Kart as well haha. I'm pretty good at the game, I can drift and do mini-turbos pretty well, but sometimes I keep getting hit by everyone! Oh, and the less times I talk about my own green shell hitting me, the better.
"Give yourself the gift of being joyfully you."
Favorite games: Super Mario 3D World, Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Playing: Hollow Knight
Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I'd like to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
@IceDomino Just saw your comment when looking up something else and it made me think about an interview I saw last week about a Dutch Historian Lotte Houwink ten Cate (don't know if she also writes in English) that criticizes our society for being to focused on the (heterosexual) family-life, that is the so-called best way of life with a lovely partner, splendid career and at least a few kids. She also focuses on the systems that are in place that are more beneficial for married couples than singles and stuff like that. It is a shame, but I hope you will be able to stick to your convictions and have a wonderful singles-life for as long as you want .
Tomorrow is another day and we can't ibuprofen this one away
Fluffy Dreams everyone!
I've been ibuprofening the past 4 days away (mind cutting headaches)
Yeah that's way more than my family does. We have an old premade tree and some ancient ornaments. I like the goofy tree, though. @DiamondCore I got the email notifications from itch.io, sorry to hear your png's were corrupted.

@Anti-Matter ok so that priest or whoever that was, mixed everything up.
First of all, "it was used to be a scary day where the first kid in Egypt will be killed by Pharaoh once Jesus Christ was born." probably mixes up the tale of Moses, when the Pharaoh didn't budge and let the Jews go from slavery until the last plague, a plague that would kill his firstborn son and all the firstborn sons in the kingdom, struck. Christmas has absolutely no connection to Egypt whatsoever. It's true though, that there was a king named Herod who heard that a king of Jews was going to be born and decided to track him down. He would never do that, though, as the 3 kings bamboozled him.
As for celebrating Christmas, I think the most important part is remembering that you are celebrating birth of Jesus, and it's a very happy occasion. I never once heard that Christmas was not to be celebrated happily, only to remember that it's not just an excuse for eating and drinking and partying a lot.
@DiamondCore man that trailer just got me from "maybe on a discount" to "will probably avoid even news about it"
@MarioLover92 Don't worry about replying late, I'm happy you remember I have a nasty habit of replying late or breaking the converstaion because sometimes my attention span is... overenbumbered like a Skyrim character.
I feel like waking up early isn't really that bad, it's the noise from other people that tire you out. The ability to go halfway asleep is a gem.
About trains - haha, yes you did hint at it, I just thought you like them as ornaments and decorations only, not the huge real trains I think I remember that drawing! It was so cool. Sure, you can show it off if you want, tis the season to be spreading that cheer
"Oh absolutely, that kind of scent can give you a sense of nostalgia as well. I've not had a real tree for so many years... I wonder when I'll have one again." - have you seen one of my numerous posts here glorifying the advantages of having a Nordmann Fir? Cause I will preach it until I find an even fluffier Christmas Tree material
Yeah your username does indeed hint that you like Mario I got Switch for Christmas a couple years back and I still remember I was trying to stick the protective glass to the screen while my family was watching "Coming to America" with Eddie Murpy (great movie btw) and Odyssey was the first game I launched, if I recall correctly.
Platformers are very nice, I like Mario, Crash, Spyro, Kirby, Klonoa, A Hat in Time, and... so many more. It's just pure fun without heavy lore.
@EllaTheQueen6 I think you should seek medical attention? Not kidding, 4 days of headache sounds pretty bad and take it from someone who had splitting migranes since ancient times of yore.
I've been playing the Mega Man Zero series recently, and I have been enjoying it, but I have a couple of problems with playing it. First off, I can't really play platformers. I've played a couple, but those were either ridiculously easy, or insanely hard. Don't suppose anyone here knows the game well enough to give me some advice or maybe just something else that I can practice with that's more of a middle ground other than, say, Mario? I prefer things with a little more story.
