@Professor_Plumber glad to be back! I’m going to head to bed soon! But a good break off of the internet is always refreshing! Though like this thread does, time passes differently here lol.

@Princess_Lilly I honestly don't know why Steam doesn't have some kind of feature to let you check if something will run or not (unless it does and I just haven't found it), I guess that's one of the reasons they have such a forgiving refunds system.
@EllaTheKawaiiNeko Cool, you have learned the skill "cat mastery I", congratulations.

This is my second attempt at a watercolor painting. It somehow is worse than the first one but with practice it will be better Also it does not help working on a such small "canvas"

Will I do
AGAIN...!!!

@Link-Hero Yeah, I know, I'm just not great at telling whether the specs listed are better or worse than the ones my computer has.

@Professor_Plumber An Intel(R) Celeron(R) N4500 @ 1.10GHz 1.11 GHz. (Literally just copied and pasted from settings.) It's mostly the graphics cards and stuff that puzzle me.

@TeaCatherine Maybe try typing 'Device Manager' into the start menu search box. Once in Device Manager, look up display adapters and double click. It should tell you the name of your GPU.

@Jalex_64 It's more that I don't know the hierachy of graphics cards.

@Professor_Plumber Uh, no, it's Steins: Gate but I know it can run it, I booted it up the other day. I more want to know for future reference in case I want something that's only on Steam. I wasn't asking for advice, more just lamenting how clueless I am about the whole thing.

@Zuljaras I love it, your sky is even better than before! I’m keeping tabs on a watercolor set similar to yours, because I still want to have the regular colors.

I coincidentally also painted something small before going to bed yesterday. Unfortunately I used a water-based pen for the lineart, and it started smudging.

Bloop.

@TeaCatherine Ah, ok, well there's plenty of helpful lists online, next time you're looking up recommended specs.

This one's pretty useful, as it also includes mobile chips:
https://www.gpucheck.com/gpu-benchmark-graphics-card-comparis...

There's also 'Can you run it', a site which allows you to input your current specs and it will tell you whether your system is able to run any game:
https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri

Hopefully these prove useful for future reference.

@Jalex_64 Ah, thanks. That second one sounds super helpful.

@TeaCatherine No problem. Also, if you're not sure how your GPU measures up to another, just google the name of your GPU vs other GPU and you'll get lots of comparison sites to help you. 'Userbenchmark' is the one a lot of people use and should give you a rough estimate of the difference in performance in the form of a percentage. Best of luck!

@Jalex_64 How often is that second site wrong? 'Cause I decided to give it a try and it's saying that this laptop can't run something I literally just booted up.

Jalex_64

@TeaCatherine Well, a lot of people differ on what counts as being able to run smoothly. Usually 'Can I run it' simply relies on minimum and recommended specs from the publisher. These aren't always 100% accurate, as they can't take into account everybody's personal setups and what framerates people find tolerable.

If your specs are very close to the minimum, then sometimes you can get away with not meeting the required threshold for every part eg. CPU or GPU as maybe you compensated in other areas like RAM etc.

Jalex_64

TeaCatherine

@Jalex_64 I always assumed if you didn't meet the minimum listed it would show an error message or something, thanks for clearing that up.
