@bimmy-lee Ok I will thanks, and please keep it up with the projects.

So I think i'm finally 100% 3d all stars and mario Od, I'm doing Mario OD bc 100% that game is long overdue, and 3d all stars I'm probably going to do whenever, The only reason I haven't did Mario OD yet is bc I didn't want to sit down and take time to look up/ find the power moons, but I'm just going to do it.

And I might 100% crash 4 whenever as well, and 3D land whenever I beat it with my friends.

Ya I have been slower on what I 100% mainly bc its not an easy thing to do with some of these games Crash 4 cough.

@NEStalgia Well, slightly insulting if you still don't know Nintendo by now. And if you're primarily a person who uses the Switch docked, in which case the OLED screen offers no added value whatsoever...

@bimmy-lee Expecting a tree limb to fall on it? Are the trees that weak, or do you plan to place it in a precarious spot, basically tempting the fates?

On a side note: I'd like to second, third and fourth the votes for putting stuff like that in the Nintendo Life Artists thread. It's a pretty darn good paint job, and you have the right to both be satisfied an proud of it. And now that we're talking about paint jobs, didn't you also once post pictures of the kids' bedrooms? Something with cartoon characters on the walls, or am I mixing things up in my head?

And yes, still enjoying the heck out of my TV, but sadly not because of the current football/soccer matches. Almost every match since the quarter finals sucked major balls, and all the wrong teams won, so currently we've got the Brits vs the Italians in the finals come Sunday. Now, I don't particularly like the Italian way of playing football, what with all the drama queen stuff going on and theatrical tumbles and so on, but the English have basically gotten their ticket for the finals handed to them on a silver platter, so I like that even less than the over-exaggerators from the land of pizza, pasta and bologna...

Besides one single good match, nothing they did themselves warranted them actually deserving it. But eh, sports... Unfortunately, fairy tales do not exist and sometimes even the team that plays the worst still wins the match, so yeah, it is what it is. Hopefully, the Italians will completely crush the English, and then I can at least laugh at the British fans and their delusional silliness about "football coming home"...

As for the TV itself: at some point, I'll post a mini review, don't know if I'll do that here or in a separate thread, once I've taken the time to take some good pictures, especially of how good it looks in game mode, even with retro console games. Wii games look simply amazing, and I was definitely NOT expecting that. I half expected it to be a big let down, and was already preparing to accept that as coming with the territory of going from full HD plasma to 4K OLED, but LG definitely proved me wrong, luckily. So, all consoles that previously were plugged into the old screen are now all connected to the new one, and games have never looked better...

@ogo79 Texas, huh? Must be hot over there right now, I suppose? I originally come from a pretty hot locale myself, namely this little place in California. As you may possibly know, I live in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, nowadays. Currently, it's also pretty hot over here, but nowhere near any of those US locations, luckily...

I don't think I had mentioned it here, but since I unloaded on you guys about how many struggles I had moving back to the US, I feel it is worth mentioning that some things have gotten better. I managed to get over my reluctance and selfish dislike of driving enough to get my US driver's license back. And although I know in some parts of the world driving is looked at as a privilege and a luxury, it simple is not here. It's a burden and a necessity. Expensive and dangerous, but absolutely necessary to function in this society. So I did that. And I only want to murder about 3 other drivers on an average commute, so it could be worse.

I've also managed to get started at my new job, working patient admitting and customer service at a local hospital. It's a wild departure from both my previous job and my original career path when in college, but it pays well, has good benefits and my coworkers all seem rather decent. I never imagined I'd end up working in a hospital. So add that to the list of things I never imagined happening. It's a lot to learn, having never really done this sort of thing before. And there's a guillotine over my head forever because of the information I have access to, (Rightfully so, considering the potential damage people in my position could do if we were malicious! But it still is a different kind of stress.). Once I finish training though, and get more used to it, I think it's gonna be a pretty great job and one I do see myself staying at for at least the mid-term, if not longer, assuming the Arizona heat doesn't kill me first.

But anyway, I just wanted to share this here, because after I moved back, I was in a bad place for many months and a lot of you folks in the Chit-chat section helped me with your kind words. I'd @ people, but my brain is fried from all the new stuff I'm learning and I can't remember how everyone spells their various usernames. XD

(Oh, and I suppose I should keep a little quieter about my opinions on the US health insurance and healthcare systems from now on... Wouldn't change the way I would vote though, if it ever actually goes up as a legitimate issue in the future.)

