No weekends... ever

So ya, definitely more time to game (though to be fair, when I do work weekends I always bring my Switch and game out for most of it, since there's so little to do on weekends).

BTW, you're dead on with that comparison about petting cats. Loved seeing you go off on that cause it's exactly what many of us wanted to say 😀

Could you stop convincing me about xenoblade games?
Remember the other reason I will not pick those games?

Xenoblade 1 : blood, use of alcohol and tobacco, partial nudity, violence, mild language
Xenoblade 2 : language, use of alcohol and tobacco, suggestive themes, violence
Xenoblade 3 : language, mild blood, suggestive themes, violence
Xenoblade Chronicles X : Animated Blood, Language, Suggestive Themes, Use of Alcohol, Violence

The contents I give bold are the things that I do not want to deal from video games. Added with other things I found such as the storyline theme, the character design, the gameplay system, etc I didn't even think those ideas clicked on me. Even there are the shirtless dudes over there from swimsuit outfits, it still didn't convince me at all.

I have ever bought xenoblade 2 in December 2017 but I only played for several minutes at the beginning part and I didn't even feel clicked with the game. Added with the waifus in xenoblade 2 that made me really uncomfortable to play the game, I stopped playing since then and I sold the game with BOTW in October 2021 since I don't want any xenoblade & zelda stuffs in my gaming place.
And I thought to myself I bought very wrong games to play before. Glad I have removed them from my gaming place.

Do I miss the games ? Yes
Do I regret to miss those games ? No
I will be happier for not playing those xenoblade and zelda games.
There are a lot of kiddie games like Paw Patrol, Race with Ryan, Cooking Mama, Barbie, etc that I like to play better than the games I have zero interest about. I would rather play those mediocre kiddie games over than xenoblade or zelda games since my natural preference is for cute looking stuffs.

Anyway, I have The Sims 4 on PS4 with tons of muscular dudes I created by myself to satisfy my guilty pleasure, so I already covered from this game.

@EaglyTheKawaiiShika Was Future connect the one on the Wii U? Because it’s not like I don’t want to play them in order, I just want to make sure my first experience with the games is one that I’m actually interested in experiencing.

They sound like great games, and I can’t wait to play them!

These games really do sound amazing, and seem to be able to do things in the right places, it will probably be my first jrpg since Pokémon!

You won't get anywhere trying to reason, as evidenced by that last post, which is just a wall of text repeating "I don't like".

Some ppl just insult anything they don't like. Why? Who knows. Narcissism, fanboyism, lack of empathy... who can say.

Using the examples you provided- I don't dislike God of War, but I'm also not a huge fan. It's... OK. But I recognize why so many ppl like it. Same for Elden Ring. It was decent fun from what I played. Not my favorite, but I like it well enough... I definitely see the appeal for Souls fans as they love those types of games.

But that's really the key- having empathy and perspective

Even if a game isn't particularly suited to my tastes, I can still understand perfectly well, at least usually, why some people are massive fans. It's not hard. One only need to look at things objectively and think, "ok, I know this particular game doesn't excite me as much as it does others, but I can definitely see the appeal, objectively speaking". I can usually look at a gameplay trailer and tell right off the bat if a game is appealing, irrespective of whether it's appealing to me personally

Some people are simply incapable of such objective discernment. Or they choose not to for who knows what reason. Perhaps one too self-absorbed can only think about themselves and what they like- the notion of consideration of what others may like is a foreign concept. Perhaps one who lacks the ability to see things from another's point of view can only understand their own preferences- to them, liking something they don't is an enigma which confuses and angers them, as their perspective is the only "correct" preference.

Best to just brush aside and go about your business. Ten years I've never seen a change of heart, I don't think it's gonna start now.

Everyone's gonna have different tastes in games, even among gamers on the same platform who enjoy the same genres. Nothing wrong with liking or not liking something, but there's no reason to needlessly insult games you don't like. On the contrary, I tend to ask people why they like certain games so much in hopes they might succeed in changing my perspective so I can enjoy it like they do.

For a long time I disliked rogue-lites. But I never gave up on the genre, and would always ask those who liked Dead Cells and Hades, what's so fun about it to you? Cause I'm not seeing it... but I want to. And finally, I played Rogue Legacy 2 and fell in love. I found the game that helped me see the light, and may now go back and try Dead Cells and Hades again with a fresh perspective.

But, that's because I genuinely want to enjoy as many of the best games possible. It brings me no joy saying I dislike a game. However, it brings me great joy discovering how to like a game.

If someone isn't genuinely looking for the best fun, they probably won't have such an attitude.

I’ve seen how easily influenced he is by the media he consumes, so I truly believe avoiding disturbing content is the best for him personally. Even if he does overdo it…

But yes, the necessity to insert himself into discussions that are simply not meant for him does disrupt things a bit. And I’m sure he’s aware about it, too, but I don’t know if there’s a lot he can do about it.

As usual, my recommendation is to use the ignore function. Arguing with him over it won’t really do much.

I think everyone was being really respectful in how they gave there opinions but he made it about him every single time. And it’s good to take breaks anyway.

@EaglyTheKawaiiShika I just watched Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, it's a true masterpiece.

@EaglyTheKawaiiShika No and I completely forgot it was animation halfway through, after you watch it watch the doc on how they made it (even Toby from Labyrinth helped make this movie lol). Guillermo is one of the greatest filmmakers we have right now along with Wes Anderson.

I give the movie a 10/10.
