@NEStalgia I am quite happy not owning a car. One of the things I am most unhappy about when I go back to the US will be, once again, needing a car. I hate cars, driving, and automobile culture. I'd much rather be rained on, every, single, day.

@Heavyarms55
Will you consider mount bike for your transportation ?
I drive with mount bike for more than 10 years as i don't care if i can't drive a car.
Anyone here have experience with the Ys series? Particularly Ys Origin that was announced earlier. I've read some decent things but was curious about any community impressions.
@Heavyarms55 I've heard of Jet's, but have never had it; it's a chain that isn't really found around here. That cheese bread does especially sound divine! I'm a sucker for just about anything with melted cheese involved lol. I'll eat just about any pizza overall, depending on the situation. I should clarify that Little Caesars, when ordering normally, isn't usually bad at all. Their hot 'n ready pizzas that you can just drive through and grab...not very good at all. A lot of it has been under the warmer for too long.
I'll eat pizza cold, hot, and anywhere in between too, so long as it isn't too nuked and doesn't contain the few taboo toppings that I hate lol.
I've tried baking or frying my own fries a time or two, but I'm terrible at cutting them to sizes I like (Read: skinny) and honestly prefer those of some chains. Firm/crisp, skinny fries are where it's at for me. Can't say they've ever caused me any issues sometime after the fact, so to speak, but I've been there in a few situations. As much as I like the Asian Zing wing sauce at Buffalo Wild Wings, it has a similar effect on me.
@NEStalgia Yeah, Pizza Hut's thin crust is pretty meh, though I don't know if formaldehyde is the right word for it lol. But it has been awhile since I've had it. I've only had the buffet the last couple of times I went, and the pizza selection was either that stuff or the passable "normal" crust. I don't even know if the one here has deep dish pizza. IMO the only thing that makes the trip worth it these days are the cinnamon sticks with icing dribbled over them.
The one here used to have an excellent fruit and streudel type of dessert pizza complete with icing that came in either apple or cherry flavors. Kind of like a pizza-ized fruit pie. That was actually pretty good, but they discontinued it. I think it's been at least a decade since they've offered it.
@Anti-Matter I have a bike I use sometimes, but there's not a lot of time where I need it. I generally prefer to walk to the train or bus stations and take those. In my opinion the only reason to own a car in Japan is if you're a hobbyist or you regularly need to transport large stuff.
But in the US, such a massive country, everything is so spread apart that unless you live in a major city - there's really no reliable public transport. It's a car - or you cannot function in society. The few bus lines are very unreliable, there are very few train lines and air travel is only long distance, dangerous with the pandemic, extremely expensive, and very uncomfortable.
@Tyranexx I'm very open to a wide range of pizza, I think I mentioned before that unless it's burned or soggy then I consider almost all pizza at least decent. And decent is where I consider Little Caesar's.
Jet's cheese bread is awesome! (or at least was last time I had it, years ago) But yes, they are not very wide spread from what I gather. There were a good few in Michigan but I've not heard much about them elsewhere. I actually once asked them if they'd ever consider branching out internationally and they sent me a link to apply for a franchise. XD. I don't want to say I could never do it - but I don't think I'd want to or enjoy running a restaurant.
I don't cut my own fries, I buy frozen pre-cut ones when I just pan fry in veggie oil. Cutting fries by hand would be a massive pain in the... well, you know.

@Heavyarms55 I actually was referring to to oil McDonald's uses......
But aside from that I 350% agree with you. I won't be happy until every last motor vehicle is melted to slag. I want the end of the car, and I want it yesterday. Except.... The stupid plague has made the world double down on it.
@NEStalgia OHHHH That's what you mean! Sorry, I was replying early morning my time and the joke just flew over my head!
Wow, I wouldn't go that far. I have no issue with cars for hobbyists or anything. My father was a big classic car buff and I grew up going to car shows and watching people restore old vehicles. I find that sort of thing very interesting and fun. What I dislike is the borderline absolute necessity of owning a car in the US. Like I said to @Tyranexx and @Anti-matter above, most places in the US don't have public transportation anything like what Japan has. In Japan you really just don't need a car. There are some exceptions for people who live in very very rural areas but they're a pretty small minority. But growing up in Michigan, you had a car or you could not function as an adult in society. You couldn't by groceries, get to work, go anywhere or do anything. Outside of Detroit proper, buses are far and few between, come infrequently and unreliably and stigmatized. Not to mention the big three auto companies actively have worked to suppress any other forms of transportation like trains and trams - in Detroit and Chicago they all but blatantly bribe politicians not to support public transport. And I have no doubt they try the same lobbying on the national level.