@Heavyarms55 Hey, thanks for the elaborate update, and most definitely good to hear that you've finally found a way to settle in and feel good about it. I could imagine quite well your sentiments when you first had to move back home, but ultimately, regardless of whatever setbacks, we should not dwell, at least not too long, and move on and, as the old saying goes, make the best of it, so I'm glad to see that this is exactly what is happening. Good luck with your new job, and congrats on regaining your US driver's license.

@ThanosReXXX - I just sort of expect something to happen after all the work I’ve put into it, and it will inevitably end up under a tree. Ah well, I scratched the paint twice with the rattle can while applying the clear coat, so it’s not perfect. I do really appreciate you saying it deserves to be in the artist thread as well as the other compliments. Makes me feel good. I just like working on stuff like that because it’s a relaxing, zen like experience.

Both the kids have pretty whacky accent walls, but yes, I put a small Ms Pac Man mural in my daughter’s room because she has the iconic pink/blue/yellow color scheme in her room with a splash of orange and lavender. That cabinet is it’s own work of art. I have a dream project of buying a gutted cabinet and making a sort of exploded Ms Pac Man cabinet wall art with it, if you’re familiar with that type of thing.

Well, I’m glad you’re still pleased with the TV, even if you don’t agree with the results of the tournament. I look forward to your review. Without knowing the ins and outs of how it went down, I’ll say that I’m happy for England to be in this position. Roger Bennett is an occasional guest on a podcast I listen to, and I think I have a small glimpse into the perspective of an English football fan and what this means to them.

@Heavyarms55 - Really glad to hear things are turning around a bit for you. No doubt you were in for a huge adjustment moving back, especially at the time you moved. I hope more things fall into place that let you know you’re where you’re supposed to be.

@BloodNinja I like the boiling pot analogy; one I use is a soda bottle or can that's shaken to the point where, if the pressure is released in some way, it fizzes over and gets everywhere. "Mara", huh? I'll have to look into that. It's interesting what one can discover from the teachings of other religions.

@bimmy-lee A delicious idea, I'd say. I love watermelon! I think it's really cool that everyone pitched in to help with the paint job! A nice family project that everyone can claim at least some credit to. There's something special about improving the look of something with your own hands. Even if some of that is an innocent bit of vandalism from Bim Jr.

I've been well, dealing with the classic heat + humidity for this time of year - just died mowed my lawn yesterday evening - but it still beats the heat wave in the western parts of the US and CA. Vines of any sort aren't fun, doubly so in my case since I'm allergic to some of the itchier varieties. I hope you aren't, and I wish you luck on your vine purge!

@ThanosReXXX Heh, IMAX theaters are cool for the occasional short viewing, but I can't imagine watching a full-on movie in one; in my experience, typically some sort of documentary or short film is aired. I'd probably get eyestrain after half an hour....

Oh boy; I was a complete zombie after the "I'm on a trip!" high wore off. A school-sponsored trip to Washington, D.C., actually. Part of the problem was because the bus left the school at around midnight so that we would be on time for an early morning flight from an airport two hours away. I tried sleeping before going and on the bus but couldn't. What made it worse was the chaperones had to change plans on the fly. originally our group was to be split in two; one of our flights was direct, while the other group had a brief layover elsewhere before joining us. The second flight for group 2 was canceled, but they managed to move most of the students to the direct flight. A couple of students and the rest of the chaperones ended up in Chicago's O'Hare airport for several hours while they waited on another flight. Most of the students who went were well-behaved, otherwise I'm not sure how they would've managed it. XD

So after an uncomfortable bus ride, hectic airport shenanigans, a flight, and a ton of public transportation and group activities for that day, and I was beyond dead. The weird thing is I caught a "third wind" right before bedtime and STILL had issues sleeping. /shrug

@TheJGG I'm afraid I'll have to postpone the long post for a little longer; my day turned upside-down! Thank you for your patience.

People like looking for a scapegoat, something to blame an issue on. 99 times out of 100 however, the situation isn't nearly that simple. Something may very well contribute to a problem, be it violence in media, ease of access to dangerous materials, or even an unfortunate coincidence or bad day. But I believe these things are only symptoms and very rarely a cause. There's certainly one or multiple triggers somewhere, be it in an instant or over time.

