@Anti-Matter why, do you perchance do not like the west?

yeah the curriculum does seem completely bonkers. But hey, it's not like any school curriculum is much better. It's pretty much learning useless names, dates and other bs only to forget it 5 mins after the test is over. History and Literature are among the least useful (strange coming from someone with history oriented class back in a day but I needed it), math and physics are useful but the point is - you need to figure it all out yourself, from the internet.

There are some Western cultures that I don't like due to clash with my personality such as the influence of soccer, wrestling, shooter games, ghetto rap songs, too famous Western super heroes franchises, Harry Potter stuffs, the indifferent behaviour toward something unique, etc.
When wrestling keep being popularized and at the same time kickboxing / K-1 get depopularized, it really made me turned off with wrestling stuffs.

@Anti-Matter Oh, I get it. Some things are pretty omnipresent like football, but I don't think it's a bad thing. Also, it's kinda unusual to say that western cultures promote "indifferent behaviour toward something unique", as they are actually the ones trying their hardest to preserve uniqueness.

Also, some of the things you mentioned are very niche and specific like wrestling (I think it's popular only in 1 country and even a super niche extreme sport of ski diving is popular in like 5 countries at least) or ghetto rap songs (I haven't heard any for like 10 years I think)

Disliking Harry Potter, huh? Me too, but I'd like to hear your reasons as for me it's just terribly written characters.

@Rambler
I never said anything about disregarding history, merely learning it the wrong way. Theoretically speaking, looking forward instead of backward is bound to product much better results. It was in the past that women were oppressed and it actually came from this horrible, plainly wrong, backwards thinking that men are superior (which was a result of thousands of years of men being simply physically stronger). Even without historical knowledge though, it is pretty clear that women are in no way less capable than men and trying to prove otherwise would be met with laughter.

The main point is, historical knowledge is easily accessible worldwide, and yet there are many socially backward, underdeveloped countries like the islamic states where women are still oppressed, and human rights are too complicated to be understood. Why is that? Not because history is not taught there, it's because the traditions are the best excuse for males there to keep power without trying to think, which is a daunting task for them.

So yes, we need historical knowledge and we need to teach it. But testing kids' memories with dates of birth and death of randos is not the way to do it. We need to show them how amazingly interesting learning is, but schools kill the curiosity instead promoting it. Mistakes will lower your grades, sending the message "making mistake is bad", whereas making mistakes is the BEST way to learn. Schools show that you need to work hard on useless things so you get a worthless paper, teaching that "it doesnt' matter if your work makes sense, just do it". The cherry on top is the best lesson a school teaches you - the crowd will eat you alive and bully you into anxiety if you disagree with them once, and that nobody will help you.

Universities are much better since they actually give you some freedom and basic toolkits for learning on your own, but they too are far from perfect.

"...and also for those who are not usually represented in accepted views of history (the working class, for example)"

It's an entirely offtop point but believe me, the working class is represented in history, especially in 20th century, but not in a good way. The most dehumanizing, disgusting crimes were commited by the working class to the working class.

I also never said that literature and art are useless themselves, I stated that teaching useless facts about the artists/writers is. Also, most of the books required to read is just a set of mediocre crab full of patriotism and martyrology.

Literature and art are fascinating, but - as I stated it a couple of times now - it's no use when the curriculum is aimed at putting a kid into a mold of obedient, patriotic sheep never stepping out of line nor questioning the govt

In short, you argued against the statements that I never raised.

@Tyranexx Thanks, I do enjoy the courses quite a bit. That's understandable, you're heading out on Wednesday right? I'll be sure to wish you safe travels by then. No worries if you forget to get a screenshot of your progress.

I think I got like one rare blade in XC2? I'll have to see next time I play. Been a while since I played. Yeah, I'm definitely no completionist when it comes to RPGs (or pretty much any game that's large-scale) so I won't be 100%ing XC2 anytime soon, if at all. I should still try to finish the game so I can at least get to Torna without having stuff spoiled.

@Princess_Lilly Yeah, when it comes to stuffed animals, I am very heavily affected by the tomogatchi effect. That's why I have so many plushies.
Well, I dunno if I could call it the tamagotchi effect in this case, cause that really only applies to, like, computer software and stuff like that, but I dunno what else to call it, so I'll stick to tamagotchi effect

@Scooby-Doo They had a plug-in for all the studnes chrome app that disabled a bunch of things and blocked a ton of sites. I once had to use a site for a school project, they GAVE me the link saying it was ok to use, and so I click on it AND IT'S FORBIDDEN. Though, sometimes it would work cause the plug-in that banned sites and stuff sucked. And I get they made the dino game forbidden so that was don't procrastinate, BUT THAT'S STILL A STUPID REASON, MY INTERNET IS DOWN LET ME PLAY THE DINO GAME

Should I change my name to EllaTheQueen6? It's my username on literally everything else, so it's a bit weird to have a different name here, and now that over a year has passed I think my name is kinda weird. I mean, EllaTheQueen6 is weird too, but not as weird as EllaTheKawaiiNeko, and EllaTheQueen6 is just what I'm used to. Should I change my name or nah?