Truly I am mankind's natural foe! Evil Incarnate! A walking cataclysm! A shapeless insanity! GUNDHAM TANAKA!
Kelpies. Be they hound or horse?
Currently Playing on Switch: Chaos:Child, Master Detective Archives: Rain Code, The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-
@Princess_Lilly
Right?
So when I heard we were not supposed to celebrate Christmas in happiness, I was thinking DA HELL she said like that.
I stopped joining in church activity in year 2007 due to experienced with something that I really disagree from their lecture.
@Anti-Matter its a shame that some weird preacher makes people stop going to the church. You can really experience things there. I wish I could still experience them.
Fluffy Dreams Everyone
Bring me the sesame, miso, citrus and pepper flavored fish cakes
@Sunsy Yep, the Oregon Trail games I have played had different occupations. Not much difference between them outside of how much money you start with that I recall. Though it has been a LONG time lol.
Yep, I'm intentionally picky with sugary things since I like...a lot of it. I will definitely eat many forms of brownies, muffins, and cupcakes too. Except carrot cake. Whoever came up with that combination is crazy. I quite enjoy cheesecake and most kinds of pie too. Not a big fan of some cream or meringue pies though.
Yeah, I think I always started out as a banker. I'm trying to remember since it's been too long.
Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. I agree, carrot cake just never appealed to me.
I actually wanted to use colored lights at first, but they didn't quite cover the entire tree, so we went with the white lights. We have a lot more of those. I'm all done with the tree now... it's all decked out with the lights, ornaments, and train! My train is all set and ready to chug along. I placed the railroad tracks around the tree and installed the batteries, and it's working great. There's still other decorations that gotta be put up though. Best of luck on finishing up your tree.
Nice, you've seen quite a bit more than I have. That Viva cup you have looks cool. Is that a Trolls bed you have here? That looks cool, I think I've seen that in your other pictures.
Yeah I think Smash's online depends on how far away you are with the other players. I'm the same way, Mario Kart and Splatoon has always been my go-to online games for a good while now. Simply because I've gotten a good grasp on how they play, and it helps that I've played the Mario Kart series since 64. I'm all right at Smash Bros., I just can't play very well competitively. I think Splatoon 3's worth picking up, especially if you liked any of its predecessors. It's also got a very good story mode. The Side Order DLC will be coming out next year as well. I'm holding off on getting Splatoon 3's DLC until Side Order comes out, all it is right now is another hub area in the form of Splatoon 1's Inkopolis Plaza. (Really, Nintendo? The first half of the DLC is just an alternate hub area? Come on, guys...)
Nice, good to hear that Sonic Advance 3's multiplayer is good fun. It's been years since I last played it though... so I may have to relearn its levels. I only played Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on the GameCube. Wouldn't mind seeing it on the Switch, though I'm not sure Sega's too willing to bring it over there right now.
Oh, here's my Cat Mario ornament. I purposely placed him next to a certain other ornament in the background...
That's cool, that little tree you mentioned sounds nice. That's cool you got the movie Sonic ornament as well.
Nice, I do have some plain shirts as well, and they're all long sleeved. They're good for wintertime, as well. Most of my shirts have Mario on them, which I'm totally proud of, lol. Yeah, I've seen graphic tees that go for around that price range you've mentioned, good to hear you got a good deal.
Cool. All I have to do is put the garland and star on it, and set up the train. The lights and ornaments are all done. I know where the train set is, so it should be easy to set up, just need to get batteries, otherwise, the train will most likely be at a standstill.
Yeah, and on top of that, Turning Red and Luca are going to theaters next year. I'm considering going just to see them on the big screen. My friend and I did it for Trolls World Tour in summer of 2022. Thanks, it was nice having my drink out of a cup related to the movie. It made it more special. Yes, that is. I always had character bedding for my bed. It's Trolls right now, in the past it was Frozen and My Little Pony. It's my bed, so I like to have character bedding, even though I'm an adult.
