@Anti-Matter Its not that they don't want to talk about it, put you normally post about during a already active convo about mario kart.

Crash team racing is the bomb, that and a few select other kart racers make it on my list of good kart racers that aren't mario kart.

Speaking about Harvest Moon or now it called Story of Seasons, that game was very popular in my country Indonesia since from PS1 era and I have ever played Harvest Moon Back to Nature on PS1 during early year 2000 and my siblings and my cousins were also like to play that game. I grew up by Harvest Moon Back to Nature PS1 so I quickly adapted the gameplay from other Harvest Moon games on Wii and Gamecube as my first Harvest Moon games on Nintendo machines. Short story, I felt disappointed with current Story of Seasons games on 3DS as I do not like with current character design that don't look really appealing for me added with the stiff body gestures on 3DS version. The remake of Friends of Mineral Town was pretty good in graphic and fps but the character design was drastically changed until I didn't really recognized the characters I knew them from Back to Nature. I still on the fence with Pioneer of Olive Town as the incomplete game and some bugs founded from the game put me in nervous. I really hope Pioneer of Olive Town will get PS4 release and hopefully the games has been fixed from all the issues and the lack contents.

Oh, speaking about CTR, what are the unique features from CTR that Mario Kart still don't have yet ?
On my game purchase list, I have agenda to consider CTR PS4 version (Sorry, not the Switch version) but I must know if the game is still easy enough to get 1st place with all the drama and traps on the tracks.

@Anti-Matter From what I played during the trail, what your going to have to learn is drifting, its much different from mario kart, and if you don't learn how your going to get ruined.

As for traps, nothing that different.

Oh, gosh.
Drifting galore from CTR.
So I want to know the button schemes for Accelerate, Brake, Drifting, Use item from CTR as I admit Mario Kart games have the best button schemes with A button to accelerate, R button to drift, L button to use item, hold L button to use the shell as the shield from back attack.

@Anti-Matter I sadly don't remember, but I think it was about the same from mario kart.

@BruceCM Oh yeah that Tangled gif I posted. I'm not currently rehearsing or anything, just thought I'd post that gif as a way to express my excitement for the Nintendo Direct. Funnily enough, I have taken an acting class!

@Snatcher Yeah, it's been happening to me on occasion. That's why I removed my friend code. It doesn't happen all the time of course, but that doesn't annoy me any less. Goes to show the importance of making connections with people on online communities like this one.

I had a friend of mine from the New Horizons thread who either had stuff stolen from their island, or their island got messed up somehow. Maybe someone ran on their flowers or whatever. Don't remember the whole specifics, unfortunately, but yeah...that's a really good reason for me to be cautious. Whatever it was, I don't want that happening to me.

@Sunsy Oh that's cool you got to play Klonoa on a PS2 kiosk. I remember playing a demo of Super Monkey Ball 2 when I was at a Target store nearly two decades ago. That's how I got to know about the game, as well.

Sounds like a good way to celebrate your birthday. I got some eShop credit for my birthday and I spent it on the DLC itself. Yeah, I'm pretty glad that some courses from Mario Kart Tour are coming, since I can actually use a controller this time around. I didn't like the touch screen controls and my phone struggled to run it. Some of the tracks I'd like to see include Mario Circuit 4, Kalimari Desert, Daisy Cruiser, Mushroom City, Peach Gardens, Maple Treeway, Moonview Highway, and even Rosalina's Ice World. There's so many good ones! Delfino Square is a good pick as well.

That Zazzle shop sounds cool. I'm guessing Disney discontinued that or something? Yeah, that was a bit of a bummer to lose that shirt. Especially since I love the classic Sonic games.

