@Zuljaras Greek Gods and Goddesses were horrifyingly incestuous. It was nigh-on heartbreaking finding out Aphrodite was cheating on Hephaestus. Can't disagree about the Titans, though didn't one of them bear Zeus' child at one point? And remember the time when a woman bore the child of a bull (I think that became the Minotaur)? It gets much weirder.

@ThanosReXXX Do get them at some point, they're very good books that deserve a read. Stephen Fry is a deeply intriguing man, and one I'd gladly have read over three thousand pages of Harry Potter, which I have. The way he wrote it is really good, his writing is quite funny and made us feel transported to the time of the gods.

I'm happy for the fine but they should punish fans for it. They have CCTV footage so it’s not like they can’t identify the fans and give them a suspension or ban or something. Sucks though, that other respectful English football fans have to be associated with these idiots.

@WoomyNNYes I’ve never tried farming Guardians off my horse, usually I just charge in, arrow in the eye and more parts… the irritating thing about the Ancient Saddle is that the horse always ends up facing completely the opposite direction from where I need to go. Complete and utter rubbish, makes the game unplayable, 7.8/10.

@BloodNinja I think regardless of if you’ve played a Zelda game before, you should play Breath of the Wild. It’s a game that promotes exploration and freedom above story and linearity. The story is quite barebones, and that’s the consequence of having a massive open world that can be explored in entirety from the very start. But there’s so much to do, so much to see, and half the time when you’re not doing the main quest you’ll be exploring. Finding towers, defeating minibosses and hunting for shrines. You can play it however you want.

The dungeons are fun, but a bit on the easy side for me. And there’s some things here and there that didn’t need to be changed from past Zelda games. That’s why I plan to get Skyward Sword. But it’s almost impossible to get bored.

My dad got a weird little cactus, and today it finally opened its flowerº. The flower looks like a mutant starfish, with a flesh like texture, little fuzzy hairs around the petals that move in the wind, and it smells like wet dog.

It’s a cute little type of corpse flower. A verity of Stapelia.

ºcorrection it opened the flower about two days ago.

@TheJGG Well for example the origins of Aphrodite are 2. One is simple, she is daughter of Zeus which is very incestuous as she cheats on Hephaestus with Ares, another child of Zeus

The other origin is that Aphrodite was born from the white foam produced by the severed genitals of Uranus after his son Cronus threw them into the sea. Just lovely! Born out of castration

The one I remember the most is Echo.

She was a nymph, cursed by Hera for covering for Zeus. Hera made it so Echo could only repeat the last few words she heard.

Eventually she met Narcissus and fell madly in love with him, but he was disgusted and annoyed by her condition. But she still stayed around, long enough to see him fall in love with himself and die because of it.

She eventually died of sadness herself and the only thing that remained of her was her voice, which still lingers to this day, still cursed. 👻

It's funny because apparently she would just go on and on and on babbling to distract Hera. All to protect Zeus.

The fact that that was a plan they, the deities, came up with (and that it apparently worked) seems just hilarious to me.

@TheJGG I see! So of course I’ve played Zelda games, I really enjoy Zelda 2 & 3, and I put about 10 years into Skyrim. How does it compare to an open world like Skyrim (if you have played it) and is there anything constantly interrupting gameplay, like help menus popping up? If so, can those be disabled? Assuming you “beat” the game, what happens post end-game? Don’t worry about spoilers, I already watched a video of the final boss fight and the ending ages ago.

@TheJGG I'm often on foot when I go after a guardian (no horse) because I want to shield parry the guardian. And I like whistling to get the guardian's attention. But that brings the stupid horse into the battle. (stupid = horse usually gets in the way, and can get itself killed by the guardian, or by my swinging sword.)

Although, I have seen footage, you can gallop circles around a guardian and fight it with your master sword from horseback. It's actually fairly functional, not as dicey as you'd think.

@BloodNinja There are people on NL that don't like botw. You're going to like what you like. I think botw is revolutionary. The fact that it's highly acclaimed, though, means it's highly likely you'll like it.

Side bonus: one of the biggest problems with zelda games of the past is, if you take a long break from a zelda game, you can forget what you're supposed to be doing in the game, which is why I never completed Twilight Princess. Botw has a great quest log. You can open it up, see completed quests, see open quests, see who you talked to, what they said, and the game will put a thumbtack on the map so you know exactly where it was, or where you are going.

@Eel
You got a picture of it?

Hope you're having a good day.

Since it was brought up awhile back when animated movies were being talked about, I finally saw a Studio Ghibli movie. It was Ponyo, and ended up really liking it.

Feels good to finally see one of these movies.

The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!

BloodNinja

@Eel That's beautiful, what is it? Looks other-worldly!

@BloodNinja it’s a flower of the Stapelia genus! I’m not sure what’s the exact species though.

Basically, it’s a flower that tries to look and smell disgusting, to attract flies to pollinate it. I mean, it tries to look disgusting, but it’s pretty cool isn’t it!

The way the little hairs move in the wind, it’s almost like it’s moving them on its own. It looks like something you’d see in a sci-fi movie.

I lost 7 pounds riding my bike for 2 hours this evening. I'm sure it's water weight, but it's still amusing to see.

It's also funny, when I ride in the heat for 2+ hours, drink tons of water over that period, yet never have to pee, I think because, I sweat so much, that doesn't make it to the bladder. ?

Cool flower, @Eel.

@ogo79 I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, but if @Zuljaras uses plenty of bubble wrap, I think it'll be alright. He's certainly made you a fine collector's piece. And what's more: it'll be a completely unique, one of a kind collectable...

i believe it will ship just fine myself.
and yup, completely unique piece it is, as @Zuljaras kept me in mind all the way, thats sentimental value to the fullest. i have some one of a kind figures and prototypes but they werent crafted with me in mind, i take this like the knives my dad crafted for me.

@Zuljaras You're welcome man. It's really looking great. And even though I don't share @ogo79's love for skeletons, I'll have to admit that I actually am kinda jealous...

once im content ill post my little shelf one day, im always in the middle of doing business with collectors that seem to have hard to find or figures and i need that master pic to show lol

Memes aside I've been given massive summer coursework, including a three hundred page textbook on Communism. The time has come, comrades.

I find I'm quite liking it honestly. Russia's history for the longest time was one of backstabbing, treachery and deception.
