@MarioLover92 Thanks. Yeah, the funny thing is I've beaten the Game Boy Color and NES versions of Super Mario Bros before, but never the Super Mario All-Stars version. Amusing part, I played that version first as a kid. That sounds like a really nice sweater. Here's the sweat shirt I have. Yes, it is Christmas themed, but I still wear it since it's one of the few Peach shirts I have, it's not common she appears on shirts in men's sizes (I also have a short sleeve version, and two other Peach shirts).
I don't think I've seen the 2003 TMNT series, coincidentally, I did watch the 2016 movie last night. I was late to the Sonic X party, I started watching in 2007. Which is surprising since I still played the games at the time too, I think I missed it since mom would go out on Saturdays. Wow, I forgot all about that splatfest.
It was surprising, and I actually had it at one point. When my brother and dad got their Game Boy Pockets, it had the power light. Mine was weird, but that silver was too cool. Felt futuristic when I got mine.
I have some Sailor Moon on DVD, the Viz dub with the original Japanese version with subtitles. I grew up watching the Dic dub.
That arcade was one of the coolest things in Pac-Man World 2. I had a lot of fun with that platformer. It was kind of cool playing Pac-Man as a platformer. I have the Ghostly Adventures on Wii U, and Pac-Man World 2 came to mind since it felt a bit similar. Like collecting dots and platforming.
That's cool, I did watch quite a few Nicktoons during my teen years. I just couldn't get into shows most "teens" liked, so I still stuck with cartoons and Disney in those days. I tried watching MTV, and other things that were considered "age appropriate," just didn't like them, so I just went back to what I enjoyed.
@ogo79 Nice to hear you're playing some retro games here and there.
@Anti-Matter Sorry to hear about that, still want wish you a Happy Chinese New Year.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
@Sunsy
The last time we can celebrate Chinese New Year was year 2020, before pandemic started to spread out in my hometown Surabaya.
Year 2021 was off due to a restriction to not celebrate Chinese New Year for having family member passed away before 1 year.
Year 2022 is off again, still pandemic.
And to think the relatives from my family, there were some relatives passed away during year 2011 - 2020.
My Dad passed away in year 2014.
My young cousin (1st son) from 3rd brother uncle family passed away in year 2017.
My uncle from Mom's youngest brother (4th sibling) passed away in year 2019.
My auntie (2nd sister), my uncle (3rd brother) from Dad's side passed away in year 2020.
My grandma from Mom's side passed away in year 2020.
Today is birthday of my fictional character, Jayden Snowfield on 2 February. 🎂❄
He is a Winter boxer with icy blue hair and has natural ability to stay in cold place with topless.
Kinda like Gray Fulbuster.
No XC2 update for now. I've been either busy or, when I do feel like gaming, putting a bit of time here and there into Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Not sure if I'll be able to sound off much over the next couple of days; a winter storm is supposed to roll through tomorrow and Thursday, first leaving a bit of ice (ugh) and bringing at least 6 inches (~15 cm) or more of snow. I should be fine and am able to work from home...provided my power doesn't go out long-term. I'm mainly concerned about the ice and the high winds accompanying some of the storm.
@Sunsy I saw your post in the NL Cooks Thread; both dishes looked delicious! I like most seafood, though I've never had clam so can't comment on it. I'd certainly try the pasta and clam sauce.
I'm in the lower Midwest, and we're certain to get dumped on now lol. We're at least supposed to get less ice now, but the tradeoff is the snow amounts will likely be higher. Hopefully it stays around 6 in.
@Vortexeo I do agree that XC2 could explain some of its systems better; that seems to be a common complaint online. I think it has helped that I've played both XC:DE and XCX before now. Ah, so that request was from you? I'll be sure to accept next time I'm on my Switch!....Hopefully in about an hour.
@ogo79 Hello, dear fellow. Moving you say? That is quite time-consuming.
@Anti-Matter Happy Chinese New Year! Tigers are beautiful animals. My condolences on your losses over the last year.
