@Zuljaras You're welcome man. It's really looking great. And even though I don't share @ogo79's love for skeletons, I'll have to admit that I actually am kinda jealous...

@Tyranexx I can’t say I was any better, I’ve had much later bedtimes recently. Yesterday we went out to a Brazilian restaurant, and it’s a steakhouse type place where waiters come to each table with cuts of different types of meat. It absolutely filled me up, before we even managed to get through all the beef cuts. Thing with Brazilian meat is that they salt it massively, so it has the double edged sword of being very tasty, they do make you thirsty. They also served this… delicacy that’s so damn GOOD that I can’t help but describe it… cheesy garlic bread. The taste is borderline overpowering, to the point I felt like I had gone to heaven. Helps I’m vulnerable to garlic bread… oh man it’s way too tasty for mere mortals.

Speaking of salt, I did something I’m relatively proud of… there’s a small beach near where I live, and we saw it completely littered a few weeks ago. We went this morning and cleaned up the entire beach, it took about two hours and filled seven bin bags. It was quite hot so it made the task a bit harder but it felt good to have a positive impact on the environment. Especially considering how bad this country is with waste. We brought our small fluffy white dog and I had to stop him drinking all the seawater… it didn’t work and he got back and spent a good minute or so drinking normal water.

I’ve lived in places where locking doors is like breathing. A few countries also where houses were guarded with security at multiple points. I can kinda understand why Canada’s like that but literally a mile away is a culture of fear. (Another reminder that tore me through a rabbit hole I welcome deeply; Thievery Corporation)

I’m too engrossed in videogame music, my own tastes of which encompass almost every genre, so much so that at times I almost completely ignore mainstream music. I’d say that one of the game soundtracks that represents my music taste is… FFXV, all Xenoblade games, and DQXI. Classical instruments here, maybe some epic percussion, some electronic sound effects, choirs and a little metal here and there and bam. I do, however, have a fondness for eighties music, one of the songs that almost never fails to make me smile, is Van Halen’s “Jump”. I first heard it in the opening of “Ready Player One”, the film adaptation of one of my favourite novels.

I unironically like Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up”, so when the initial irritation of getting rickrolled subsides I begin to enjoy the music. For modern stuff, have you heard of Daft Punk? As for classical… it’s so broad. Anything by Mozart or Beethoven is an instant like. Classical music doesn’t use any modern instruments, which when transported to the present and played, evokes a strong sense of timelessness. And of course you can’t go wrong with Disney soundtracks.

Hopefully the authors can phrase titles better, I think it’s gotten noticeably better in the last three days or so. One of the most irritating things about the comments is that if I make a one-line remark some smart aleck’ll find the time to point out why I’m wrong or whatever. Unless it’s with a user I “know”, or if it’s a very good reply, I don’t tend to reply to comments I’m tagged in. Besides, there’s unlimited text on forum posts. As we get used to it we’ll learn more and have a finer approach.

I’ll confess that I’ve been watching a bit of gameplay over the past few weeks, but it won’t ruin the experience at all, because the game in question is F1 2021, a racing game. I always take a look at gameplay, for graphics, HUD, handling and more. This one looks noticeably better than 2020, which I skipped, so I’m definitely getting it soon. Catherine’s a game I’ve looked at for a fair bit too, especially because of Atlus’ pedigree. They bossed it with Persona and this is reportedly quite good as well.

I wasn’t invested much into rumours, I already made that mistake last year with the infamous Direct drought. This year there’ve been Directs so there’s less need for hopelessness or expectation. And I didn’t care about a Switch Pro, or whatever, for multiple reasons. First, I don’t have a 4K television. Second, I don’t need extra processing power for more third party games, because I have a PlayStation. If it can’t run on Switch I’ll buy it on there instead. Third, I already replaced my Switch, so getting another one’s overkill. I will say though that getting the dock isn’t out of the question, it’s so sleek and could go nicely with the elegant PS5. Plus an ethernet port built in. Hopefully you enjoy Ys VIII, do tell me how it goes!

The Master Cycle Zero is slower than a horse, yes! But not by much, and there’s some positives. It won’t slow down and stop at an obstacle, plus it can jump. I’ve had many a fun time when I ride the bike down massive slopes, do massive jumps, and so on. You’ll be in for a very good time.

I’m sure you’ll find time to watch the Sonic film, while it is a shame you didn’t see it during its admittedly long theatrical run. Another film where he excels is Horton Hears a Who; a film which I initially billed as being the best Illumination movie, and then I realised it’s not even an Illumination film. Goes to show just how bad I see them! Dumb and Dumber will be a fantastic watch; hopefully you find time for that too.