I don't listen to modern pop or Top 40s music or anything like that, but I really enjoy many sub-genres across the rock and metal spectrums; I do usually avoid some sub-genres though, such as shock rock and death metal. I sometimes get into a bit of electronic music and am occasionally bitten by the EDM listening bug (Darn it Haddaway!). I'll listen to about anything in the right mood, though I avoid modern country music like the plague and can't stand opera. Weirdly enough, I don't mind some classical music. I still jokingly blame my mother for picking up Disney's Fantasia (the original; I've never seen the 2000 variant) as I'm sure that's where that stems from. Of course, we both know I enjoy a lot of video game music!

@Heavyarms55 The update is appreciated! I knew about the new position via Discord, but none of the details. I'm glad you found what seems to be a decent job, even if your hands are now tied by HIPAA (or the medical equivalent if there is one).

Been thinking of you and yours and hope you're surviving all that heat! It's been blah here, but not nearly to that level.

Heavyarms55 wrote:

This is precisely one of the reasons why I play video games. They help ward off the misanthropy. Pretty sure we've discussed the topic before, but I mostly agree with you on driving in general and the burden privileges of owning a license.

@Tyranexx Yeah, I do believe it's a certain sect of Hinduism that believes that Mara (anger) is an "old friend." It might have something to do with finding ways to detach from it, instead of taking ownership of the anger, perhaps as a form of distancing oneself from it? I could be getting that wrong, I'm not Hindu, it's just something I read in a religion book ages ago!

@MarioLover92 Thanks! It would be nice though, if I could see some proof that I'm not the only person who actually had to pass a test for his license... That's the main part of the danger I was referring to.

@bimmy-lee Thanks! You're absolutely one of the people I was talking about, always with the kind words!

@Tyranexx Oh I'm sorry. I thought I had mentioned the details while we were chatting. But yeah. Oh and games have always been a form of escape for me and a way to vent too. But I'm already leaving for work at 4:15 in the morning. I'm not waking up even early so I have time to take a break and play some before going into the building. XD

Oh and did you reply to me twice? Or is NL just being weird?

@bimmy-lee I feel you. There's so much I wish I could do on my free time but alas. It's a shame but I guess we can do nothing but do the best we can balancing both sides of our lives. I'm hoping to start reading the book again this winter since I started it in spring but didn't get too far.

When I started really looking at comments, regulars like you and Thanos and others started standing out. I probably chuckled at dozens of your comments before I ever thought to make an account.

@Vortexeo Don't forget "Weaker Melia", "Highlyirritating Napon" and "Stoic Dunbon". I swear this, I'll find a way to put those stupid names in my story. I read a massive BotW novel once, and I remember the author wrote a line of dialogue that said "Link was the chosen hero but for some reason some people mistook him for Zelda,". Classic.

@ThanosReXXX I forgot to mention, you must have been absolutely livid that the Netherlands got knocked out at the Last 16! Me on the other hand... I'm extremely happy that England's made it to the final despite everything thrown their way. I wouldn't say I'm a football megafan but I'll certainly tune in during major tournaments like the World Cup and the Euros. And I'm capable of getting in the mood as well, before long I was shouting and cursing like anyone else!

@Tyranexx No problem, sorry to hear about your day! Hopefully you managed to find some quality downtime in the end.

I actually managed to finish the documentary and I was just sat there with complete and utter shock written onto my face. It felt like such an eye opening experience, even though some of these things I claimed to know before I saw it. But it's almost like a Vsauce video in that it's not about a topic, but rather a string of multiple weaved into an engrossing narrative.

To think that the difference between having three locks on your door in the US, and leaving your home unlocked in Canada, is a single river, is shocking. The final part of the docu was when Michael Moore interviewed Charlton Heston, actor and president of the NRA at the time. He was so dismissive of questions and eventually walked out of the room. He was asked to look at the picture of a six year old girl, who's death prompted the NRA to hold a pro-arm rally, and refused. That's just poor...

But there's never one "trigger" ironically, there's always many.

Rock's a decent genre, or rather, the presence of an electric guitar. I'd rather take rock over pop or... hip-hop or any of those mindless trap-beat one hit wonders, because with rock you can feel the soul in the music, in everything. With the ones I listed, only the vocals tend to have any semblance of emotion and even then it sounds quite boring... I don't like country like you, and I absolutely love classical! One of my favourites is the entire Nutcracker suite, it just carries such a depth of emotion that putting into words needs serious thought. It's so beautiful.

@Heavyarms55 All of that's great to hear, I hope you manage to find some quality stability now you've managed to complete the move. Best wishes!
