@EaglyTheKawaiiShika I had some fairly crazy interactions with some enemies, but that was partially due to those masks you can buy that fool them lol. I continually messed around with Moblins and Bokoblins that way. I technically bought XC3 Day one, but it was a preorder...that didn't arrive until the Monday after it released. The irony was I didn't have a lot going on the weekend XC3 released, but the week after...oof.
@TheJGG This thread has seen more activity lately, so I'm mostly keeping it to replies only for the time being lol. I just don't have the time to read through so many pages.
A real console = so a PC? Kidding. As much as I love my Switch, the system's hybrid nature certainly means there were some casualties in the visual department. Though some teams have performed AMAZING optimization on it. I'm admittedly not a graphics purist by any stretch though; as long as a game functions without frames dropping into the teens and doesn't contain a myriad of game breaking bugs, I can roll with it as long as I like the plot (if applicable) and gameplay. XCX was a technical marvel on the Wii U; those patches were certainly needed!
Precisely: Some open world games are about the journey and not the destination. I think that's why so many enjoy open world games in the formats of BotW and Death Stranding since you technically never experience the game in the exact same way each playthrough.
@EaglyTheKawaiiShika I put 135+ hours into XC3. I reached the end credits and did a lot of the side content, but not all. I hope to go back when more of the DLC is available, buy that, and delve into more of the post-game then. And yes, maximizing classes gets crazy quickly, especially after unlocking up to rank 20 via the ascension quests. BotW is quite a fun sandbox game in its own right with a LOT of possibilities thanks to that crazy physics engine lol. If we weren't getting close to TotK's release, I'd be tempted to start a new file.
Apologies for the late responses, let's just say I got a bit busy this weekend and something I rather not talk about happened. Once again, I apologize. Also, I'm surprised how fast this thread has been moving thanks to the new regulars.
On a brighter side of things, I did play some Sonic Mega Collection for Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic 1, and Super Mario All-Stars for Super Mario 3. I love how I have Christmas memories tied to both games (got them both for Christmas when I was younger, though I played the NSO version of Super Mario All-Stars, so it wasn't the original copy).
Also, my mom gave me a new ornament of Poppy. She found this one, and I didn't know it existed. Poppy has her finale outfit from Trolls World Tour. Another good thing this weekend.
It's officially December... here's my Raccoon Mario ornament!
@Sunsy All righty cool, I pretty much hung all the ornaments I wanted on the tree. It's chock full of ornaments now, and I could only fit so much, so we'll do everything else next. I'm also waiting for one more thing for the tree, which is a light-up Mario super star tree topper. I have a super star tree topper, but the one I have doesn't light up, unfortunately. So once the new one arrives, I'll use the old one for something else. That's cool you got your mom that Barbie ornament. My mom has some Hello Kitty ornaments of her own, she's been a huge Hello Kitty fan since she was younger. One is of her drinking hot cocoa, and another is of her ice skating.
Oh that sounds really nice, good to see that you're keeping that tradition going. Is that like a scenery you'd do, like how I have the small houses around? We have this Santa scenery as well, that one's been a tradition for us to put out too.
That's cool. I know I sound kind of a purist, but I've always stuck with controllers, lol. Though, back when Mario Kart Wii was out, I would try to get used to the Wii Wheel since it was the hot new thing.
Ah really, that's cool you group your ornaments like that. For my tree, I've kind of spread them out, so I'd see all my Mario ornaments on all the tree's sides. So I'd see a mixture of Mario and everything else. I do something very similar, for near the top of the tree, I like having that one Mario ornament near the very top, where he has his hands open and raised upward, and the star tree topper right above him. Glad to see you got them too! All righty - according to Mario Wiki, the City Tripper's available from the start, so you don't need to unlock it.
The Mario ornament is awesome! Look above, mom surprised me with a new Poppy ornament she picked out.
Yeah, I still need to finish up the tree, now that ornament hooks came. We have a few ornaments that needed hooks to be hung because of a lack of a hook or a small string that would make it hard to put onto the tree. It still has a lot of ornaments on it though. That sounds like the best tree topper, light up or not. Yup, though the surprise was almost spoiled. Mom saw an e-mail with it, and called it a Madame Alexander thing, which is funny since she use to collect those. My mom is big into doll collecting, and has Barbies, she even has the whole set of Wizard of Oz Barbies. I had to open up one last year. Mom heard a noise from her closet and one doll malfunctioned as it started talking... she never knew Glinda Barbie said "There's no place like home," so we had to open it and remove the battery. Did scare her though as she didn't even know it talked, and had it for 20 years, lol.
Yeah, on the living room table it's just the snowy church, on another table it's a gingerbread house that lights up. That's all we have out. She always liked decorations like that.
I always enjoy using the wheel from time to time, it's the closest I can get to an arcade-y feel. I usually use a regular controller, and looking forward to Wednesday! Those new tracks!
I think the My Little Pony and Trolls ones are spread out, I have one section for Trolls, but I have my first Trolls ornament, and the holiday special one on the other side of the tree. I just like grouping most characters together. It's like that with Mario, Sonic, Paw Patrol (these were on the tree for my nephew when he was little, now I just put them up as tradition), Frozen all stay together. Just a habit I have. It looks great, I have my Mario flying towards my Peach ornament, like he's flying to save her.
@Sunsy Yeah I had all three as well. During that time my mom worked as a supervisor at McDonalds so I would get full sets of Happy Meal Toys and other things like the Muppet plushies. Still has them too until a year and half ago when a fire burned down my garage which they were in with my other Christmas decorations.
Wow, I'm really sorry to hear you don't have them anymore and that happened.
I haven't seen mine in years, and they're lost forever, including Gonzo. Though did get a baby Gonzo plush from the more recent Disney Junior reboot series out of nostalgia.
@Sunsy Thanks. She's recovering well, though it'll take some time yet. She is doing well in physical therapy last I knew, and she's getting around a little better. Things will be better still when her stitches are removed.
The Illumination Grinch movie is, now that I think about it, probably my favorite adaptation. I wasn't expecting too much when I watched it in theaters, but I was pleasantly surprised. Despite the advent of streaming, I still like the theater experience...as long as I don't go during peak hours.
That's good to hear. Similarly, my friend was sick and I was worried about him. Good news he's getting better, and in time to see the movie too. Spoke with him earlier and the cough was pretty much gone.
I have to agree with that, I love the original and I like Jim Carrey adaptation, but Illumination's version actually ended up being my favorite. Same, most of the time I go to a theater, it's usually quiet. Only packed movies I was in was Sonic 2, the second showing of Trolls World Tour I went to this past summer (like half the theater was full, guess those there really wanted to see it on the big screen as much as I did, given it did skip theaters in 2020), surprisingly Howl's Moving Castle. My friend and I went to that, and when the movie was over, we were surprised how packed the room was.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
