Has anyone heard of GB Studio? I was thinking of using it sometime to start off my game making journey. It's a program that lets you make Game Boy games and I think it'd be a good introduction for me, especially since I've been wanting to make retro-inspired games. I first heard about it while watching a review of the Analogue Pocket.

@Sunsy I think the last VHS tape I got was Sonic OVA. 2004, I think. After that, I moved on to DVDs and blu-rays.

I first learned about SMAS + SMW on a Mario fan site too. We never had that version, we just had them on separate cartridges. I have Sonic 1 on a good number of platforms too, I have the original Genesis cart somewhere and I also have it on Sonic Mega Collection, Wii VC, and the Sega Ages version on Switch. I'm actually considering getting Sega 3D Classics Collection for my 3DS, mainly to play more of Sega's classics.

Yeah...that's weird. I didn't run into that issue, but then again, I always used the GamePad to play MK8 and many other Wii U games.

@Tyranexx I have the Super Mario 64 Lego set too! I didn't make it as far as you though, I pretty much just started. I went ahead and took pics of the first segment I did. Here they are:

I'll definitely take pics of the finished product, too!

@Anti-Matter Yeah, they'll probably do that. That didn't really matter to me though, I would just have fun with the game itself.

@Tyranexx That Lego set looks really cool!

@Anti-Matter I have no opinion on third party Wii Sports-like games. The only games that felt close was Sega Superstars Tennis, that played like Wii tennis.

@MarioLover92 That's cool, I still kept my copy of OVA on VHS despite not having a VCR in years. I biy both, I tend to get Blu-Ray/DVD combos. Have a Blu-Ray for the living room, but have a DVD player in my room, so I lean for both. I think the only movie I bought separately on Blu-Ray was Trolls, just to upgrade it, have a DVD copy from when the movie was new.

The Sega 3D Classics Collection is a cool collection, plus it's a physical copy of 3D Sonic the Hedgehog, which is kind of cool, and adds to the amount of Sonic 1 you have, lol. The 3D made the games pop quite a bit.

Tell me about it, I tried the game again, and now the nun-chuk acted like it had drift while I was trying to turn. Played a few online races with the Wii U Game Pad, no issues. Played Super Mario 3D World afterwards with the same Wii remote plus and nun-chuk, no problems whatsoever. All I found was a reddit thread with someone having similar issues, but no answer to why this happens only in Mario Kart 8.

I'm not too worried as I have extra Wii remotes (2 regular and 1 extra plus), but it is an odd problem as the controller works in menus and other games.

Well....
Looks like some peoples here has no interest with certain 3rd party games.
Since I like to try other similar games such as Kinect Adventures, Kinect Sports, Decades Sports, etc I was thinking if Nintendo want to make their sport compilation games again for Nintendo Switch as the similar games on other machines helped me to get some number of games I can play on it.
Anyway, have you ever played Kinect games on XBOX 360 ?

Anti-Matter

Sunsy

@Anti-Matter I haven't, when my brother had an Xbox 360, I mostly played Rock Band doing the singing. I was surprisingly good at it too. He borrowed the game from a friend at one point.

Just never really found the need to play third party versions of Wii Sports and similar games. I do play third party games on Nintendo systems, just not Wii Sports-like games outside Sega Superstars Tennis, and I guess the Mario & Sonic Olympics if you wanted to count it.

@BruceCM It was a late birthday present, actually!

@Sunsy I actually wouldn't get blu-rays until later, as I didn't have a means to watch them in my room. I got a DVD set of the Back to the Future trilogy as a result. It wasn't until my cousin lent me a PS3 that I could finally watch blu-rays. I ended up getting Sega 3D Classics Collection with my Amazon gift card credit, just gotta wait for it to arrive.

Maybe the game has motion controls turned on for the Wii Remote and Nunchuk? I could be wrong. It's been a while since I played it on Wii U.

Tagging @tekoii and @TheJGG for the latest XC2 info (Everyone else is tagged below). This isn't a meaty update since there was a ton of fighting, some death, and trial and error involved. Plus, I've been sidetracked at times by Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

  • Surprise, surprise, the inside of the World Tree is really a towering building; climbing it is seriously no joke. Not to mention some of the enemies like summoning their friends, making life a huge pain in the rear. It took me awhile to figure out how to progress at one point until I realized I had to use a panel to lower the water level in the waste facility.
  • To add to the above point, I admittedly had to consult a guide for finding the password container; those virus-like things in this area kept causing me a LOT of problems.
  • As I suspected, Amalthus isn't as benevolent as Alrest at large thinks he is; seems like he's run out of patience with Rex & Co., so Indol itself along with its military force are hammering on Torna's (the organization) warship. Indol is now a hostile entity, so it's a good thing I'm not aiming for 100% completion!
  • Amalthus clearly did NOT have a great childhood; it's easy to see how 1. he basically hates the world, and 2. his desires strangely align with Malos, the Aegis he awakened. I'm interested to see where this plot thread ends up....
  • I admit I'm now a bit confused about something: Is Jin telling the truth that Amalthus is the one who REALLY destroyed Torna, or was the Titan indeed felled in the battle between Mythra and Malos?

@BruceCM, @Snatcher, @Fizza, @MarioLover92, @Sunsy I'll be sure to post a few pics when finished. It's definitely a fun, yet complicated build; I've made a couple of mistakes so far. Nothing that couldn't be undone, but one flat piece had me working at it for 10-15 minutes. XD I'm very glad they include a brick remover with the whole suite. That came in handy with a different piece.

@BruceCM The game tells what they are, eh? Either I haven't made it that far yet, or I've missed some vital info. XD

@Zuljaras Cool! I'll have to check it out.