@MarioLover92 I had a hard time with the Chemical Plant Zone too; the music was at least catchy! The drowning music is suitably terrifying lol. Not to mention Sonic's death animation. Moving block stages....I'm not the biggest fan of those in classic games. I much prefer scrolling levels in games like the NES Mario titles.
On instruction manuals: That's understandable if you're familiar with the original SM64! I unfortunately never knew anyone with a N64 or GameCube, so I missed out on a lot of home console Nintendo games in that era.
@Tyranexx Thanks, I'm not big on seafood. Though I will eat salmon, tilapia, and crab cakes. Clam sauce is something I learned from mom, and it's one of my mom's favorite dishes. I usually make it for her, but will use tomato or Alfredo sauce on mine. My mom's side of the family is Italian, so I know quite a bit of Italian cooking.
Ooh, hope it stays around 6 inches then. Considering the snow storm we had, I was surprise how clean the road was. Usually they're lazy where I live with cleaning it. Went to a store with a friend today, so got to see what it was like outside.

Well, XC2's main problem with it's tutorials is throwing too much at you at a time ..... Fortunately, even when it came out there were people who'd played the previous games who helped those of us who hadn't with it! Going to start Life is Strange Remastered after catching up on forums
Finally played SNES online for the first time with a friend. Fortunately, everything went smooth sailing! We played Super Mario Kart first, then Super Mario World.
@Sunsy That sweatshirt looks really nice! Thanks for sharing with us. I always liked that picture of Peach, with her pleasantly surprised expression. Looks like she's really happy for you to have a sweatshirt of her.
Ah, I see. That sounds like a reasonable explanation for you watching Sonic X late. One of my memories with the show was that there was one Saturday where I had to come play soccer, so I would have my grandmother tape the then-latest episode. All because I didn't want to miss it, lol. I had one of those Game Boy Advance video carts that had the first two episodes too. (Wonder if anyone reading this remembers those?)
That silver GBP you had sounds cool. I remember those clear Game Boy Colors where you'd see the hardware components inside, those looked cool too, though I ended up with a grape-colored one.
I never played Ghostly Adventures, but I have played the original Pac-Man World as well. That was for the original PlayStation. I actually played it again a few years ago. I could never beat that ruins boss though, and that was literally the second world. What was with the difficulty spike, guys???
That's good. Similar experience as you, I never liked live-action dramas or anything like that, but just like you I do enjoy Disney films. I actually really like comedies as well, like Airplane for example. So, it's really more of a taste thing. Same thing with games, where I had a hard time getting into certain games that just happened to be for a more mature audience. I played a small amount of stuff like Call of Duty, Uncharted, and God of War (the PS4 version), and yeah...I didn't like those. Give me Super Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Sonic, Mega Man, etc. any day.
@Anti-Matter Happy belated Lunar New Year. My condolences go to you and your family - really sorry to hear about your losses.
@Tyranexx Agreed - I can hear the music for Chemical Plant already, lol. That drowning music is indeed terrifying! That's understandable, levels with moving platforms can also be tricky. I feel that Mario games are generally better with their levels, since you have more time to react and you're more in control.
Ah yeah, I remember you didn't get to play GameCube games back when they came out. It's probably Nintendo's most underappreciated home console, at least back in the console's heyday. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I want them to rerelease their GameCube classics in some form.
"Give yourself the gift of being joyfully you."
