@WoomyNNYes I saw it, and I have email notifications on. Managed to read the whole post and respond before you deleted it! You have very detailed and interesting points.
Ghost guns… I wasn’t familiar with that term before. It’s perfect though, in idea and in practice. Impossible to trace, perfectly legal, and unprovable. I’m reminded of a scene in Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation where an assassin assembles a silenced rifle with fake instrument parts. It’s truly awful, and the lack of regulation makes shootings all the more common. That Americans are allowed to carry guns out in the open without any doubts regarding mental illness, or irresponsibility means they’re so easy now. So is claiming self defence.
I also didn’t know about the Fairness Doctrine but seeing this revoked is saddening. So much news nowadays is delivered with bias or preference, that finding simple truth without opinion is very difficult. So is trash talking the competition, like the presidential debate. Good observation with fossil fuel companies supporting hate against the environment.
I have reason to believe gun restrictions haven’t improved in the slightest since Columbine. But at least the US is withdrawing troops from Afghanistan, troops that’ve been there for two decades. Regardless of anyone’s political motivation the previous POTUS was very aggressive with military spending…
To anyone just reading this, my aim remains to discuss, not to anger. Keep that in mind.
@TheJGG There are some new laws to penalize gun sales to criminals. (probably reinstating laws that used to be enforced in the past). Which would be a start. For the past 10-20 years? no real penalties were being enforced, is my understanding. It's possible that's an understatement.
@Tyranexx I could never imagine falling asleep in a movie theater. Too much noise and besides that, my fear of needlessly wasting/losing money would fuel my brains to stay wide awake...
@ogo79 Ah, of course you already knew that video. What the hell was I thinking? My bad...
As for the "it's dangerous to go alone" pictures: I kinda imagine your hallway or your basement looking like that: the walls lined with boxes, filled with postal ordered skeleton toys...
@TheJGG You're only NOW responding to my TV recommendation? That was like 20 pages ago...
You forgot my Netflix recommendation in the P.S. section. Oh, and give episode 1 of Sanctuary a go, whenever you've got 40 minutes to kill...
As for the new food pic: I'm sorry to say, but it still looks like you have a thing for burned edibles...
These also look charred, and it's all muddy, brownish colors. If I photograph my food, I like the pictures to be brimming with color, which already goes a long way towards fueling the appetite, even if the food itself doesn't particularly interest you.
I'm kind of suspecting that you're obviously a bit prejudiced in that department, and as such, for you it's the picture AND the memory of eating the actual pudding combined, which will more than likely bring back positive memories. For the strangers on the outside looking in, it really doesn't look all that attractive, I'm afraid...
Just to give you an idea, here's an example of one of my food pics:
Not saying it's to everyone's taste, but I dare to say that it sure looks colorful and inviting.
As for "Bowling for Columbine": I'm not gonna comment on that. I've seen it alright, and as an American living abroad, the whole stranglehold that weapons have on my fellow Americans sickens me, but discussing it in elaborate detail is not something I care for. And besides, I think that @WoomyNNYes already said it all anyways...
@Zuljaras Yeah.... The Switch Pro not being so Pro after all, as I've said all along. But a quick, anonymous dip into the related forum thread already showed me that the true believers are already re-spinning the rumor thread to fit the narrative. Now, apparently, Bloomberg predicted ALL of it correctly, while there's no 4K TV upscale, no considerably more powerful hardware "because third parties demanded/asked it from Nintendo", and there's no DLSS support either.
All it is, is some VERY minor upgrades, along the lines of what we've previously seen in the Nintendo DS line. But of course, a second model is still predicted, so now the goal posts are moved once again, and now we're waiting for that. Well, I'm not holding my breath, so I'm most definitely not a part of the aforementioned "we"...

@NEStalgia And what about you? Still drinking the Switch Pro Kool-Aid, or have you come to your senses, now that you know what those brand new OLED screens have been used for?

@ThanosReXXX I’ll find one that’s good.. eventually. That’s a work in progress… I feel very invited by that image so accept appreciation from me! In my defence it’s not burnt. It’s made from dates, so that’s the exact colour it is meant to be… dark brown.
Then again that’s probably my own photograph style. Ironically some of my best photos haven’t had popping colours. My favourite photograph I’ve taken is a mountain covered by clouds, completely in black and white. I think you’ve seen it before. If you haven’t I’ll put that in tomorrow. Guaranteed to not gross you out! if it does… well… we know which one of us has bad taste in mountains! Pays-Bas and all…
That’s fine, I think Woomy put it very well indeed!

@TheJGG I know it's not burnt, but the point was that it looked burnt, as did the previous pic with the potatoes. It's all about lighting and the right filters, to make it look at least just as inviting as it was to the human eye.
On a side note: I do like black & white photography, but each technique and/or style has its time and place. Food pics definitely aren't good without color: they need to pop.
By all means, though, please do post that mountain picture. I can't say I remember you having posted any,
so I assume I missed it.
@ThanosReXXX Its Switch Pro. I always believed in switch Pro. I never believed it would be a Nintendo Switch X. Bigger better screen, I'm sure new chipset that's better at least for the UI and store and generally feels like it's not from 2004.
@NEStalgia No, the Pro has 4K upscaling, a considerably better chip set AND not to forget DLSS support. Bloomberg and that one reliable leaker said so, after all...
The reality of it is that this is just the Switch's version of the DSi, or the 3DS XL. Nothing more, nothing less. But, goal posts have been moved again, and the guessing game of when the ACTUAL Pro arrives is already in full swing. By now it has become pathetic, to say the least.
@BloodNinja Well, here's the recipe: the sausages are Italian chipolata sausages, the potatoes are country potatoes, aka unpeeled potato wedges, chopped into smaller parts, spiced with garlic powder, curry powder, paprika powder, a little sea salt and pepper mix, and baked in olive oil and the green stuff that's just snow peas, short-cooked in slightly salted water.
Have at it, and enjoy.

