@ogo79 It's not that I'm personally bothered by it, it's just that the implications and history behind Asians and massage parlors are rather dark and I'd rather that sort of thing not be made light of. That's all. And especially in light of recent events, I'm trying to avoid stereotypes like that as much as I can.

Haw haw haw, I just completed Resident Evil 3 (remake) without healing or using the item box, and in S rank (all done on the easiest difficulty, of course).

That was fun. Gave me lots of points.

Now I'm just a few challenges away from being able to buy the infinite rocket launcher and then I'll be able to play the game on harder difficulties.

🧐 Because we know a rocket launcher doesn't need much aiming skills.

Edit: rocket launcher get. Whahaha.

Gonna say a word here on behalf of my friend ogo, despite being on this site in different eras.

Namely context matters and it's fruitless to accuse others of things, especially when it's known to be a -stereotyped- or parodic turn of phrase. And thus not the best scenario to prompt any further exam toward one's social miscues. In a career on this site ogo uses plain language to express himself and has no history whatsoever of perpetuating any dishonorable archetypes. Policing language, however well intended is likely best left to the site operators.

Obviously this is only speaking for myself so, he can feel free to disavow this if my comments don't reflect the situation.

@Tyranexx The 7 day trial also comes free with Animal Crossing, so no coins needed. Once you get that game, and play it to the point where you'd need to unlock online functionalities, you'll automatically get that option, as well as various paid options, such as 1 month, 3 months or a full year. One month is $3.95. But yeah, I do agree with you on the service in general being rather underwhelming, especially in light of the competition, but even compared to what they themselves offered on their previous consoles. I mean Virtual Console was FAR superior to the "rent-a-game" service that they give us now...

As for BBC Earth: the series has been all but crowned best in the business, and various times over, so to say that it's pretty decent, would only be scratching the surface. It has been running for almost more than 10 years now, and it has gone from strength to strength, even to the point where new camera and audio recording methods have been invented, to get the footage they needed. And the series also has some of the best narrators in the field, so yeah, it's safe to say that it's my favorite wildlife series.

I do like other shows, but I've usually found these to be more on the lighter side. I've also watched several of the Disney Nature shows, and while I've also enjoyed them, they're far too staged for my taste, so they play out more like an actual movie than a nature documentary, and seeing as I'm more of a facts guy...

Well, I'll assume you get the picture.

If I had to make a comparison with games, then BBC Earth is the simulation game vs the other programs being the more arcadey game types. Still fun to watch, but just not as good.

On a side note: BBC documentaries in general are pretty good. I've seen several of their series on countries and/or governments, and it's pretty high grade journalism, with thorough research and candid opinions, which is exactly what I like. For example: a couple of months ago, I watched a two-part BBC documentary on Myanmar (formerly known as Birma, in colonial times), and they managed to make it a VERY interesting watch, even though they touched upon everything there was to see and what was happening over there, which I assure you definitely isn't all good or all that great. But the country itself is amazing.

And I'm not just saying that because one of my best friends is living there...

Guys...
Look what i have bought just now. 😛
Untitled
YAY...!! 😄😄😄
Finally i have New 3DS XL Europe version.
Now i have Three Nintendo 3DS machines with different regions (USA, Japan & Europe). 😁
My mission was accomplished.
I only have 2 starter games with very opposite vibes.
One is very Masculine game (Dillon's Dead Heat Breakers) with Mild Violence, Guns, Post Apocalypse theme.
Another one is very Feminine game (Girl's Fashion Shoot) with No Violence at all, just about being pretty and savvy.

Btw, actually i want to reset the machine since used to be it belong to previous owner and the machine still have his account. 😛
If i have to reset to factory setting, which city i must choose when i make new account ? (United Kingdom,???)
I want the city that doesn't have tax for eshop purchase. I chose Georgia for my USA 3DS XL for no tax eshop purchase. 😛

@Anti-Matter Wow, 3 3DS’s from 3 different regions! Will you do it for Switch’s now? 😆

[Edited by BabyYoda71]

Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.

Anti-Matter

@BabyYoshi65
Switch is already Free Region so any Switch games will be playable regardless of its region.
My Switch is PAL version, bought on December 2017.
If there is a new revision of Nintendo Switch, i might consider another Nintendo Switch so i can have two different island for Animal Crossing New Horizons.

