@Zuljaras @Eel @Snatcher It always bugs me how Hera's jealousy results in the deaths of people that've done absolutely nothing wrong. I'm pretty sure she was involved in several trysts herself so if it's to stop Zeus sleeping with others her argument is super weak.

@BloodNinja I can't answer about Skyrim specifically because I haven't played it, but I've played a lot more open-world games after Breath of the Wild that warrant comparison. Horizon: Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, plus the hour of Genshin Impact I've played so far. Horizon has similar structure in that you can tackle some of the quests in differing orders, but it's more like having secondary main quests that you can do before or after the main main quest. GoT is a bit more linear but you can do a lot of stuff in between each story quest.

Breath of the Wild doesn't have post-game quests but the game assumes that you beat Ganon before doing all the shrines and such. After you beat Ganon, and reload your save it puts you back in the game just before you walk in to start the final boss fight. Just like Xenoblade 1, Xenoblade 2, and Horizon Zero Dawn. But in your map you'll see a percentage of how much of the shrines, quests, locations, Hyrule Compendium, and Korok Seeds you've gotten, to two decimal places.

I like what games like Xenoblade X, Death Stranding (kind of) and Ghost of Tsushima do though, namely having post-game quests, and an environment set after you beat the final boss, or finish the main story. You can now go around, do whatever you want, take on quests, and nothing can stop you. With BotW though, that was always the plan from the start (exploring and doing whatever you want) so it's not a bad thing.

And there are two HUD options in the game: Normal and Pro. Normal has your heart gauge, mini-map, sound meter (for stealth) time, small icons to tell you what to press to select what weapon, and more. Pro has the Heart meter and absolutely nothing else. For me, I started out with the normal one and quickly got used to the controls and swapped to Pro.

Hope all this helps you make an informed choice!

@WoomyNNYes I've done that a lot actually, swinging the Master Sword wildly circling a Guardian. It's quite fun, so is weaving to and fro so that it misses its shot.

As for horses... I've had one die on me just once. It was very saddening... But one thing you can also try is jumping or swinging a weapon. Or shooting the Guardian with an arrow.

@Sunsy Finally! My two favourites are Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. Hopefully you'll find time to see those two at some point!

It's strange, yet beautiful in it's unique and quirky look.

Hope you're having a good day.

lol, he say an out of place starfish hahaha.
its a terrifying fact that you can mask food with mayo and the problem disappears, at least for some.
but weve got weirdoes here that eat pineapple on pizza and those that want to experiment with strawberries on burgers.
why am i still here?

@Blooper987 Never gotten a nendroid, but I've seen quite a few of them while browsing online, mostly from anime. Didn't know they were doing VTubers too, I'm still tuning into some of the Hololive streams, with Kiara Takanashi's 12 hour stream standing out the most. Had it on awhile back in my room and while doing some chores.

@TheJGG Making note of those two, friend invited me over wanting to show me Ponyo. I mentioned one that's always been on my mind was Kiki's Delivery Service, he told me I would love it. I think another friend mentioned seeing Spirited Away.

@BloodNinja By "easing in", I meant getting used to it. It takes me a bit to fully work something into my routine lol. It's possible I'll forget on occasion.

@bimmy-lee Caught the edit. Yeah, it usually peaks here in August, though some years July or early September are arguably worse. I've never been to the northwestern part of the country - would like to get there at some point - but I was under the impression the climate is usually mild for most of the year, depending on elevation. Still boggles my mind that AC isn't as much of a necessity there. I'm definitely not one for a ton of humidity either. If I'm ever one of those people who moves somewhere south in retirement, it'll be somewhere with low humidity, a good breeze, and heat that isn't usually scorching.

@Heavyarms55 Oof. I would definitely have to adjust my sleep cycle to get up at 3 in the morning! I hope your shifts are the usual eight hours or so. Completely understand needing caffeine; I don't need a ton of it to function and don't even drink it on the weekends, but I won't deny it gives me a needed kick in the rear first thing.

