@ThanosReXXX I think "This is what happened to the NY world store amidst protests/looting" could have been reported without playing Washington Post going into "the looting is happening because of (link) this issue, (link) this issue, (link) this issue" etc. Yeah, I do agree that reporting on the World Store is on-point. But the article leaned heavily into being reporting on the US political landscape with Nintendo being a loose framework to tie it in. In the same vein of "pirating is bad and you shouldn't do it. Here's 30 awesome things pirates are doing."

@Eel I didn't find them all that different from the water bottles that I used to take with me to the gym, or when I went cycling, so that's why I didn't see any reason to laugh at you. Had I actually caved back then, and bought that gyro-bowl, then you would have had every right to laugh at me, though...

@NEStalgia Yeah, forgot to mention that bit. They could have worded it differently, apparently. But I wouldn't have been able to tell, because like I said, I haven't read the article itself.

My Switch is functioning again! The new joycon is working and I am again stuck to Terraria!

I even found and ordered the 3DS version for collection purposes!

I love finding games late and now when they were first introduced.

@ThanosReXXX Thank you for the kind words again!

Now I have to work on the game for a while as I am too far behind my tech demo and it is almost 80% done!

However drawing new assets is always refreshing!

@Heavyarms55 Yard work is a love/hate relationship for me. I don't mind keeping some of my property looking spick and span where bushes and other wanted plants are involved. It's the weeding and mowing that I really dislike. A benefit to the latter, at least, is that sometimes I can zone out on the less rough bits of lawn. I tend to do some of my best thinking then. Unfortunately, mowing also triggers my allergies....

@ThanosReXXX Trust me, there are plenty of "old wisdoms" and "wives' tales" floating around here, too. I have an uncle who still believes that pink chewing gum gets rid of moles (the digging kind), an older aunt who used to believe cracking your knuckles makes them swell, and how persimmon seeds cut in half can help predict what kind of winter we'll have. Some of them are neat to go along with and learn about, but I doubt few really believe them lol.

And yeah, that article @NEStalgia mentioned went downhill fast. It didn't start out TOO badly, but the further down I read, the worse it got. IMO, at the very least the comments should have been locked from the get-go.

@Zuljaras Thanks for the photos + video! It's nice to see the final product! You have a real talent for creating figurines! Does the cyclops have a name? Or is it based off of a specific one from Greek/Roman mythology, like Polyphemus?

@NintendoByNature Hey, just wanted to mention that I saw your comments in a certain volatile article earlier and was about to post a response there, but the comments were locked around then. To get to the point, I agree with everything you typed out and hope that you and yours are safe. While most protests downstate have been peaceful, some of the smaller cities are also experiencing issues from those who are taking advantage of the discord and causing trouble.

@Tyranexx yea i appreciate that, really. We're safe so far, but my family is pretty terrified. It's not just neighboring towns, but neighboring subdivisions that have been hit. Not to get too far into it, but thank you; and I hope you stay safe as well down there.

@Tyranexx Wait, WHAT??? How is that even supposed to work, then?

I do know the one about the knuckles. That used to be VERY persistent over here as well. Either swollen hands/knuckles, or getting some other kind of damage, such as worn bones in your fingers. Of course, nowadays we know that it's not the knuckles themselves (or any bone or cartilage) that creates the sound, but air moving between the moving parts.

On a side note: tell your uncle that what actually DOES work against moles, is to cut a glass bottle clean in half, horizontally, and then put the upper part into the ground, neck down. That'll catch winds and will amplify that sound, which will then reverberate through the ground, and moles REALLY don't like that.

Doesn't work on all kinds, though. And some of these buggers are just too stupid to find another garden or yard to dig in, so they'll keep coming back anyways, but at the very least, it'll be highly disruptive to their digging efforts.

@ogo79 It's dangerous to go alone. Here, take this:

@NintendoByNature Good to hear! And thanks. Yeah, I'm not gonna get into it past this point - this site is one of the few oases I have right now from RL - but thought I'd check up on ya.

@ThanosReXXX Supposedly, moles will be tricked into eating the gum (various methods of what to do out there) and that it'll "gum up their insides" or kill them or something like that. I'd think most animals would avoid something so foreign in their environment such as that, and I haven't found any proof that gum works lol.

I'll have to try the bottle trick sometime. The reason I even know a thing or two about some of the odder ways to get rid of moles is because they like tunneling through different areas of my yard. The gum tale was among the advice I received on getting rid of them. I don't mind TOO much if they stay away from some of my landscaping, but there's an in-ground tire planter I have to watch. One tunneled into it last year and unfortunately really rearranged the bulbs I had in it. Most didn't come up this spring, and most of the ones that did are definitely out of place.

Ornery, troublesome things. I do know they dislike a ton of loud noise. You'd think my mowing activities would scare them away, but it seems I haven't done that frequently enough for it to work.

So... some while back, I mentioned to several people that besides having ordered a couple of Switch games, I also used my final work bonus for something actually useful, and something not so useful (but still highly enjoyable nonetheless), which I've kind of kept as a surprise so far, because I wanted to be able to firmly test run it, to find out if it was worth my money and/or if I would REALLY be happy with my purchase. Turns out, I most definitely am. But seeing as I want it to be a surprise still, I'll slap a big spoiler wall on it, so you people will have to click the blacked out part of this comment to see.

