In the world of graphic design, we call that destructive editing.
Maybe there's a reason to do that to create video games that I'm not aware off, but when you create art like that for marketing purposes, the field I used to be a part of, this is a big no-no. Layers and masks are your friends.

@lanztephan Im guessing it helps if you have a sprite of a character and you want it to have different poses, so you can quickly add another file to the exisiting part.

@TeaCatherine The teachers tossed the kids in council to a forum site, and we all talk there. We get to pitch ideas for the school! I've even received an award for a good idea already!

@TheJGG Yeah, planes are quite safe from what I've heard. I've gotten more used to plane trips as time went on. My first flight saw me quite nervous, but it got better over time. You have a good flight in advance.
