@MarioLover92 Yeah, Sonic R had a fade-in effect on PC. It wasn't fog, it was more like clear background and the track fades in as you ran. Neat.

@TheJGG Cool, that reminds me, I still need to play more of Lego Star Wars The Force Awakens on Wii U. Yeah, Monkey Ball never really had that many cameos, this is a new thing they're doing. Having some of the previous entries, it's mostly been exclusively the Monkey characters (the first game had product placement from Dole bananas).

The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!

@MarioLover92 Ahh I see, you totally should ! I'll add ya once ya do. It's nice because with PC you can customize a lot of stuff ^^.

@Tyranexx Awesome, glad you're loving the Switch. It's a great system. I love mine too!! Ironically, I think my pick-up date for the Switch was 2019 also, albeit early (or even late 2018), I dont remember xD.

Erp... Any Rocket Leaguers on here?

@TheJGG The drive-through setup was intended to enforce social distancing without packing everyone close together inside a building or even outdoors. Though I wouldn't have complained about getting a free Happy Meal out of the deal. I don't eat McDonald's (or most classic fast food) often and try to stick with healthier eateries and options the 1-2 times a week I do have a meal out, but kid's meals are a nice way to satisfy those cravings without going completely nuts lol. There are some fast food staples I can deal with, but I do quite like skinny French Fries. I've tried making my own, but they just aren't the same. Not gentle at all eh? Just business? I get wanting to be speedy and efficient, but we're talking about ramming something up almost to a person's brain here....

From what I've since learned about No Man's Sky, especially from Link-Hero's mentions, the studio should be commended for sticking with the game and delivering on it as best they could. A procedurally generated soundtrack, you say? I was gonna say I'll seek out some music from the game since I'm curious now, but finding an actual solid "track" per se might be a taller order than I thought! Seven years is about what I'd expect for some games these days, but all that from an indie studio is pretty impressive indeed. I still believe their deadline should've been pushed back. Again, I disagree with the "Release now, patch later" mentality of some publishers.

I don't put up a fuss when going through security screening, though it makes me very uncomfortable. I'm also one to make good-hearted smart@$$ remarks when I'm nervous, but I have to hold them back. The problem is I have a dry sense of humor at times, so any "serious" delivery gets fully overlooked. There are also masking inconsistencies involving flights that I'm concerned with. Should I need to fly when mask mandates are still in place, I'll refuse to take mine off even to eat in fear of the crew or a fellow passenger misunderstanding my intentions. I've never done an early morning red eye flight, though I've done a couple of late flights in my time. You're pretty on the mark with how generally quiet those times can be.

It does seem as though your work in progress has grown since I last checked the page count! I'm afraid I still haven't caught up, but that will technically be a true statement until you finish. Xenoblade's pacing is indeed spot on for the most part, though I also agree the High Entia Tomb was a slower section. Valak Mountain, beautiful as it was, didn't have much there either other than a piece of story that could've easily occurred elsewhere. No rush, especially since I get the impression your schedule is filling up too.

The big eye-openers for me were both the Wii and PC, respectively, though my cousins' PS2 also played a minor role. I didn't realize how large game worlds could BE in terms of scope and length, since most of my game console experiences were either on handhelds or older consoles like the Sega Genesis and NES/SNES before that point. Maybe that's some of my problem; most of the racing games I've played feature arcade elements. There are a couple of arcade racers I'll still play on occasion if I see a cabinet, like California Speed or Hydro Thunder (this deals with boats however). I was considering Rocket League even before it went FTP. Seems like a bit of a slap in the face for those who actually brought copies of the game however.

I usually prefer seamless transitions in open world games too. Some older games, classic though they are, do it pretty abruptly. I put some of that up to hardware limitations and capacities at that time. Snow would indeed be hard to find here during the summer unless you head to a really high altitude or there's a freak weather incident lol. Have I camped before? I went to summer camps as a kid, but that was in cabins with electricity (though no A/C) and with plumbing nearby in a separate building. I've never done tent camping or slept out under the stars. I'd like to try the former at some point, but even with proper precautions I'd likely get eaten alive if I attempted the latter.