The useful thing I bought was a new desk chair, because the old one had a broken arm rest on one side, and wasn't really all that comfortable to sit in anymore. Then again: it was also incredibly cheap. Bought it roughly two years ago at IKEA for about 25 euros:

And the chair I bought now, is 137 euros. Bit of price difference there, and it not only shows, but also feels the part, so I'm very happy with this one useful purchase as well:
Untitled
It's also a REALLY nice gaming chair, as I've found out today. And seeing as it can tilt back quite a bit, I reckon it probably ain't too shabby for taking a nap in either...

So, now for the surprise part: go ahead, click on it, I dare you...
(I'll just tag you @BruceCM, because you were the last one I discussed this with, and perhaps you may still be wondering what it was that I bought)

And with this purchase of the Neo Geo Mini, I've now completed the purchase of all the Minis that I actually wanted to own: the NES, SNES, Genesis/Megadrive and this one.

For those interested, the complete gallery with a couple more pictures can be found here. I figured I was already photo-bombing the Chit-Chat thread as it is, so I didn't want to post any more pictures of it here.

@Tyranexx When you do try it, be sure to stick the bottle in a tunnel, or near a mole hill, to make sure it'll maximize the effect of the wind howling and reverberating through the bottle neck. Some people just stick them in the ground at random, and then complain that it doesn't work, but obviously, the trick needs space/air, so the wind can circulate and make the noise.

Oh, and just in case you're wondering: you yourself will hardly notice, due to the sound literally being funneled downwards, hence putting the bottle into the ground neck first. Those straight bottles, such as wine bottles, work best, by the way. Just in case you're thinking of cutting up any other bottle...

@Tasuki Well, I ordered it through the Dutch alternative for Amazon, but it's actually a German brand, and it's made in China, so I figure you might just be able to find and/or order it from a local shop somewhere in your vicinity as well.

The brand of the chair is Tectake, and it is listed as a "Luxury design Desk chair", so perhaps you might be able to find it that way. Or use the official shop picture to Google it might also work, if you also add Tectake to the search option:
Untitled
Here's the page of the local shop I bought it from.
https://www.bol.com/nl/p/tectake-luxe-design-bureaustoel-zwar...
Seeing as it is in Dutch, the description won't make much sense to you, but at least you'll be able to see all the pictures of it, with close ups and measurements and so on.

@ThanosReXXX Thanks. Yeah appearently it's only available in Europe as I searched my regions Amazon and nothing came up and when I googled it, only Amazon UK shows it. Thanks anyway for the info I will just keep looking.

@Tasuki I was just about to edit my previous comment to tell you that. No options to get it sent over, then?
Although: the package weighs 20 kilos, so probably not the best of options.

Amazon US does have two alternate options, which are more or less similar, far as I can see. Only slightly different design:

In fact, if I was in your place, and was looking for a local option, then any of the chairs on the top row of this page would do just fine for me:
https://www.amazon.com/Home-Office-Desk-Chairs/b?ie=UTF8&...

Do keep in mind that even at those prices, most of them are DIY packages. My new chair was too.

@Tasuki I just checked Best Buy, and they also sell the Serta line of luxury desk chairs, so if a Best Buy is close to you, then you might want to pick one up yourself, instead of ordering from Amazon. At the very least, you could use both sites to compare prices, and see which one is in your favor.

EDIT:
Here you go:

@Tyranexx Mowing on it's own I don't mind too much. It's most everything else I dislike. Trimming the hedges, weeding, trimming the edges of the lawn, etc... The hedges were especially annoying. That was a weekend job usually and we only had a few.

My allergies tend not to bother me much in spring or summer but when the leaves start falling and it rains and they start molding... that's when I get it.

Most commodities like chairs, unless their REALLY high end, are just sourced at Chinese product fairs. Dozens of distributors order the exact same product with just one or two changes to make it unique (or not) and sell it under their name. Should be able to find an almost identical one easy enough anywhere.

@thanosrexxx nice new addition! I wouldn't use one much but it definitely suits you given the convos we've had in certain rodential release threads for switch

@Tyranexx do the persimmon seeds have an app? Their results can't possibly be any worse than NWS, so I'm willing to give it a go.

NWS:. Make up a temperature within 15 degrees, and call for rain in each segment of each day, that way whenever it rains you can always say you called it!

NEStalgia

ThanosReXXX

@NEStalgia Oh, I'm not going to use it too much either, but I always wanted a "real" Neo Geo for the console collection, just not at the prices that the original consoles were going for, so this is a nice alternative, but it is more for collector purposes.

Although I must say that since I've owned it, which is five days now, I've played on it more than on the other Minis. Probably also due to the fact that I don't have to connect it to the TV, although that is also an option, and works better with the additional controllers that I bought with it.

On a side note: rodential release threads? What in the... ? Can't also remember we've ever extensively discussed Neo Geo games, unless it was in the ACA article comments sections, where I've usually done my best to educate and/or advice people on which titles to buy and which titles to steer clear of.
