@Eel Well, don't leave us hanging: what was it that you ordered, got refunded and now still got delivered for free?
@Tyranexx Yeah, nowadays we do understand a bit more about what attracts insects. Back in the day, we used to think that all insects were attracted by light instead of by the carbon dioxide that we give off, and around these parts, there used to be this kind of commonly accepted rumor that people that get stung more, probably have "sweet" blood...
That is also why I mentioned in my previous comment that they don't seem to like my blood. I know it's nonsense, but when you grow up with fairy tale wisdoms like that, some of it is bound to linger in the brain.

@ThanosReXXX now don’t laugh, but it was a shaker cup and a (way tinier than I imagined) bottle of energy drink powder. I got the idea late at night after watching a YouTube video. So yeah...
It’s one of those risks I take when I buy things from other countries, if they send them through traditional postage, without a company like DHL or the like, I am guaranteed to wait for it at least a few months, or never get it, at all.
5 years since I joined Nlife dudes!
2015 had some crazy speculation about the NX...and it was when Majora's Mask 3D came out.
A nintendo game I liked from that year in particular was Yoshi's Woolly World. Well, tbh I played the 3DS version which came out some years later. But I assume the base game is about the same with better graphics.
This blue eye perceives all things conjoined. The past, the future, and the present. Everything flows and all is connected. This eye is not merely seen reality. It is touching the truth. Open the eye of truth... There is nothing to fear.
@ThanosReXXX I've worked with (malaria) mosquitoes before, designing mosquito traps. You're right that they're attracted by carbon dioxide. The bait we used was a combination of carbon dioxide (although I believe we also had a successful one without the CO2), a heat element, and worn sock. Body odours are also an important factor, and I think that this may determine whether someone attracts more mosquitoes or not. After all, body odours differ from person to person.
@Eel Why would I laugh at that? As long as you didn't buy a sippy cup, it's perfectly normal, far as I'm concerned. And who doesn't engage in the odd impulse buy every now and then? I mean: did I really need that USB fan, or that remote-controlled light bulb that can emit all kinds of colors and patterns?
No, of course not, because I've already got a big standing fan and lights that actually work perfectly fine, and are also more useful than a disco-ball type of bulb, but they're fun to play with, nonetheless.
Once I was almost tempted by one of those bowls that can't spill: the so-called "gyro-bowl", actually also because of a YouTube video:
But luckily, I was able to restrain myself...
@Zuljaras Very nice, man. Although having first seen that more pinkish under-layer, it does come across as a bit more dull in color, but definitely nice nonetheless. I also love the detail and figures on the anvil, as well as the stitching on the clothes of the Cyclops.
@Octane Maybe it's also because of me having a regular diet of spicy and/or garlic-flavored food, or it could also be my weekly intake of Bacardi & Coke. Then again: maybe they just don't like Axe deodorant...

@ThanosReXXX I can see all of those things influencing your body odour, so it's possible..!
And if you drink enough, the alcohol levels in your blood can actually kill the mosquito
I'm serious, my supervisor back then told me of a story of another researcher who was working in Africa. He forgot to fed the mosquitoes (which you do by sticking your arm in the cage for 10 minutes or so every day), went to a party, and decided to feed them anyway later that night. Next day they were all dead.
@Octane Well, I don't drink THAT much. When I say "weekly intake", I mean 3 or 4 glasses on a Saturday night.
I don't drink alcohol on week or work days. But good to know either way. If I ever find myself in a country where mosquitoes ARE stinging me, I'll just rub Bacardi all over myself before going to sleep...
@ThanosReXXX Oh I'm only momentarily here. I ran out of "Two Chinese guys and an Ethiopian walk into a bar, and here's a fan rendering of it on a real N64" posts from Damo so I ended up here.
@ThanosReXXX Oh, just the usual NL editorial penchant for posting political hot button stories disguised as gaming stories and somehow thinking the comments won't become a poop storm even when they specifically say they'll make sure they won't, if you missed that little gem. I think they do it to mess with Octane.
Ireland...because of all the booz....oh nevermind.
@NEStalgia Ah, okay. For a minute there, I thought that you thought that Octane was from Ireland, but it seems
I focused on the wrong part of that sentence...
I'd still like to know how that joke ended, though.
And which article was that? The one about the Mario 64 PC clone, or what?
@ThanosReXXX Haha, you know the old adage once you have to explain the joke....
Oh it was the Nintendo World Store article. While the mention of something happening at a Nintendo building is indeed relevant the article inexplicably spent most of the article documenting every political hot potato of the past week, with detail links and a kind comment to please not get out of hand in the comments that inevitably went out of hand. What I saw actually stayed mostly ok, but I suspect that involved a lot of effort from Octane (and maybe Eel.) The comments were locked after that....which doesn't happen often when NL prods the tiger which shows how ridiculous the whole thing was.
@NEStalgia Ah, that one. Haven't even read it yet, kind of because I suspected what would happen, which you've now confirmed. But on the other hand: a bit of a catch 22 for NLife there. It IS Nintendo-related news, so they kind of had this professional obligation to report on it, but it's definitely a "damned if they do, damned if they don't" kind of thing.
