Busy Friday, and this'll be one of the rare weekends where I put in some extra work time. I'm dealing with an issue for a customer that I couldn't quite resolve before leaving work earlier. In just the right circumstances, some of their internal data, when creating a record, is overwriting an older one. This is causing some odd data changes and/or loss in some cases. I've pinpointed the area this is happening, but not the exact cause just yet. Thankfully, this is an area of the system that only they're set up to use (yay custom setups!), so it shouldn't affect any other customers for the time being. They've been advised to avoid using the problem area for entering that data until it's resolved.
For those who know a thing or two about databases, there's an odd ID swap happening, and I'm not entirely sure what line of code is causing this just yet. Only that I've been able to replicate the problem.
Thanks to that chaos, I missed a lot of the Treehouse presentation, but I did catch a bit of the Origami King footage and enjoyed it. Hoping to watch more on that later. I did also take note of the Bakugan game. I'm not personally very interested in it. Even so, I'm surprised at how much vitriol I'm seeing about it online. Look, I get it. It wasn't what anyone was expecting. But they said up front that it wasn't a Nintendo IP. You'd think Nintendo had just robbed a candy store in broad daylight, put up a high-security fence complete with guards, and slowly eaten all the candy right in front of the agonized masses. /eyeroll
Maybe it's just been my day, but I really think a lot of people are overreacting.
@Eel I encountered both Jessie & James, complete with the Meowth balloon, during my lunch hour today. Definitely a nice little kick in the nostalgia, though I agree that their designs are a bit out of place when compared to the other Rockets and human designs in the game.
@Heavyarms55 I'm genuinely curious about Japan's trains vs. US trains. I don't doubt Japan's are loads better. They finally added Wi-Fi to the trains that run through here a few years ago. But forget about doing much of anything on it once the passengers really start piling on as you get closer to a major city. Too, as the freight lines own the tracks in most of the US, freight trains take precedence as they're where the money is. That's all well and good, but being on a severely delayed train doesn't make most peoples' day.
My last ride on the train was a little over three years ago; I went to a Symphony of the Goddesses concert in Chicago (A highly recommended must for Zelda fans!). The train on the way there was mostly on time but did become way more crowded than usual thanks to an interstate train that we picked up the slack for; it was running 5+ hours behind and caught up with us about halfway through the journey. The journey home took even longer as we had to pull off into sidings twice to wait on a freight train, and then got stuck behind a really slow one for the last hour or so.
And as I'm adding the finishing touches to this post, I see that @NEStalgia kinda covered that in the monologue I just found....
@NEStalgia If you're curious, the line I'm referring to is owned by Eh-land Canada National. It's an insanely busy one, too. Multiple freight trains at almost all hours of the day. And yes, they've cut down on Amtrak service a bit in light of the pandemic. Normally two passenger trains (ignoring an interstate train) service it, but last I knew they've only cut it down to one. And I don't think it runs every day.
(No offense to any Canadians meant. That's just my alt name for the country. I use personal names for various things/places a lot. )
@BruceCM Still playing through XC: DE. Hoping to make more progress on Colony 6 this evening before working on the plot. I'm in Chapter 13 right now. Also hoping to run through a short game this weekend so that I feel like I'm making progress on something lol. Leaning towards INSIDE.
Currently playing: Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy (Switch)
I found something insteresting about ESRB rating on game cover.
I found there were 4 different design ESRB rating.
1. USA version with just English only language
2. Canada version with French language
3. Latina version with Spanish language
4. Singapore version (playasia) same as USA version but it has a Green Blue circle logo on the front cover.
@Tyranexx Yeah I gotta be honest, based on the info we got about the Treehouse livestream, I only came for the Paper Mario gameplay and I'm happy with what I've seen. I did skim through the Bakugan footage and I thought it looked kinda eh. I also have a backlog to deal with anyway, so I didn't lose sleep over it. lol
@Tyranexx It's not that trains are never late in Japan, sometimes things happen that just cannot be controlled for. (flooding or heavy snow, or "human accidents") But trains are so consistent and reliable that if there is a delay, you can ask the train company for a note to take to your job to show that it really was not your fault, and most companies in Japan will honor it. That's the level of respect they have. And trains crisscross Japan almost anywhere you could want to go. The combination of subways, regular lines and bullet trains is super useful.

@ThanosReXXX While computer based translation systems have improved to the point that my original career plans are now worthless, I'm very skeptical about that mask. Real time? Unless it has some seriously effective predictive algorithms it's not gonna work well. Unless you speak, it records what you say and then translates it. In which case, it's just a microphone on your face.

@Tyranexx That's shameful and offensive...I support our Canuckistani friends!
Except CN isn't Canadian anymore. It's a publicly traded corporation and the largest single shareholder is Bill Gates . The largest and second largest RRs are primarily owned and controlled by Bill Gates (CN) and Warren Buffet (BNSF)....a horrifying thought... Yet fitting. Our rails came from the robber barons, and to the robber barons they have returned.
Aw, snap !! 🤪
I got stung by a scorpion when i was searching for Wisp's spirits.
I have no idea if the scorpion was really close before i realized it. 😫
Also, at the same time during playing ACNH....
I can't believe to make two Cranky dudes cried in happiness. I thought Cranky dudes were rarely to be melancholy. 😅
It was an argument between Curt and Apollo about who was the crabbiest between of them. I answered "I like you both" to stop the argument. For some reason, they get touched by my kind answer. It was silly and funny to see Cranky dudes cried like that.
@gcunit Yeah, it really wasn't much to write home about. I guess that the Treehouse format just doesn't work as well in an online chat setting, because normally, it's already slow, but now it was even worse. The new Paper Mario still looks pretty interesting, though. So it was still kinda nice to see some more of it.
@Heavyarms55 I'd certainly be curious to find out how good that translation mask is. I might just get it, some time later this year. I've always wanted to go to certain places in Asia, and even though I do have a knack for learning languages, it's predominantly Western languages that I pick up pretty quickly. Asian languages seem far more complicated, so having a tool like that for holiday purposes might just come in handy.
Or maybe you're right, and it's just total and utter crap. Only one way to find out, I suppose. Or maybe I should try and locate some reviews...