Yeah, shooter games have always been popular online so Splatoon fits in with that, and so is racing, which is Mario Kart. You're not the only one, I'm not the best Smash player either, I usually play on the easier difficulty settings. Usually, whenever I play a competitive game online, I never play ranked because I'm not competitive. I play Apex Legends via casual mode instead of ranked. I just always enjoyed playing online games, just the idea of being able to play with others across the Internet. Wow, so basically DLC is just Wii U's lobby area so far.
All the Sonic GBA games really need some sort of modern way to play them, aside from having them downloaded to a Japanese Wii U. I get Wii U wasn't popular, but I would still buy Sonic Advance games on the US Wii U if they did show up, just so I don't need to rely on my GBA to play them.
Cool Cat Mario ornament. I still need to share some pictures of mine.
Yeah, I mostly wear the plain shirts for more formal occasions, which aren't often. Sensory reasons, I can't wear a dress shirt with the buttons, so I save the few plain ones for those sort of occasions, my folks are ok with it (unless you're my brother, and you request I wear one of my character shirts... true story, he asked this for his wedding, lol. Long story short, I guess he knew a wedding would be too much for me, so he wanted me to be as comfortable as possible). I usually just wear shirts with my favorite characters on them all the time, it's always what makes me, me. Never cared for fashion trends and styles, just give me a character shirt and I'm happy. Indeed, and it should be delivered tomorrow, looking forward to getting the new shirt.
@Sunsy
Wait, the three Disney Pixar movies during pandemic will be released on cinema next year?
I saw the schedule from the trailer.
Soul = 12 January 2024
Turning Red = 9 February 2024
Luca = 22 March 2024
If you have ever watched any of them from Disney+, could you give some quick review about the storyline about?
@Anti-Matter Yup! They will be next year. I've seen only Turning Red and Luca, haven't seen Soul.
Luca is a nice friendship story about a sea monster who builds up courage to leave the sea, and befriends another boy named Alberto and a girl name Guilia. Taking place in Italy, the three enter a contest to win a Vespa. Really nice story about friends. Here's a trailer...
Turning Red is about a teen girl named Mei who wakes up one morning and she realizes she turns into a red panda, whose ancestors have a connection to red pandas. Any strong emotion releases the panda, and Mei must learn to control it and figuring out a way to get to a boy band concert, with her friends, taking place in 2002. Another nice movie, actually watched it again this evening. Trailer...
As someone who loves these two, I'm so excited to see them finally get theatrical releases. Even though I could watch them right now on Disney+ or on DVD (I own these two physically).
It's a story about a music professor with aspirations of grandeur. On the day he finally gets a lucky break and is invited to join a proper Jazz band, he unfortunately has an accident and, after refusing to "follow the light", his soul goes in the wrong direction and ends up in the place where new souls are formed instead. Then he finds himself becoming the designated mentor for a problematic soul that has spent their entire non-existence avoiding going to planet earth to live a life. Mainly because they don't see what's the point.
Since our musician obviously doesn't want to die just yet, they find a way to go back to earth... But after yet another freaky accident, both of them fall in and it is the other soul who lands on his body instead of him (he ends up landing on a nearby cat). Etc, etc, movie happens, there's conflict, there's tears, there's acceptance and redemption, and all that jazz.
Anyhow... As it should be obvious, the movie differs from Luca and Turning Red in the sense that it largely focuses on the experiences of a middle-aged man going through a mid-death crisis, instead of those of a child undergoing "changes", and so the themes tend to be a bit more, uh, existential. But it's still the typical funny and heartwarming Disney fare.
@Princess_Lilly I ain't going to the ER for some headaches. I'm not siting in a waiting room with nothing to do for 7 hours, I'm just gonna wait it off, it'll go away eventually.

Alright, so some of you probably saw the posts in the goodbye thread, but Plumber has left the site and Kermit is likely leaving. We’re in a discord server though, so if anyone here wants to join I can give you the link. John and some others that have left are in there as well. But yeah, if anyone here wants the link then I can give it to you.
