The internet is making me actively upset right now. We just had one of the best directs ever and people are like “40$ for prime lol I could just pirate it and mod it” and “10 more dollars for what could be the best Zelda ever” and “wow the new Zelda has nothing new” when they showed off FREAKING CARS!
I fear no man
but that thing:
The carrot minigame from bowser's inside story
it scares me
Direct was great, screamed when I saw Samba de Amigo getting a new game, I love playing the one on Wii. Already got the Game Boy stuff downloaded, played some Link's Awakening DX. I'm happy with the GBA stuff, but going to wait on it as I still feel $50/year is a lot of money. Maybe give me the Sonic games on GBA, or other GBA games that I loved playing. I still don't feel the Expansion Pack is worth it for me. I'm happy to finally see an update on Advance Wars. Metroid Prime's remaster did surprise me.
@WaffleBoat As for the price, I understand why people would be upset. For the longest time, games were $60, ever since the Xbox 360 and PS3 days. Wii games were $50, only getting $60 when Wii U came out. Before that, games on GameCube, Xbox, and PS2 were $50. I can't blame people for being upset over a price increase.
Personally, I blame Sony for trying to normalize the idea that games should cost $70, and paying only encourages game publishers to increase the price because they can get away with it. What's stopping them from making games, $80, $90, or $100 if successful?
Personally, I'm not in favor of the idea. I have to budget myself with games, I often buy games when price drops or when there's sales, on both Nintendo and PC, been doing this for years. So I save the one full price game for something I really want to play, it might not be Zelda, it might be other games I want to play.
Last year, not including the two games I got as gifts for Christmas last year, I bought only one full price game. The rest I bought were during sales on the eShop, GOG, and Steam.
Sorry if my answer isn't more positive, but there's a reason why people don't like the price increase. This is coming from someone who's probably the most positive person on the forum. I guess that makes me the forum Poppy or something, lol.
Avoiding the comments section as it gets pretty heated in them over this subject, at least after the comment I made in that poll anyway.
Very good Direct; I managed to watch it about 90 minutes after it originally aired. It started a bit slow for me, but it increasingly improved and ended with a bang. A TON of great announcements, but I'm still determined to not break my Switch purchase embargo until April thanks to the eShop closures....Even if Metroid Prime Remastered will make this hard.
@Anti-Matter, @Colonel_Mustache Thanks. It was kind of a rough and long day with the distance involved, but it was also time. My step-grandpa's quality of life went downhill over the last year especially these last couple of months. Still, 94 is an amazing run.
@EaglyTheKawaiiShika Thanks as well. Long, hard day, but these things unfortunately hapoen.
Honestly, as an introvert, I didn't really mind the Covid lockdowns. Though I was blessed by being able to work from home as necessary, though I was furloughed for a short while in 2020. Didn't make much of a dent on my backlog though lol.
I know I'll love DQ XI S. As for Dragon Quest Builders 2, the demo will certainly decide for me whether or not I grab the game. I've heard it's amazing even for people who aren't traditionally into games like Minecraft and Terraria.
@Sunsy I owned the "dumb" phone before that for about five years lol. It was time to trade up. The only negative about the new one was it didn't come with free game knockoffs like the other one lol. I loved the Breakout and Tetris variants on it.
For personal/the industry I'm in reasons, I've never owned an iOS device. I've owned various Android devices and even a Windows Phone too.
Enjoyed the Nintendo Direct. Quite a few things to look forward to, the Yoshi's Island course in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe looks so good! I already downloaded the Game Boy and GBA games on my Switch, too.
@Tyranexx Ah wow, looking forward to Mole Mania upping the challenge later on, lol. Thanks! It's such a good game, and one of my favorite games that I've played this year.
Thank you, I've been enjoying XC3. Yeah same here, I kinda have to pick and choose which RPGs I really want because of their length. There are more options for us to pick from at least. I have a friend in real life who likes RPGs quite a lot, too. I remember seeing him play one of the GBA Final Fantasy games at some point.
Nice. How are you liking Chicory? It looks quite charming with its art style, and I saw it was made by the same folks who made Celeste (tough as nails, but it's one of my favorite indie games). That's cool, what worlds in Super Mario 64 do you like?
I saw that you've mentioned a funeral in your post... sorry to hear about your step-grandpa. My deepest condolences to you.
@Kermit1 You're welcome, glad you had a great day!
@Sunsy Yep I got the hang of it. Gotcha, there's two GameCube games I have that have a widescreen option. Those are Super Monkey Ball 2 and F-Zero GX. I actually played SMB2 (no, not Super Mario Bros. 2... lol) in widescreen fairly recently, and made quite a bit of progress in that game's story mode. Still a good game after all these years.
Gotcha, that's cool. It kind of depends on the game, and what my mood is too. I do like getting all the Power Stars in Super Mario Galaxy, for example. Getting all the Shine Sprites in Super Mario Sunshine... not so much. Plus the last time I played New Super Mario Bros. on the DS, it was just a casual playthrough, just getting to the end and that's it.
Yeah, I'd love to see the Sonic Advance games on NSO+EP. I mean, there's Sega Genesis games on there, lol. The SA games would be fun to play together. I might have forgotten, didn't Sonic Advance 3 have local co-op?

Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I'd like to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
@TeaCatherine yeah it is and I’m still very exited for the dlc. It’s xenoblade I love these characters so much would watch a slice of life romance anime starring them.
Sign me up for that.
Currently playing: Metal Gear Solid

@ChaoticKirby I've definitely heard TotK is eligible 'cause it was often mentioned in the whole price controversy. I dunno about the other but I would assume so.

@TeaCatherine great, thank you for putting up with me I just generally like old games, I guess some of the games I really like are as old, or even older than me, so I obviously didn't play them from day one. However, once I catch wind of an old, interesting game, I'll try to get my hands on it. I guess I'm kind of like a video games historian romantically obsessing over the 00s which I also consider the best decade of my life. What made you laugh during the direct? Because I might have done an ooopsie once or twice. It was such a fun experience for me, watching it with everyone, I might have gone a bit overboard
@WaffleBoat I don't really pay attention to the naysayers like that. Some people will always be cranky, I used to be very negative for like half of my life, and I can tell you, it's so much better focusing on the positives. I mean, FREAKING CARS! It looks to me like they will introduce some vehicle building mechanics like in Banjo Kazooie Nuts'n'Bolts.
Everyone, thanks for watching the direct with me, it was super fun, and it did give me hope. I might have been wrong about the games after 2010. (But 00s will always have a special place in my heart)

@ComfyAko The typing of the unfortunate initials of that game where you have to guide a spinning stick.
I had all my finger crossed but still managed to type decently, not very quickly hence why ended up calling you Ako a few times. I want to play quote a few older games but they tend to unfortunately be the ones that have skyrocketed in price. (Yay, Ghost Trick got ported that was on my wishlist, Baten Kaitos was another one I wanted to play.)

@TeaCatherine Oh yeah Kuru Kuru well, the chat moved so quickly that very few caught that and I though meh, it's all in good fun. Send.
Yeah I get what you mean. Remasters are lifesavers. Good thing I bought Radiant Historia earlier because it's really hard to get nowadays. Not to mention games like Doshin the Giant. Good thing Klonoa got a remaster. And of course Metro Prime (I have the collection on Wii U but I it's worth double dipping).

@ComfyAko Honestly, I totally agree, pretty much the only actual new games I get are JRPGs and the occasional multiplayer (couch) to play with my siblings. I'm hoping later in the year we get a massive amount of later classic games ported. The Orange Box maybe, Metal Gear Solid, the original Silent Hill series things like that.

@EllaTheKawaiiNeko Did you see any of the announcements?
Also, the person who's set to buy our house also bought the house that joins onto ours and has started doing work on it, it is very, very loud here at the moment.
Edit: Also, very annoying.
@TeaCatherine No, I didn't see any of the announcements. I'm not much of a Nintendo lover, I only started using this site to find Animal Crossing New Leaf players and then I started to talk in this thread and stuff after the ANCL thread died.
