Anyone want to see the native stone artifacts I found in Michigan? @Eel@TheJGG@Zuljaras
Back in 2016-ish, I was in knee deep water at my grandparent's. I dug like a foot and a half into the stoney/sandy bottom, and within a couple big handfulls that I brought to the surface, I found these. I was like, holy sh_t.
Forgive me if the one stone is over exposed. I was going to take another pic outside in natural light, but it's raining now.
LEFT: I think that one was used as a hammer. I'm not too sure. There are marks around it, like it was tied & fixed to a handle, plus you see the bored out hole. Maybe it was a fishing weight, I don't know.
TOP: Stone drill. If you've never seen a stone drill before, google it, you'll see it's a common shape stone tool - used for cutting holes into leather, I believe. Even though it's pretty rounded, both sides of the point appear to have been struck and flaked.
RIGHT: A makeshift knife for cutting meat from an animal. You can see the left side has been struck & flaked, like half an arrowhead.
All of them have a distinct feel, like they fit in your figures comfortably. No idea how old they are.
[@WoomyNNYes Oh wow that's amazing! I wonder if there's anymore in that river? Hmm
It was in the bay, in the traverse city area. I would imagine there could possibly be more stuff there. Or maybe it's not that unique of a find. I don't know. Anyway, that was my grandparents house beach, and I found the artifacts just before we sold the house (after my grandmother passed away). And... I'm not going to tell the new owners that I found them.🤣
I know the traverse city bay area had native populations. And ancient native trails traversing lower michigan intersect there. So, it's possible my find wasn't that unique.
@Professor_Plumber Not that all mobile games are bad - some are excellent - but they're definitely different from many traditional console or even handheld experiences.
@MarioLover92 I actually consulted a map for the regions I've been to and actually hit many of them already even without the shrine sensor, but I still did miss roughly 3-4. Mainly in the Eldin region. The ones I would typically miss were underground. Some of the caves are hidden very well.
The main problem when I was a kid was both my parents were usually busy with work, and I lived in the boonies. Outside of the bus to and from school, it was hard for me to get much of anywhere until I got my driver's license. I did play some sports, but typically the ones that didn't involve driving a fair distance. Plus I fell out of sports almost completely by high school since the ones that were available to me weren't really my thing lol.
Visually, Shadow Dragon is a pretty neat game. Like the GBA FE titles, it was slightly anime-ish but had its own identity. The 3DS games on up went a more anime route. I'm not complaining, just that the earlier visual styles were more distinct IMO. And I went back and played them later! XD I did think about grabbing Captain Toad again on the Switch, but at this point I think I'd rather play a full sequel. It was very refreshing at the time, and the Captain Toad sections are one of my favorite things about Super Mario 3D World. Now THAT I double-dipped for, just haven't played it yet. It's sitting in my Switch's digital storage right now. One of the few retail games I grabbed digital since the DL size wasn't huge, and I don't ever anticipate selling it.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
Oh crap. I think I might have a piece of native american pottery. I kept this piece because it was strangely thin piece of sandstone from an ancient dune, and it had interesting patterns on it. It never crossed my mind it could be pottery, because it's flat.
When I search native american pottery pieces, I see similar flat pieces that have similar stippled pattern. And I guess the reverse side was combed.
Wow, I've been sitting on this piece since 2016. If this is pottery, I don't want to drop it back into the plastic bag with the other stone tools.🤣
