And now for something completely different, or rather: two completely different, but still VERY cool things, in my humble opinion...

I came across these during my (unfortunately fruitless) hour long search for the right Pong home console, as so often happens when you're looking for one thing, and you don't find it, but the internet is always ready to offer up all kinds of weird and seemingly unrelated stuff (well, far as the second link is concerned, anyway), that is still interesting enough to persuade you to click on it.

So, here they are. Give 'em a look and let me know what you think. The second link instantly made me think of @Heavyarms55, by the way...

@BruceCM Yeah, but that's probably a flat screen with a tube behind it, no? Can't imagine that it's one of those millimeter thick TV's. Perhaps it was something like this?

@Zuljaras Well, I always speak my mind, regardless of what others think. It may come across as harsh at times, but I'd rather just give people my honest thoughts, than to convert them into something that might sound nicer/more polite, but isn't my sentiment at all. I'm the original WYSIWYG person...

Pretty much, although I think it was Panasonic, @ThanosReXXX .... The downstairs one is 'only' 5 years old but that's still going strong & really is a lot thinner, with a very thin border around the screen

@BruceCM My granddad had that exact screen that I posted, cabinet included, which is why it was the first one I thought about. I myself never had one of those older flat screens with a tube. My first own TV, when I moved out of my parent's house, was a Philips Matchline widescreen CRT:
Untitled
After that, I bought my first true flat screen, a non-HD Panasonic Viera LCD:
Untitled
And about 6 years after that one was well and truly done, I bought my first full HD screen, also a Panasonic Viera, but instead of LCD, I chose a plasma screen, because of the better blacks, for gaming and movies:
Untitled
And that's the one I'm still using to this day, because due to several reasons, I simply don't have the funds to buy a new TV, so it'll have to last me a bit longer still, even though it has quite a bit of burn-in due to channel logos and subtitles, resulting in light blue smears all over the screen. Luckily, they're not always visible, so sometimes it's less annoying than other times, but it's definitely due for a replacement, so fingers crossed my funds will be replenished before the screen says poof...

@ThanosReXXX Brown, orange, tan......man, I loved 70's design..... 50's had all the pastels.... 60's had bright primary colors. Since the 90's all we get are shades of white and shades of gray, and far, far less than fifty.....

@Zuljaras To be fair, despite the sameyness Anti's "one trick pony" art, has all the makings of a market explosion. That's the kind of thing that becomes "the big thing" to the middle school set where they must collect all 800 and every arts & craft store has them by the registers, much to the confusion of adults. Then comes the tie-in merch.

Think Funko. And the many things before it.

That's you're problem. You're an "artist"....Anti's a merchandiser. Anti's self-derivatively endless work has the makings of global market expansionism.

@NEStalgia Well I am not an artist but I guess that's why you put it in "".

You are right. These different but actually the same stuff sell. It really reminds me of Funko now that you mentioned it.

I just can't click with work of an artist that makes what he wants (by "wants" I mean sexually desires) ... You know shirtless dudes.

Is that why some artists almost exclusively draw naked women?

I hope people do not think of me as a person that sexually desires hordes of nightmarish creatures

@Link-Hero Haha absolutely the same thinking here Well I have been jerk to him with everything except for his art

It would be better if you guys could make up your minds and finally click on "ignore". It's honestly annoying to see the usual "vs anti-matter" tirade flood the thread every other week or so.

This goes to you too, anti-matter, if they bother you so much, click on ignore too.

And no, I don't care if any of you think adding a person to the ignore list is somehow a 'weak' thing to do or something like that, so please don't bring it up.

@Zuljaras No, I put "artist" in quotes for hipster value of the self importance of artists. It's not just an artist, like the common rabble. An "artist". I mean you sculpt, which is artwork. But yeah, Funko, the poop with eyes (that started in Japan) all these silly samey things really catch on commercially for whatever reason, especially in that middle school age group. The sameyness but slightly differentness seems to be the core appeal somehow.

I can't help but think of the Senran developer that wants to "share the joy of boobs with the world" Kinda the same thing I guess I mean the shirtless dudes, not the hordes of nightmarish creatures. That's just messed up.

@NEStalgia Yeah, true enough. But on the other hand: nowadays, I'm actually okay with the non-garish colors, both for consoles and TV's. I like them to fit into the room, instead of stand out and distract me from what I should really be paying attention to, which is the movie or TV show, or the game I'm playing.

@Link-Hero Well, if being honest is being a jerk, then I'll happily take the blame for this one.

@Eel So, what you're basically saying is that the bull should take the blame for someone waving a red cloth in front of him?

That's kind of the world upside down. Besides, he usually asks what people think about his "art", so there's bound to be both people that do like it, and people that don't. Nothing strange or annoying about that, in my honest opinion.

As for using the ignore feature: I've already expressed my feelings about that multiple times, so I won't use it. And I'm not annoyed about EVERYTHING he does, so far as I'm concerned, there's no reason to use it, even if
I would be someone that agrees with this particular feature.

I'm sorry, but the bull here is him. You guys know how how to poke him and get him reacting.

So please, get over your aversion of the ignore feature or start being the better person.

And no, this isn't about you guys disliking his art. It's a general observation.

@Eel No offense taken, but the bull is us. And particularly me: I actually am a Taurus. He knows what the effect is of some of his posts, so he could probably expect some of the reactions in advance. I'm not going to speak for others, but in my case, it's not me trying to antagonize him on purpose or whatever.

Much like with me posting that link to Sims 4 on the Xbox One: that was actually genuinely meant as a positive post, which he completely misconstrued.

But as we're discussing this, I've thought of something of a solution/compromise, that would require non of us to use the "adult/better person" ignore function, so how about this, and this is a genuine suggestion:

Drawings are art. We have a Nintendo Life artist thread, so why doesn't he only post his drawings there, and instead of spamming the Chit-Chat thread with them, where both people that like and don't like them get confronted by them all the time, he could then just put up a link to the relevant page on the artist thread in here, so that people that DO want to see his drawings can click on them whenever they want.

Sounds like a good solution to me, even though I'm obviously not objective, but I am trying to think as objectively about it as possible.

@ThanosReXXX Thanks. I'd checked the timings but they'd listed the GMT instead of BST time, so I thought it was due at 5pm UK, not 6pm.

But now I'm reminded that I don't like the Treehouse format - it's very slow and it spoils the experience for me, so I've only watched for a minute or so. Really just wanted to see the WayForward reveal.

I'm avoiding NL for the rest of the day because I don't want me "it's almost like E3!" experience to be ruined. I don't get to watch until this evening. I agree with @gcunit a little that it spoils the experience sometimes. They're usually careful about what they show though and show it in such a way that doesn't. Though their focus the last several years of spending 3 days with one game in bi-hourly segments spoils more than teh older format where they'd show tons of games. But mostly I'll play a game and it's like "oh yeah, so this is that thing from Treehouse!" The pole vault in Animal Crossing for example.