Favorite games: Super Mario 3D World, Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Playing: Hollow Knight
Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I'd like to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
Out of curiosity are you from Texas? I also got a winter storm warning as well 😅. I'm not exactly the biggest fan of the cold haha
@Vortexeo Ahh! Ys has interested me, I just hadn't gotten to try it yet. I like that Ys combat is real time, that always a plus, though I do like a bit of everything ^^! @Tyranexx Lol yup Nia is a Flesh Eater. I feel a bit derp but when it comes to XC2, but all the surprises always got me. I prefer Nia as a driver too, but it was so cool to realize you can equip your own party member as a blade, like what? Yes, Addam is the forever-bro. I literally had to look it up, he just wouldn't die, I thought I was doing something wrong. At that point, it feels like it wasn't designed well. Lmao, what!? A Heart-to-heart with Tora and Morag in a hot spring? Oh dear me. Never seen it but it sounds funny and scary. That is pretty interesting actually, that Nia heals and Malos destroys. After that though follows the best parts of the game imo, though there are seriously cool moments spread out before this. Ohh i hear that, I mean Morag is tough competition. @TheJGG Awesome! It sounds great, I love how light-hearted and happy it sounds! @Sunsy Ahh nice, that's the power of PC mods Yea, I had heard about Boom being not held in high regard. For sure, there are plenty of games that people just would not enjoy but someone does. I'm playing this game Valdis Story on my YT, that game is a really cool metroid-vania, but I don't think too many people heard of it. Also, people don't like much the platforming bits of the game, the fairly shallow armor crafting and skill tree systems. Ahh.. I'm still late to Generations, still wanna play it ><; Ahh yea, that's awesome there's a <3ds version. Looks like we need to do some more Mega-manning XD. @MarioLover92 LOL that heyday is totally like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXasCjUTNpE
I'd say I'm the same, I'm much more primed and excited for a potential Odyssey 2 than say Halo Infinite, though I understand they are two enormously different games. Thank you! Yea I want to try to draw and improve more! Yea, I heard generally MMX-3 are the SNES classics that everyone loves. Then there's the X4-7 which were PS1, I think, that X4-X6 are good, but yea X7 woof.
@MarioLover92 Thank you! Despite the Christmas theme, I still wear it all winter due to it being a shirt with Peach on it. I always liked that picture of Peach too. Here's one of the short sleeve shirts I have, I got this as a birthday gift along with Super Mario Party one year. Despite the shirt being pink, it's a men's style shirt (to be honest, I never had an issue wearing pink).
Yeah, when I was younger, Saturday morning cartoons were hard to watch as we would typically go out. So some shows I missed out on, only getting to watch them later on. Sounds busy, mostly for mom, my brother, and I, it was either shopping or having breakfast out. Yes, I remember those GBA Video carts. I had the Jimmy Neutron one. I thought it was impressive at the time, especially Jimmy Neuton due to the animation being computer animated, and having a lot of color to it.
My brother had the clear Game Boy Pocket, and a neighbor had a clear model of the original Game Boy. I had the original grey Game Boy, and the Game Boy Color I had was grape.
Never had the chance to play the original Pac-Man World, even though my brother had a PlayStation. Wow, a difficulty spike. I don't recall that in Pac-Man World 2, so I take it a Pac-Man World 1 thing.
I agree, it's more of a taste thing. I do enjoy comedy movies too. Anything animated or comedy, I really enjoy watching. With games, I enjoyed stuff like Sonic, Mario, Kirby, and Star Fox, also, I did enjoy some of the mature games, like Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike. I even played the original Call of Duty during my later teen years, back when it was based off the Quake III engine (also I loved id Software's classics).
@tekoii Yup, PC mods are so much fun. I think my favorite Sonic mod is Amy Adventure 2, changes every playable character in Sonic Adventure 2 to Amy, lol. Indeed, everyone has different tastes, sometimes people do enjoy a game others dislike. Personally, I also liked Balan Wonderworld despite people disliking it. That's cool, I'm glad you enjoy the game. Generations is fun. Yeah, I do too, I need to check out more of the series. I think I have one of the Mega Man games on my SNES Mini.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
I was watching a video just there about the weirdest things you've overheard people say and I just remembered one of my favourite stories from a few years back.
So, context. I was in London at the Emirates stadium back in I think 2018? for an Arsenal match with my Dad. We had managed to get some of the highest seats in the ground so it was practically a bird's eye view for all of it. Arsenal were playing Manchester United and it was a miracle we were able to get the seats we did. They ended up winning 2-0 in the end which was great, fantastic and all of that kind of stuff.
However, something that happened during the match has stuck with me since it happened all those years ago. There were these two British Arsenal supporters about two rows in front of us and they were proper British yobs. Beers in hand, fully clad in scarves and jerseys, yelling constantly, the whole shabang. Well, midway through the second half, Man Utd won a free kick and either one of them or both of them (can't remember) said the greatest line I have ever heard in my life: 'THAT REFS A F!"$£^£" PRAWN!!!'
It's lived rent free in my head all these years and I still bring it out in conversations to this day. It is absolutely incredible.

Tagging @TheJGG and @Snatcher for the latest XC2 update (everyone else is mentioned below):
Turns out I was close to the end of Chapter 7. The fight against Malos (This guy doesn't give up) and Jin was hard, and I wasn't doing the best...and then plot stuff happened. Pyra/Mythra WEREN'T human (er, Blade) vegetables and wanted Rex to leave them, Rex said not happening, he accepted their entire power and they became...Pythra? Anyway, they truly became one, gave Rex some cool armor, and then both Rex and Blade proceeded to be awesome.
Malos was, unfortunately, able to gain full control of Ophion, who nearly obliterated the whole party until Siren intervened. They had a heck of a battle, which then caused the precipice all were on to collapse into the cloud sea below.... End chapter 7.
Rex and Mythra wake up in the ruins of a futuristic city; turns out this is the Land of Morytha. A very cool place to explore, albeit one filled with some freaky horrors. I found the general shift here interesting; this is a bit of a shift from a fantasy title to one with more sci-fi thrown in than I was expecting. Not a bad thing by any means, just surprising.
Turns out Jin fell down here too, so he's working with us for survival reasons. So far I've also found Brighid and Poppi and hope to locate the others soon. I stopped my last session just before entering the decaying Titan...who might be Torna?!
Side Note: Seems like Torna the group is also looking for Jin....
@Sunsy I like most forms of grilled and baked fish, same with fried but for obvious reasons I normally avoid battered fish. XD I like crab and have never had lobster, and for the most part I like the shellfish I've tried. I'm particularly fond of shrimp. I'd take the tomato sauce, though I'm not big on Alfredo.
So far there hasn't been much snow - though it's supposed to start up again in the early morning hours - but there's been a lot of freezing rain and ice where I am. I still have power, but the roads look pretty rough.
@BruceCM Yeah, there's too many tutorials at times, and XC2 throws them in at inconsistent moments. I accidentally blew through the first prompt of one last night.
@MarioLover92 I found a video detailing how Sonic drowns in many of his games lol. Seems to be pretty iconic! That could be part of my problem - I cut my teeth on Mario & Co. and didn't have a ton of experience with other platformers back then other than the hard-as-nails Disney games, such as The Lion King and Aladdin.
I'd LOVE for Nintendo to release some of their GameCube classics. I've been able to explore a small handful of them thanks to ports and remakes, but that's only the tip of the iceberg. I've considered buying a secondhand GameCube, but the prices for some of the games I wanna play...nope.
@Anti-Matter Chinese New Year isn't really celebrated where I live, though I've been aware of it for years between the internet and public television. The regular New Year (January 1st) gets a bit of press time though.
@Vortexeo Illinois, though from what I understand this system is hitting a lot of the country lol. I'm not a fan of the cold but do like snow as long as there isn't a ton of it. Then it's just annoying.
@tekoii Lol I actually had to look up how to turn Nia back into a Driver after switching her to a Blade just to try her out. If Addam were the sort, I'd joke that all the shadow clones means he has narcissistic tendencies. XD I highly recommend you tracking down that Heart-To-Heart in Mor Ardain's capital city if you play XC2 again. Things are definitely heating up; I got in a couple hours last night and hope to play a little again this evening.