Decent Nintendo Direct overall. What I'm excited for out of that bunch:

  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (YES YES YES!)
  • Live A Live (Very intrigued! Never heard of this one before)
  • More Kirby and the Forgotten Land footage
  • Triangle Strategy demo (Been on the fence, so this is welcome)
  • Advance Wars 1+2 release date (Finally!)
  • Portal: Companion Collection (I'll probably just get this on Steam, but the option is welcome)

I'm also mildly intrigued by the new Fire Emblem Warriors reveal, but it's hard for me to comment on it until I sit down to play Three Houses. As for Chrono Cross, I'm...not sure how to feel about it TBH. On one hand, it's related to one of my favorite JRPGs. On the other, I've heard some very mixed things about the game. I'm also not usually a graphics nut, but...I feel Square Enix could have put in a bit more effort.

@MarioLover92 Oh gosh, those rubber bands on the main block piece...THAT took me a bit lol. I've made it through 8 out of 13 bags so far. Best of luck to you as well! It's definitely a fun build. Fair warning that some sections have plenty of small pieces.

Despite my somewhat lukewarm reception for Sonic 2, the soundtrack is indeed solid. I didn't know that about Sonic CD; is there a listed reason or reasons as to why so many of the tunes changed? If I recall, that bit in Aladdin dealt with falling debris and lava. It was the equivalent of Battletoads for young Tyranexx! (Though I'm sure the latter is harder)

Super Paper Mario had some odd gameplay mechanics, but there were some moments where a change in mechanics, such as the dating sim bit, were an absolute joy! The story is pretty amazing, and the soundtrack is great too. Color Splash is flawed, but still fun. The writing is decent, Thing cards are fun albeit OP, and I had a lot of fun finding and filling in paint spots. On the other side of the coin, I found the mechanics for normal cards to be meh (and borderline frustrating when it comes to a certain enemy), and there is a point in the game where your paint progress can be undone.

@Vortexeo I managed to watch the Direct a little over two hours after it aired. Pretty decent overall, something for almost everyone! I had one thing spoiled for me beforehand, but it was the new Mario Strikers game. No harm done since I don't gravitate to sports series, even if they do feature characters I'm fond of.

@Sunsy I hope it turns out well! I use an electronic thermometer just to make sure. I've gotten my oven/timings down to where I can almost guess that everything is correct lol (But I still check).

I actually can’t wait to get Coconut Malled on the go. Also, y’know that section with the parking lot, and how the Miis is the cars were from your system? I hope they keep that and i hope they dont replace them with Toads.

Just admit it at this point, you looked at my notes and paraphrased them! Especially the complaint about Chrono Cross! In all seriousness that was... a mega Direct. THE mega Direct. Every game you listed I'm going to at least seriously consider getting, at worst, and unconditionally buying the collector's edition of, at best.

It's just Xenoblade 3 I refer to with that last point. I already know it's going to be very good.

Maybe someone here was a bit ticked off about how unbeatable your Mario Kart times are? I know I am! Now I'll have to adapt to almost fifty new courses, and suck twice as hard! But believe me, I'm very excited for the new tracks, I can't believe they're making so many, and at a good price for once.

It's a great demo this time, @Tyranexx ..... The 1st 3 chapters, so you aren't thrown into the middle of the story with all the people & lots of abilities! I'll definitely get Chrono Cross Remastered on Steam & since Live a Live looks quite FF, I'm bound to get that. There's already physical pre-orders up for the latter, if that helps persuade anyone

@TheJGG Speaking of tough times on Mario Kart. I can't even hang with some of my older times.🤣 My 150cc time on Toad Harbor is a couple years old, and I can't keep up. The start and first lap are hard to reproduce - it's like I was a true crazy person when I set that personal best.

My older times may have my old username on them, "Anderiah" (Anderiah = Andy with a biblical sounding suffix, Ned Flanders inspired.)

I saw your Mario Circuit times. You used your mushroom to hit the glider ramp in the grass. I did the same thing for a while until I dicovered using the mushroom to gut through the grass at the last corner is the bigger time saver.

And, that Mario Circuit staff ghost is tough AF to beat, for 200cc. I think the trick was using the bike setup the staff ghost had, it takes turns really fast, and seems to get longer boost than most karts. I'm not good with those bikes, so, I struggled to use it well. I don't recall if I beat that ghost or not (I was trying to beat it last week).