@ThanosReXXX Someone else's Pro had that, but I was talking about the Nintendo one.
I've said since 2017 it would be a DSi/N3DS (not 3DSXL that was literally a 3DS in a larger shell with a larger screen, this is more like N3DS where it's a refined build with a whole new screen tech, and a new chipset that's invisibly slightly better (It has to be, the old one is discontinued.) Though N3DS added a new control stick and trigger, so it was technically still more.) rjejr and I were going on about it even before the Switch launched, right here
Now the conversation about the "real" switch pro...that's just depressing. This switch pro will carry Switch to 2027 at which point we'll get that all-new-control jumprope-powered console (with no BC) to replace it.
@NEStalgia Well, then we actually agree. Although I don't know about that "old 3DS vs N3DS" chip set comparison: far as we know now, it really isn't that much of a different chip set, so unless we get full disclosure from Digital Foundry, it still sounds like a rather demure update to me, basically only addressing the cosmetics and some connection and sound issues. The Joy Con apparently are also still their drifty selves, so no upgrade in that department either...
And yeah, as mentioned before, the whole "no, the REAL Pro is still coming, trust me" conversation is too pathetic to believe, but apparently, some people seem to think that they have inside knowledge, or an actually working crystal ball, and they like to see themselves as tech heads, dropping all kinds of "interesting" details about possible chip sets and hardware configurations and what not.
Had there actually been a Pro revealed today, then I would have kept my word and I would have entered that very forum topic, admitting I was wrong, and giving the people that would have then predicted it correctly their moment of fame, but conversely, I expected the same from them. But as it often goes with the internet communities, the rules are simply changed to fit the narrative, and no definite wrongs or rights are decided upon.
Instead, they just do some copy/pasting, or retro-fitting (or actually the opposite of that, but I wouldn't know what to call that. Neo-fitting?) stuff to make it look as if even this latest official reveal is still completely in line with what they've been conspiracy-theorizing about all along. I find it tiresome, childish, pathetic and far as I'm concerned, that thread should be locked.
The official model has been revealed, they were wrong, end of story. The rumored Switch Pro improvements will more than likely ultimately return in the guise of whatever actually new console Nintendo is currently working on, which will obviously be nothing like the Switch at all. After all: Nintendo's main goal is always finding NEW ways to play, NOT rehashing current ways to play, so we'll see what happens, but I'm definitely not expecting any additional Switch hardware-related news any time soon...
Eh, people have been speculating about Switch revisions since it 1st came out .... I'm personally very happy with the OLED model reveal as it definitely won't be having any games that play any better on it, let alone exclusives
So, I can carry on with my Lite & hopefully that'll last until whatever the successor is
@ThanosReXXX
I think there will be No Switch Pro name as Pro has been used for PlayStation and neither Nintendo or XBOX will use Pro on their product. XBOX has Series name on it, Switch has OLED edition name on it, PlayStation has Pro name.
So, will anyone get the Switch not so Pro? Personally I was planning to pass my Lite to my girlfriend and get a normal model so I might consider it if the price isn't ridiculous in my country, however chances are I'll still go for the normal one.
@Anti-Matter That's not the same. The OLED isn't a more powerful console, so the comparison is invalid. There just isn't any Switch Pro console at all, regardless of what it would really have been called.
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@ThanosReXXX Yeah, we know it has to be a new chip (because it can't be the old chip.) Usually that includes some performance bump (Similarly PS Slim models almost always include some performance enhancements, even if only DF can deduce them, vs their phat launch models.) DSi was actually probably a bigger leap from the base model than X1X was to XBone, technically as it had more hardware exclusives....so it's probably a terrible comparison, but we all have been saying DSi and we all know what each other means
It's depressing about the joycon. Those things are seriously a (ahem) trainwreck. I have a whole mountain of dead thumbsticks from those things. You'd think they'd have come up with something in new 'con that would, you know, not be DOA. Even for "Switch Amateur"
But yeah, we've always been in agreement I think about the inevitable revision, a.k.a "Switch Pro" and what it is. I'm not surprised at all by what it is, though I'm slightly surprised it doesn't have a slightly more enticing gimmick to it than only the screen. Nintendo always does some kind of gimmick, be it a form factor change, new "something" etc. All I wanted from Switch was a better screen (and not running games like MH Stories 2 as a slideshow, and joycon that don't fall apart if you touch them) but it sounds like it's just a screen upgrade (and probably battery which isn't a bad thing if you've got the launch day model that runs out of battery in an hour and a half or so.) Scalpers will still devastate sales when they open (when DO they open?) But maybe there will be less demand since there's nothing really upselling here.
But yeah the "real Switch Pro" conversation..... I don't know why anyone would expect a second new model at this point. Though I also think Nintendo boxed themselves into a corner and the "Switch Pro" will have to be replaced by a new generation at a time that it will make the Switch Pro look like a real wasted product. The hardware is getting long in the tooth real fast, and even exclusives are starting to run kind of gimpy. They talk about a 10 year life cycle, but I don't see how they could squeeze more than 2 out of it. Consumers may still be into it, but devs are hitting visible bottlenecks already. This is year 5 now, so I'm guessing new console 2 holidays after "Pro" launches.