Is 1-2- Switch popular? I don’t hear anybody talk about it, but it is actually a really good game. I love it, but now that Clubhouse Games is here, I don’t know if it’s fully worth it.

Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.

BabyYoda71

@Anti-Matter Isn’t there some Switch games available only in Japan?

Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.

@BabyYoshi65
I like 1-2-Switch.
I like the Telephone mini game.
I can play 1-2-Switch by Solo, that means i take control of the Joy Cons. Whichever side win doesn't matter since i play for myself.

About Japanese only Switch games, check them from playasia.
I have 1 Japan only Switch game so far (Sumikko Gurashi Atsumare Sumikkotown).
On my list, there are another titles i considered such as Model Debut Nicola, Pretty Princess Magical Coordinate, Neko-Tomo, etc.

Does anybody have ideas for topics I can cover about games for a Youtube video? I can't film sketches downtown in my city until the protests are over and I don't really have any video ideas. I already did Horses in Games, I might do Cooking in Games next but besides that I don't really know what to do after.

I don't like Monster Hunter.

I'm probably listening to green day right now.

ThanosReXXX

@Lucarianzx How about free 2 play done right? And/or games that DON'T take advantage of the gamer and his hard-earned cash, where loot boxes and/or monetization is concerned? You can do something pretty in-depth with that, I think. First of all there's the difference between f2p and regular, paid games, but they both use these mechanics, and for some it works, regardless of how much of a scam it basically is, mainly due to a momentary popularity (aka Fortnite and the like), and in others, it's highly criticized, such as in many of EA's and in some of Activision's efforts.

And then there's the ones that REALLY do it right, such as Warframe, in which all you'll need in return for not falling for the monetization mechanics, is more patience, because the no-pay alternative in the game is obviously to do quite a bit more grinding to get where you need to be if you don't (want to) pay your way through it.

Another potential interesting topic could be how and/or if games have REALLY changed all that much, besides having better graphics or bigger environments. Are the underlying mechanics still the same, or have there been some actual innovations that made a significant impact in how we play? And I don't mean quasi-interesting additions such as rogue-lite or procedural levels etc. (which, by the way, are also not always done right, much to the detriment of such games)

Personally, I think that each and every genre/type of game is still the same at its core, meaning that if you strip them all down to the basics, and then compare them to stripped down 8 or 16 bit games, you'd have the same core mechanics as those.

A good example of my point is what one (in my opinion) brilliant comment underneath the recent Space Invaders article said, in regards to something mentioned in that article:

“younger generations that will understandably quickly tire of dodging enemy bullets while trying to bag a few kills of their own” - That’s basically the entire gameplay hook of Fortnite 😂

On a side note: perhaps you might also give some hints as to whether or not the topics need to be Nintendo-only or if it can be multi-console and/or gaming in general, which might help giving you more relevant suggestions, but I hope that either one of these suggestions here might offer you some kind of inspiration to get you started.

Lucarianzx

@thanosrexxx Thanks for the ideas! I'm looking to do multi console I guess not just Nintendo, but they innovated heavily and still continue to do that. I might do a video called Scamming/ Paying to Win in Video games because now that you brought that up, I actually have a good idea for a sketch I can film and put at the end of my video about free to play games.

ThanosReXXX

@Lucarianzx You're welcome.
As for the innovations: I meant in games, not in hardware. So, look at the basics of every game type, and you'll find that they're mostly still the same, if you strip them down to the base mechanics. They look and run better, and are more elaborate, but racers are still racers, and fighting games are still fighting games. Other types are quite a bit younger in comparison, so obviously harder to compare to older stuff. First person shooters come to mind, in that regard, but they can of course be compared to their N64 or PSX counterparts.

Hm. Amazon has the commodore 64 mini for like 35~40 dollars right now.

Do you guys think it would be worth it if I'm only interested in playing around with BASIC? I don't particularly care about the games, but I do love me some retro programing languages.

Hmmm maybe Petit Computer on the 2ds is enough though.

I've been thinking about making a thread about game compilations. It could have a title ending with Vol. 1 (like a game compilation with many volumes, wow!).

Btw, who else had Sonic Mega Collection/Plus? that one was worth alone for the original menu music, it was just fantastic.