@ThanosReXXX Not sure if you've dug through that text wall yet, but that map was a rough sketch of English dialects in the US. I can't fully vouch for its authenticity, but the labels for the US interior are fairly accurate.

As for the German: I went to a small high school, so it was pretty much the only foreign language option offered at the time. When my mother attended there, they offered French. My guess is German was chosen as many students from the area could claim German ancestry. In fact, it was a spoken language in the area until the anti-German sentiment during World War 1 socially forced total assimilation. Many settlers hailed from Germany and founded a lot of Protestant communities. From a family perspective, as well as sheer curiosity, I was very interested in the language. Though I would've enjoyed having more options.

Since then, they've switched to Spanish. The latter does, in this day and age, have more of a practical use in the area I grew up in since there's now a Spanish-speaking minority.

@BloodNinja I could write an entire omnibus on why you really should try Breath of the Wild, but I'll keep it short: no amount of videos watched, whether it's presentations, Let's Plays or reviews will ever convey the "feel" of the game. Once you start out, it immediately sucks you in, grabs you and doesn't let go. In my first play session, all I did for the first couple of hours was explore the world, hunt, collect food and make recipes. THAT's how enjoyable even those menial things already are, and once you really get started with the story, sneaking up on and picking off enemies with ever smarter schemes, such as shooting arrows into a cave with exploding barrels, it really clicks and then you'll understand.

Oh, and before I forget: you'll never forget the thrill of catching and taming your first wild horse. It's another really well done part of the game. Just play it, and all will be made clear within the first few hours...

@TheJGG That was exactly my point: clubs shouldn't be punished for the behavior of their fans.
And no worries, I'll get to reading Stephen Fry's books at some point, just not any time soon, because I have a lot on my plate right now, both in my work and in my private life, so I can hardly get in any extracurricular activities as it is.

@Eel So much happy stories in Greek mythology!

The term "Greek tragedy" definitely exists for a reason...

As for Aphrodite being "born out of castration", that would actually tie in nicely with the fact that she's sometimes also seen as one of the first feminist examples, due to her being a woman in power, because of her sway over any and all men, so in that sense, she really got them by the balls..

@ogo79 I'll be looking forward to the pictures of that shelf...

@Tyranexx Ah, okay. That explains it. I just found it odd that German was taught in a US school at all, but if you put it like that, it actually makes sense.

You're not wrong about this... the memory of my horse kicking me a mile away still stands out as part of my BotW experience, lol.

@Eel That flower looks like something straight out of Resident Evil. I'm expecting a poisonous and/or fanged tentacle to shoot out of the middle any moment...

@Sunsy Haha, my own experience wasn't THAT extreme, but I definitely got kicked a few times...

Ah... what a WONDERFUL end to the weekend, and to an otherwise rather lackluster and hit and miss Euro 2020. I'm very glad and relieved that the Italians won, because once again, it was an absolutely HORRIBLE match from the English, they played something more akin to anti-football instead of the football that I know they can play and which I regularly enjoy in the English competition, but in this instance, they had no rights whatsoever to the title, so the right team won tonight. Viva Italia!

@BloodNinja I'm almost sure you won't regret it. Of course, there's always people that won't like a certain type of game, but in this case, I have no problem whatsoever selling people on the game, because far as I'm concerned, it's a VERY easy recommendation. (edit: just ask @Tyranexx)

Come to think of it, I actually also forgot to mention other stuff, besides the horse catching: you'll probably appreciate all the ninja-esque stuff in the game as well: sneaking around, stealth kills, laying traps, and there's even this wonderfully ninja-themed weapon called a shuriken boomerang. In the right hands, a couple of them can actually be used to create a so-called shuriken tornado, to defeat bigger enemies...

An England fan here, but you're right, Italy deserved to win throughout the entire tournament, and call me biased if I say otherwise.

Hope you're having a good day.
