@Professor_Plumber Sorry if it bothered you, I always try not to involve innocent bystanders in any of this.

But let us rejoice as another day is upon us, and the sun shines brightly on this blessed saturday

@WaffleBoat I feel fantastic and I'm still alive

@Owl1 @blindsquarel I feel like it needs to be determined on the case by case basis. Emulating games you can still buy is generally a no no, but what about indivisible and all the drama surrounding it? That is a very peculiar case where the creators do not get paid for their work. Of course we have obvious cases like Vortex on SNES, a game lost in time, but in my opinion it should just be judged by everyone wanting to go into emulation individually. I don't have any emulator, but I would certainly not shun anyone who wants to play something they can't buy anyway.

@Professor_Plumber don't worry, we'll all spend most of our lives with situations getting out of hand, that's life.

More importantly, it's saturday

and tomorrow is still not monday

I'm very happy with these facts

Of the million of cooking contraptions I own... the only one I ever use daily is my breakfast sandwich maker.

@ComfyAko
i feel like the only case where emulation is justified is if you:

1. Own the game
2. Dump it yourself
3. no current gen

Sadly this is the vast minority of cases. But you are right, we shouldn’t judge anyone as a person based on this. This goes for most everything In life.

@blindsquarel if you just wanna make backups of your childhood Pokemon or Zelda save then I'm all for it, but if you wanna play New Super Mario Bros. then that kinda crosses a line.

when I say you I mean your fictional "friend's" "friend".

Emulation is a messy topic lol

At least one is being used, that is a good thing.

A breakfast sandwich cooker is the greatest tool ever created.

@Owl1
Yeah, emulation is weird.

@blindsquarel as in all conditions must be met?

If you dump it yourself, there's absolutely no problem. Also, if a game is no longer for sale in any media

Also, I think that vast majority of people use emulation to play very old games, I mean there are so few new games that you can easily buy every single one without even straining your budget.

It’s just how I feel about it but yeah. Games that don’t go on sale anymore are weird. Because what do you do when said game goes on sale? Take Metroid Prime, before its remaster it was hard to find and not for sale. Plenty of people used that to justify downloading the ROM. How many people do you think deleted that ROM and bought the remaster? I bet there were some that did, but how many people just played the ROM because they already had it downloaded? And that does effect sales numbers, even though the game was previously not on modern consoles.

I got a laptop! Won’t be here for two weeks, but I was able to catch it on sale. Plus 3 months of game pass, so that is nice.