Speaking about Mario Kart, I still found nobody here ever discuss about how to improve next Mario Kart games by adding with new QoL or new features that still haven't been implemented yet such as Track Editor + Detailed character and vehicles customization from Modnation Racers, Three different type of vehicles (Land, Water, Air vehicles type) from Skylanders Superchargers, Transformable vehicles (Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed).
I was the only one who have different thought about improving Mario Kart games while most peoples here just keep thinking about older Mario Kart tracks will be used for the DLC and didn't show any interest to compare or share their experiences from other kart racing games.
I always think some of other kart racing games by different company have something that Mario Kart games still don't have yet.

@WoomyNNYes My times used to be at least ok, but I'm rusty has heck. That will all change soon.

@Anti-Matter Because those kart racers are doing there own thing, those aren't really QOL improvements, its just a personal preference, it would count as a QOL change if there was an issue in the first place, But mario kart is mario kart, crash racing is crash racing, Sonic, mod, skylanders, all those games are doing there own thing with racers.

And in my opinion, don't need to be plaster'd into the mario kart series.

@Tyranexx I made it through 8 bags as well, so we're pretty neck and neck, lol. Thanks for the fair warning, yeah I do see that there's a lot of small pieces! Peach's castle is looking quite nice.

For Sonic CD, I'm not quite sure. I think it's because the guys at Sega of America thought the original Japanese soundtrack didn't really fit the game, so they got Spencer Nilsen to compose a brand new soundtrack, which is generally more atmospheric I find. Only the past themes for all the zones remained intact from the Japanese soundtrack, those were played back by the Sega CD's PCM audio instead of redbook.

Ah yeah I did see some videos of Color Splash and yeah, the writing does look pretty good! Origami King's writing was likewise just as good, if not better I think. It does a similar thing with those holes in the environment, which you'd cover up with confetti. The battles aren't too bad, though the bosses are generally pretty tough with setting up paths.

I liked the Nintendo Direct as well, there's quite a few things I'm excited for, like Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and especially Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's DLC.

@TheJGG I doubt it. Some people browsing the NL boards must have just seen my friend code, punched it in, then tried to add me. All without replying to any of my posts to let me know, and in turn, having some sort of conversation with me.

Most of the time when I play Mario Kart, I'd hop into online. I haven't put too much time into time trials as of this post. Yeah, that DLC is a really good value! Just 48 new courses is a staggering amount of content, though I kind of would've liked to use the character costumes from Mario Kart Tour as well.

I kind of have to agree with you on Splatoon 3, to be honest. I get that there are folks out there who are excited for it, and I'm happy for them! It's just that it doesn't look like a big step up from its predecessor to me. Kinda wish they waited until the next Nintendo console to make the next Splatoon game, but eh, it is what it is.

@Anti-Matter I think Mario Kart needs a dedicated weaponless online race mode, or mushrooms only. The tournament option is too spotty for weaponless options, and tedius to search through. So many of those tournaments are empty. There's no way to see which ones are actually active with racers.

I also want Mario Kart to say what modes your friends are playing.

I'd also like to see Mario Kart get events like Splatoon has Splatfests. During splatfests, all the maps get a nighttime dance club lighting treatment, with neon lights and stuff. It's super cool. I'd like to see Mario Kart Tracks get similar treatment. (this will probably never happen though.)

Otherwise, I'm not sure what new racing feature they could add to Mario Kart. The gliders are great. Oh, I want a first person view option, like that Mario Kart GP VR. Mario Kart 7 had a first person view. I like using it sometimes, but they need side view mirrors so you can see cars around & behind you.

I'd love it Crash Team Racing put out a sequel, especially with shorter load times. I love the drift boost system in that game. (granted, it is harder for people to learn, if they are new, but it's so worth it to put in 1-3 hours learning it). The game is great, but the load times are painful. Online and offline, there's too much waiting through load screens.

@MarioLover92 Splatoon 2 in my opinion pretty much looked like a port with some updates, lets just hope they haven't shown much of the game yet.

Also does anyone know who the heck is billy? they sent me a friend request, I want to make sure its from someone on here.