Probably the only time I clothes shop for enjoyment is when there’s good designs on offer. I remember visiting a Uni-Qlo in Manchester (UK) and saw a collection of Super Mario shirts. Legitimately cool ones, like a red shirt with various Mario sprites on, or a green shirt with a big pixel art print of Bowser. So good, and I wear them with respect even now. Air-con is necessary to survive here, so while this country kills the environment there’d be even more damage if we were dead.

I can’t say you’ve mentioned your love for accents before but I’m not unsurprised… interesting like, something I share. I likewise cannot believe you studied German, that is amazing. In public it’s important to be careful which accents one imitates, unless one’s intentions are misconstrued. I only try out accents in private, with people who no doubt appreciate the effort! I was in Wales for a few weeks last year and the North Welsh accent is so light, almost like a fine dance. One of my least favourite accents in the UK is a flip between Cockney and London. It sounds needlessly edgy. I find the accent from my region (west) very strange, how they bend the i’s and e’s. “I am happy” becomes “Oi ‘am happæ” or something.

Unfortunately we ran out of peanut butter the other day. That had massive implications because I tried my hand at American pancakes. The ones that are quite thick. I really enjoyed flipping them in the pan, and then squashing the uncooked dough so that it spreads evenly and has a “cake effect”. I think they’re the best pancakes I’ve made, so I ate a few of them to celebrate this monumental achievement. That’s now a weekend breakfast choice! Peanut butter is such a versatile ingredient, funnily peanut sauce is used in various Southeast Asian dishes, which I eat at times because I’m half from that region too.

Ice cream’s a beautiful thing. I went to a “juice shop” and ordered a cold chocolate shake, and it was just what I needed today. Don’t feel ashamed of having more, it’s gonna be a long summer.

@Zuljaras I'm not the guy you asked but I like that question... My favourite Greek god has gotta be Hephaestus. He was rejected by Hera (what a jerk), thrown off the side of Mount Olympus, yet literally invented the forge (I think). My favourite hero is Heracles, because of his labours. All the stuff he did, and his rage when not getting paid.

Have you read "Mythos" and "Heroes" by Stephen Fry? Tagging @ThanosReXXX too.

@TheJGG Nice! Hephaestus is the smith of the Gods he is making all of their weapons even Zeus's iconic thunderbolts. His "consort" is Aphrodite but she is kind of a tramp and sleeps around with others

Actually, come to think of it, many of the Greek gods are really horny and unfaithful Very rarely there was a strong relationship on Olympus.

The Titans were primal elemental brutes but at least they were not sluts

Edit: I have not read "Mythos" and "Heroes" by Stephen Fry, sorry. I have not read many books in my life and it is little embarrassing

@BloodNinja Yeah, sometimes. Mainly emulators and games from the Xbox 360 era that I still play from time to time, such as Pro Evo Soccer 2012, still the best and most configurable version there is...

But all that aside, I really don't see my PC as a gaming platform. I don't like sitting behind a PC monitor for that, and for my work I'm also sitting on a computer desk all day already, so enough is enough, I'd say. So, I mainly use it for a bit of after work stuff, internet banking, browsing, chatting with you guys and girls, and other more multi-purpose things. As any average PC user would do.

And as mentioned, the hardware is old, and Win7 is already pushing it, and seeing as I'm not about to invest in new PC hardware any time soon, because I really don't need it, it's going to remain as it is for quite a while yet. Fun fact: up til 2019, I was still using a hybrid version of Windows, called Black XP, which basically merged Windows XP with some bells and whistles and features of Windows Vista.

And let me tell you, that actually ran about three times faster on this PC than my current OS, so in some ways, I sorely regret ever making the decision to upgrade to Win7, but in some ways, I simply had no choice, because more and more, I ran into issues of versions of programs not being supported anymore, or even entire programs not being supported, so I ultimately made the step.

But even if I had better hardware, I probably still wouldn't move to a newer OS, or I would make a hybrid system, or something with virtual machines, because I'm still pissed that there's plenty of old games that I can't play anymore, and the so-called compatibility solutions simply don't work at all, so that's a bit of an empty bag, to be honest.

@Zuljaras That would probably be Zeus, if I name the first one that comes to mind, but honestly, I'm such an ENORMOUS fan of Greek mythology that I could easily name another 10, or 20, or 30...
But yeah, the supreme God of them all definitely stands out.

As for my favorite mythical creature in that regard, that would probably be the Minotaur, and that also ties into my massive interest in the palace at Knossos and the Minoan civilization, which is tentatively tied to the myth of Atlantis as well. (edit: and on a side note, I'm a Taurus myself, so obviously that also helps in having some kind of connection with that particular character)

@TheJGG Haven't read the books yet, but heard only good things about them, and I know that Stephen Fry's knowledge on the subject is second to none, so I'm definitely interested in reading them at some point.

On an unrelated side note: I was saddened to hear of the fine that the British Football association needs to pay because of the anti-social behavior of their supporters in the match against Denmark. Football hooligans at their finest... They should definitely pick the a-holes out of the bunch and let them pay the 30.000 instead of just doing it themselves...

@ThanosReXXX Good to know! I’ve been experimenting with Linux builds and while they seem to work well enough, I do run into compatibility issues with hardware that I lack the technical knowledge to fix. But for the games I do run, it’s actually flawless if I use Wine and Lutris to run the game. Even got Dark Souls 3 to run on Linux Mint, blew my mind.

Only reason I asked is because I was considering experimenting with Windows 7 on a modern machine to see what would happen! Might try it with a dual boot. I’m avoiding Windows 11 like the plague, as it requires online, now. I have Windows 10 on lockdown with a de-bloater software and a batch file I made that disables unwanted services at startup. It’s a great set up, but it would be nice to be on something more fool-proof!

So, might come across as blasphemous on this thread, but I’ve never actually played BOTW. I was turned off by Nintendo’s pre-release footage so I never tried it. What do you guys enjoy about it, as I am considering giving it a go and your conversation sounded interesting about it.

@Zuljaras Greek Gods and Goddesses were horrifyingly incestuous. It was nigh-on heartbreaking finding out Aphrodite was cheating on Hephaestus. Can't disagree about the Titans, though didn't one of them bear Zeus' child at one point? And remember the time when a woman bore the child of a bull (I think that became the Minotaur)? It gets much weirder.

@ThanosReXXX Do get them at some point, they're very good books that deserve a read. Stephen Fry is a deeply intriguing man, and one I'd gladly have read over three thousand pages of Harry Potter, which I have. The way he wrote it is really good, his writing is quite funny and made us feel transported to the time of the gods.

I'm happy for the fine but they should punish fans for it. They have CCTV footage so it’s not like they can’t identify the fans and give them a suspension or ban or something. Sucks though, that other respectful English football fans have to be associated with these idiots.

@WoomyNNYes I’ve never tried farming Guardians off my horse, usually I just charge in, arrow in the eye and more parts… the irritating thing about the Ancient Saddle is that the horse always ends up facing completely the opposite direction from where I need to go. Complete and utter rubbish, makes the game unplayable, 7.8/10.

@BloodNinja I think regardless of if you’ve played a Zelda game before, you should play Breath of the Wild. It’s a game that promotes exploration and freedom above story and linearity. The story is quite barebones, and that’s the consequence of having a massive open world that can be explored in entirety from the very start. But there’s so much to do, so much to see, and half the time when you’re not doing the main quest you’ll be exploring. Finding towers, defeating minibosses and hunting for shrines. You can play it however you want.

The dungeons are fun, but a bit on the easy side for me. And there’s some things here and there that didn’t need to be changed from past Zelda games. That’s why I plan to get Skyward Sword. But it’s almost impossible to get bored.

My dad got a weird little cactus, and today it finally opened its flowerº. The flower looks like a mutant starfish, with a flesh like texture, little fuzzy hairs around the petals that move in the wind, and it smells like wet dog.

It’s a cute little type of corpse flower. A verity of Stapelia.

ºcorrection it opened the flower about two days ago.

@TheJGG Well for example the origins of Aphrodite are 2. One is simple, she is daughter of Zeus which is very incestuous as she cheats on Hephaestus with Ares, another child of Zeus

The other origin is that Aphrodite was born from the white foam produced by the severed genitals of Uranus after his son Cronus threw them into the sea. Just lovely! Born out of castration

The one I remember the most is Echo.

She was a nymph, cursed by Hera for covering for Zeus. Hera made it so Echo could only repeat the last few words she heard.

Eventually she met Narcissus and fell madly in love with him, but he was disgusted and annoyed by her condition. But she still stayed around, long enough to see him fall in love with himself and die because of it.

She eventually died of sadness herself and the only thing that remained of her was her voice, which still lingers to this day, still cursed. 👻

It's funny because apparently she would just go on and on and on babbling to distract Hera. All to protect Zeus.

The fact that that was a plan they, the deities, came up with (and that it apparently worked) seems just hilarious to me.

@TheJGG I see! So of course I’ve played Zelda games, I really enjoy Zelda 2 & 3, and I put about 10 years into Skyrim. How does it compare to an open world like Skyrim (if you have played it) and is there anything constantly interrupting gameplay, like help menus popping up? If so, can those be disabled? Assuming you “beat” the game, what happens post end-game? Don’t worry about spoilers, I already watched a video of the final boss fight and the ending ages ago.