@Sunsy I don't often stock fresh lemons, hence why I use the seasoning lol. I never thought to use dill though, so I might try that. Many thanks for mentioning it! The "bean concoction" has taken some experimentation, and I'm not sure if it would be to everyone's taste lol. I add about four servings of pinto beans (pre-soaked) and simmer them in a crockpot for several hours. I add random fresh vegetables on hand (usually a tomato, some green beans, carrots, etc.) and various seasonings and spices: Italian seasoning, cumin, chili powder, and garlic powder. I also tried it with a bit of Tabasco this time, and that REALLY turned up the heat! It turned out well; I added too much water last time.

It was sunny but cold here today. It's supposed to get above freezing a few times over the next week, so I suspect the snow will gradually start melting.

@MarioLover92 It turned out to be a dry snow, so at least it was fairly easy to clear my driveway. I'm also excited that you're working your way through the Super Mario 64 Lego ? Block set!

Ah yes, Casino Night is another level I enjoy the music to; can't believe I forgot about that one! Aquatic Ruin was memorable too, though I became very acquainted with Sonic drowning lol. My memory is foggy regarding Aladdin, but I think it was during the escape sequence to try and leave the cave before it closed up, before Aladdin meets Genie in the movie.

Besides the praises sung about TTYD, I've enjoyed the previous Paper Marios I've played - Super Paper Mario and Paper Mario: Color Splash - though I realize those were after Nintendo's idea shift away from a traditional RPG format. If you can get a hold of HG/SS for a reasonable price, I highly recommend them! I own SoulSilver and it (and by extension, HeartGold) is my favorite game in the Pokemon series. Retro collecting can be tricky and expensive, which is why I never fully got into it. And yep, GCN games in the NSO expansion would finally convince me to get it too.

@Vortexeo Ironically, until the latter half of last month, this winter had been pretty mild so far. We certainly get snow here, but not as much as in years past. Winter in early 2014 was pretty brutal here though; we had two massive snows that dumped a foot apiece about a month apart. I don't mind a few inches of snow, but the amount we got is about where my tolerance ends lol. I'll take it any day over pure ice/freezing rain, which we did get a bit of before the layer of snow covered it all.

Still plugging away at XC2. Points to above

@MarioLover92 That's actually why I still buy DVDs too, the option to watch in my room. Cool, enjoy it when it comes.

Don't know, but I think I came to a conclusion, my Wii Remote Plus is failing in some way. I tried Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games, a game the requires Wii Motion Plus or a Wii Remote Plus (whoever decided to not make this compatible with a regular old Wii remote, shame on you), and I got a message saying the Wii Motion Plus accessory was not attached, even though it's a Wii Remote Plus. Popping the battery in and out, and it worked until I needed to calibrate, and the calibration icon was just spinning despite the Wii Remote Plus staying still. The Wii Remote Plus still worked with Sega Superstars Tennis when I tried it.

I do have another Wii Remote Plus, and two Wii remotes. Wii Remote Plus is only a concern because Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games requires it for most events. In fact, I rarely use the other Wii Remote Plus just to keep it in good shape.

Winter Olympic 2022 at Beijing is already started since several days ago.
I never expected the event will be started very soon, I thought it will be started on December 2022.
I wonder if SEGA want to make another Olympic Games on Switch and PS4 / PS5.

EDIT: I feel like a proper idiot for not mentioning the Direct. Yeehaw! I hope everyone gets what they're hoping for (within reason). I'm gonna have a good time in the live chat with everyone.

I've been busy but I have some time to catch up with everyone here. Hope everyone's doing well as usual.

My gaming exploits... I've put some time into SMT V. It's... just... so weird, I swear. Out are the meaningful relationship building mechanics in Persona and in comes heavy and customisable demon collecting. I was never big into Persona/Demon fusion so this was a new element to explore. Storytelling wise it's also strange. Cutscenes feel so detached from the main game and lore dumps are massive. But the religious overtones are really cool and the graphics are very nice. Love Nahobino's design to pieces.

NieR: Replicant. Jeez this game is over the top. I went to the Desert Temple and tried all the restrictive puzzles. In retrospect they do an incredible job of establishing the "contrived rules" theme, but at the time I was internally screaming as to how a game can be this purposefully intent on wasting time. It took lots of patience to avoid shutting down the game, and thank god that reason paid off because I didn't want to go through that sandstorm again. The music's a standout component as always. Emi Evans and Keiichi Okabe & team, take a bow.

@Snatcher Saw that you got Stardew Valley, and I couldn't be happier for you. I offer the same, if you need any help tag me too, and I'll see if I can give you any tips. I'm no expert of the game at all but I know it well enough. Certainly not as much as @Eel however.

@Tyranexx Glad you're still going strong with Xenoblade. It gets very interesting around about where you are now, at least at the time of writing.

I feel like while the Torna group become more sympathetic it really doesn't and shouldn't excuse them from all the stuff they did in the past. Jin was essentially Alrest's one-man-army equivalent of AVALANCHE from Final Fantasy VII, and Malos is a seriously twisted fellow. The writers portray him as ultimately a puppet to Amalthus' bidding, since... he was the first and only man to drive Malos anyhow, but it's still difficult to buy into it.

Some of the standoff moments at the end of Chapter 9 are fantastic though, because I love the whole idea of facing down the head of what is essentially a religious cult of Core Crystal collecting purists. It's always good when religion gets brought into the fold.

Do enjoy assembling the "? Block", I'm a little jealous of you! LEGO has become very expensive, unfortunately, so it's been tough to look such a great piece of kit in the eye and refuse, but my wallet'll thank me later. Hopefully you like what you see!

@Tyranexx It's so funny, I always associate such cold weather and snow with December around Christmas time but late January and February are really when it gets worse (at least where I live that is lol).