I've since caught more about the Disney vs. Johansson debacle. That's...a hard one. I agree that suing is abused worldwide daily. It's also fairly easy to see where both parties are coming from. Johansson was promised a deal, but a pandemic quickly upending the fabric of society isn't something that's normally accounted for. Conversely, while I like Disney properties, Disney as a company is slowly digging itself into a corporate hole. Like you, I'm not rooting for either party, though it'll be interesting to learn how it all plays out unless it's settled privately.

Trying to hone those photography skills? I admit I'm normally not one who takes a lot of screenshots in my games, due in part to having little fondness for social media and me not feeling every second of my life is worth broadcasting lol. While I pity your poor internet connection, I'd be interested in seeing some of the better results of your screenshot project.

As for my birthday: Thanks! Yep, I'll be hitting the big 3-0, which makes me old enough for Over The Hill merchandise lol.

@Anti-Matter Springdale's school at night is a fun in-game location, one of my favorites. Especially in the second bunch of Yo-Kai Watch games. I didn't realize San Fantastico could be a good spot too. I know I liked exploring the school quite a bit, especially for one of the side quests that involved "hauntings" in the building. (Turns out they were Yo-Kai. Who would've guessed? XD)

Glad to read the combat in Yo-Kai Watch 3 is as improved as they say. While I like some of the combat mechanics in the first two games, I'm just not very fond of the wheel system. Are Soultimate moves also less touch screen happy? I admittedly baby my touch screens and tried my best to avoid the random touch screen games that involved a lot of circling or dragging.

@MarioLover92 That's ironic; an online friend who's put over 1000 hours into Animal Crossing: New Horizons is almost at the 100 hour mark for Monster Hunter Rise! Doubt it's the same person as the guy is no longer a posting regular here, but we met through the site's supposedly defunct chat function. I enjoyed my time with the game, though past a point it's more grindy than I'd like. It's great that Capcom keeps releasing content, but there are other games I wanna experience too.

Definitely crossing my fingers for a Direct. Though "when" is up to Nintendo. I can wait; I have enough backlogged games to keep me busy for at least a couple of years! XD They need to quit releasing games I want....

@tekoii For various reasons, I didn't cave for a Switch until late 2019 and got a very nice pre-Black Friday deal through Walmart. It involved a V2 Switch and one game from a small selection; I went with Spyro Reignited Trilogy. With tax, the whole purchase came to just over $270. Definitely a steal at the time, and very welcome during the pandemic craziness.

You still have to touch the screen to do Soultimate in Yokai Watch 3.
There are like connecting 5 orbs and avoid the spikes 3 times, spin your touch pen like previous series, touch the blue fire soul images from casino slot.

There was another grindy spot for leveling up at final door in mirage world where you have to use the orbs from mirage door you found to open the door with number of orbs given but it will be very hard since the wild Yokai over there was around level 90.

@tekoii I've updated my Nintendo Life profile with the link to my Steam profile. So all you need to do is click my username and it'll be there. I have a laptop with pretty powerful specs, so it can run pretty much any game now.

@Tyranexx Ah really? That one friend I've mentioned (his username is FattyWhale_42) has his play times hidden. So I have no clue how much time he's put in, lol. The two of us met in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons thread and he's a really cool guy. Yeah, I've been finding myself playing other games, I played Blaster Master Zero 3 just now. There's still some stuff I should do in New Horizons, like donating more fish/bugs/sea creatures to the museum, but I've been taking a lengthy break from it. I'm pretty much satisfied with how my house and island turned out...though it's still a bit of a mess with how I placed my flowers. lol

That's good. I have a bit of a backlog problem myself...especially when it comes to RPGs for some reason. Maybe it's because of how long they can be. Most of the ones I've played, I haven't even finished yet. XD I did get really far in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 though, I put around 80 hours into it.

@tekoii I did take a look at the stuff you make; it's so artsy. Well done on your stuff so far! Some of the footage you used made for some of your work, especially "Yggdrasil" from Xenoblade 2, was quite mesmerising. Keep it up, it's nice to see people do stuff for the community in their own way. I do it too. I cover music from Nintendo games plus some Final Fantasy. At first in GarageBand but I got the Logic Pro demo a few weeks ago, so I've redone a lot of my old work.

Keep on when you can though. It's good stuff.

Hiya !
I got the 8th USA Gamecube game ROBOTS after picked from my friend's house. šŸ˜€
Untitled

Untitled

The game was in Brand New condition, ordered from playasia. šŸ˜
When i visited my friend's house just now, i tried to convince him to reconsider his decision to help me to order games from playasia or Ebay when he got the right time to do my favor. It seems he might want to help me again as he wanted to take a break from importing games. I said thank you to him for helping me to order the games for 7 years, and after this i will order the games from Tokopedia as the only source to get original games from my country Indonesia. I will give him several months to take a break as my games targets are mostly from Tokopedia at the moment.

Edit: My first impression with ROBOTS gamecube version after first time playing, i was surprised to see the graphic quality it was really great and smooth in 480p and almost 60 fps, like are you kidding me ?
I thought it was like 720p 60fps.
The gameplay was similar as Ratchet & Clank style without Strafing, though it has some bolt limitation to collect (200 Bolt so far) as it was both of your money to ourchase something from robot vendor or you can use the bolt as your ammunition (shoot them like star bits from Super Mario Galaxy).
But dang.... Suddenly i felt sleepy during playing after 1 hour. So i have to quickly quit from the game during a mission as i have to stop playing once i felt sleepy. Something with my body that will made me sleepy to anything that considered as tedious or not really excited.

Edit 2:
I have never watched ROBOTS (2005) movie but after i saw from Youtube, i was thinking how the heck robots can grow up like human ?

And the parents of Rodney create him by assemble a robot baby ?? šŸ˜²
What do you think with ROBOTS (2005) movie, guys ?

@Tyranexx Well that by all accounts worked a treat. Here it felt much more ā€œyouā€™d-better-have-done-it-otherwise-weā€™d-riotā€ because of the terrible outdoor conditions naturally but it all worked out in the end. Iā€™ve only been to a fast-food once in the last seven years, and that time I had a particularly bad burger, that, true to fast-food service form, had stuff on it I didnā€™t want. Iā€™ve since spent my time making up for it by eating quality burgers.

My recs for 65dosā€™ soundtrack for No Manā€™s Sky would be Asimov, Supermoon and Heliosphere. Their style is so experimental, and I saw a video of them released by the PlayStation channel of one of their recording sessions. Taping their guitars, trying out different drumming styles, you name it, theyā€™ve done it. The gameā€™s story is classic Hollywood though. So glad I stuck with it instead of getting a refund. Speaking of, the hotfixes for Cyberpunk have still gone on this whole time. And a raft of unfulfilled promises still exist.

Well thatā€™s a relief; causing a scene would have been an unmitigated disaster. Despite my caution with safety I didnā€™t have any problems eating on the plane. Unfortunately almost every time Iā€™ve been on a plane during this pandemic Iā€™ve been at the aisle seat, meaning Iā€™d need to cramp my elbows in unless I want to hit everyone passing through. Also having to get up so strangers can get into their seatsā€¦ eugh. Though the policies have been absolutely rock solid. And ultimatelyā€¦ I prefer the late nights and early mornings. Less babies.

It has grown, exponentially. So much so I had to switch to an A4 doc size so it wouldnā€™t brick every time I loaded it to write! Eleven chapters done, and Iā€™ve managed to add Sharla into the cast. It got boring with just two characters but now the fun part begins in terms of characterisation and story. On the bright side if you wait to take time and read itā€¦ itā€™ll have grown in the meantime! My timeā€™s running short though but Iā€™ll try and update it when I can. I am nerfing the Ether Mine though, as soon as they reach the central pit Iā€™m gonna get them in an elevator that gets all the way to the bottom. Or something like that.

Final Fantasy X was the earliest-published game I played (not the first of course, I only played it last year) that had the makings of a game that could challenge and beat modern games today. The graphics are a bit on the rough side but overallā€¦ not that bad. Musicā€™s great, combatā€™s great, and the story is next level goof. Twilight Princess is another, that game has better world design than most games today. Anything before the 64-bit era (excluding some SNES games) feels clunky and limited. But then it opened up and games began to enter the realm of greatness. Open world games like the ones on PS4/5, plus the inkling choices on Xbox, have been a breath of fresh air for me lately. Iā€™ve gotten used to being able to fast travel within three seconds on PS5 that whenever I get onto Switch I start fidgeting while I wait for the game to load. Same with anything running at 30 frames per second. It now feels so choppy. Iā€™m falling into the framerate master race trap.

Thereā€™s this thing going on with celebs calledā€¦ ā€œglampingā€. Camping in really fancy tents and all. I think thatā€™s pretty silly, itā€™s no substitute for the real thing. Iā€™ve done a variety of camping types, with big tents, small tents, a cabin with absolutely zero power and even in a communal bunk room. Do try it one day. Ironically even better during this pandemic because of the sheer solitude itā€™ll provide. The Boy Scout motto isā€¦ be prepared. As a former Scout thatā€™s the one thing Iā€™ll take from it.

Iā€™m a bit irked by the lawsuit in general. On one hand itā€™s easy to point the finger at Scarlett, call her a selfish attention-seeker and move on, but at the same time Disney inked a very specific deal. Something on both their terms naturally, so Scarlett would have responsibility there, but Disney could have tried to solve it when the movie was closer to release. You could make a strong case for either side actually. But itā€™s one actress and one major company that nearly has an absolute monopoly on the film industry now.

Wait, poor internet? Did I suggest that? Actually my internetā€™s great, the best Iā€™ve ever had throughout years of cities and power cuts. Downloading a game as big asā€¦ I dunno, Ghost of Tsushima, would take three days in France, but here three hours. And as a 60GB game you canā€™t take a download like that lightly. But yeah Iā€™ve had a ton of photos and they wonā€™t do any good sat on a drive. Iā€™m no social media boffin either, but Twitterā€™s the only way to get them off the console since I donā€™t have any drives that the console supports. I committed to the decision that Iā€™d use it solely for photos at the momentā€¦ I put it in my signature again, so hopefully youā€™ll enjoy what you see. No useless commentary, just the photos! And believe me, Iā€™d only share stuff Iā€™m proud of.

@tekoii I play the Rocket League on the Switch. I'm teetering between Platinum and Diamond 1. I mostly play 3v3 Ranked/Casual, 1v1 ranked, and Dropshot. (Eastern US region). I usually play as SpaceDandy.

I hit plat 1 a year ago, in September 2020. Started hitting diamond solo queuing in May of this year.

As far as Chit Chat thread goes, I think I may the only Rocket League player. There are several other NL users that play hat I see in comments on NL's What Are You Playing This Weekend articles.

Edit: I also play with a keyboard plugged into the Switch dock for chat. I'm not sure I've encountered another Switch Player in Rocket League that has a keyboard plugged in for chat msgs.

@Snatcher There are a few others, but they don't participate on the Rocket League thread. Any time I post on the Rocket League thread, it's usually tumble weeds. I may have deleted some of my posts. The last user that participated, basically dumped on the Switch version, leaving the thread on a negative tone.

I've been doing this often lately, blocking clears. I often follow a ball right to the goal in 1v1 so I can block the clear. It's riskier, but sometimes won't hit the ball faster at the goal just for the fun of trying to block the clear.šŸ˜