@Tyranexx Ys VIII is utterly phenomenal. I'd rate it just below the xenoblade series and SMT#FE as one of my favorite and most memorable games of all time. BUY IT! It's great fun and the story is haunting and oddly relevant (second thread im saying that today... ) It's an action RPG that...idk with the speed and music feels almost like the sonic rpg he will never have but with a deep xc like story. Dana is my most memorable video game character in a long time. Some other characters are disposable but overall it's great. Origins is good.... Apparently some say it's one of the best next to 8. Personally there's one or two I'd place above it. At first i didn't "get" it... It took sticking with it to understand it and feel it out. But it's ultimately a fast paced hack and slash rpg series with some zelda/metroid type progression mechanics and great stories. They're not really connected in any meaningful way beyond the continuing adventures of Adol (usually). Though 9 is supposedly going to connect more directly somehow (but i doubt Dana or the events of 8 will even be mentioned.)
Anyway, yeah, can't speak highly enough of that series. It isn't as polished as an AAA or monolith game, but falcom knows what they do well and they do it consistently.
Pizza hut still has buffets?? Last time i saw one... Or even saw a sit down hut was the 90s! They're all take out vestibules with a single waiting bench here now. Have been for decades! Those were fun. Then again the food was better then. But it still wasn't like it was in the 80s. Almost more Uno back then. They called it "pan pizza" but it was legit deep dish served in a legit black steel pan. It has nothing in common with even late 90s hut. Let alone today's. It was real pizza. Iirc they served real beer back then too. Very different place. Back then they were owned by pepsico. Then they were sold off to... Oh what do they call themselves now...YUM Brands. Ick. It feels so.... So..... Reggie.... . They took it from being a pizza to sell soda for to being an iconic brand with optimized unit costs. A.k.a every last corner cut.
@Tyranexx Only played Ys VIII to date, which I consider to be one of the best JRPGs this gen. That particular entry combines fun, lightning fast action combat with level design and progression structures reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda. There are also fun side-quests, light base-building elements, social aspects with optional cutscenes that allow you to get to know the characters better, etc.
I think Origins is much more rudimentary and more of a straight action-rpg, though.
@Ralizah Speaking of base building type games, I was just wondering what else there might be like that on Switch. I really enjoy games where that's a big part of, if not the main part of the experience. Things like Cities Skylines, Civilization (the series), Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing NH, and I even played a good bit of Fallout Shelter and hated myself for starting to pay microtransactions (which is why I quit that one)
I'm gonna pop over to the suggestion thread too of course.

@Heavyarms55 : I'm merely judging by superficialities here, but Project Highrise looks very similar to Fallout Shelter (it's a tower-building simulator).
I have only ever played it in sandbox mode though as the standard mode looks far too daunting, and I play games to destress and curse less.
I had a huge blackout last night. It was so weird driving around. Half the stores had power, half didn’t. One road was split in half, one side having power, the other not. The storm was crazy too!
Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.
@Ralizah Yeah Origins is....I guess kind of a spinoff or more or less? People love it but to me it's more its own thing than "Ys". Memories of Celcetta OTOH is excellent. I doubt it can compare to VIII and I've only played the early parts of it, but I think that one is another classic in the making (and is part of the Adol main story line.)
Well, going back from VIII to MoC, which is IV, is bound to be a bit strange, @NEStalgia .... I played it on Vita & can confirm it was great there Got it in Steam sales to replay sometime, as well! Ys Origin is a prequel, so it probably seems like a spin-off but it's worth a look for fans, at least
YES !!
I have kicked out All girl villagers from island. 😁😁😁
Now i have All Boy villagers with breakdown like this:
