@TeaCatherine Buying the Blu-Ray and a blu-ray player to watch it. That's definitely worth it to watch something with Rie Takahashi or Akari Kito in it.

@EllaTheKawaiiNeko Yay, you guessed the right one. She's going to import a Japanese version of the film Shazam and I'm going to make sure she gets subtitles for it somehow. (I won't be on here tomorrow as I will probably have been killed by her for telling you this. )

@TeaCatherine Now, how do you plan on putting subtitles on something that doesn't have subtitles. Also, I'd do that and just deal with the lack of subtitles, I speak enough Japanese to understand some words.

@EllaTheKawaiiNeko I wasn't going to. It's kind of a nice thought, but the effort she's going to, it just wouldn't be worth it. To elaborate, the nice thought is the subtitles, not anything else. The syntax in this paragraph is atrocious, sorry.

@EllaTheKawaiiNeko I'm not entirely sure. If all else fails I'll just hand her piece of paper with the lines on, but if I can find a way to rip both JP and English DVDs of it I could add the English subtitle file. (I'd also need a DVD R/W disc probably.) She wants to just watch it without subs but I don't think her Japanese is at that level yet.

@TeaCatherine I feel it deserves mention that I wouldn't have translated the name of that song as Brain Explosion Whatever, so that's gotta count for something, yeah?

@TeaCatherine That would work if the subtitles aren't part of the video itself. Or you could yoink the video file from the Japanese dvd, put it into a video editing program, manually put in subtitles, then put it back on the Japanese dvd.

@EllaTheKawaiiNeko Yeah, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Probably, I'd need to get a disc reader as you probably can't rip DVDs using a PS3.

@EllaTheKawaiiNeko I can't remember what all the kanji in the situation I was referring was, but one was brain, yes. The first. Anyway, she does have a point that my Japanese probably isn't good enough, but that's only because my comprehension of the spoken word is really bad. In other words, I clearly need to improve, and I won't improve unless I challenge myself.

I do wonder since there were some newbie users here get active, I found the whole post were talking about something that really disturbing me. 🙄

@Scooby-Doo I can speak, properly pronounce, and understand a fair bit of Japanese (Besides for the pronounciationt hing, I can ronounce everything correctly) but I can't read it. Ican only write my name in Katakana.
