@Eel
Trivial things but i think monster design on Dragon Quest series was very Basic as drawn by Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball series).
I think the monster design on modern Final Fantasy have some cool / complex looking design.
Just take a look design of Dragon from Dragon Quest (Malroth for example) and compare with Bahamut on different Final Fantasy series (FF VIII, FF IX, FF X, FF XIII).
On talented artist hand, they can transform Ice Godess Shiva from Basic looking ice goddess on older Final Fantasy into very Unusual and Complex design of Ice goddess on FF XIII.
To be fair some final fantasy enemies and characters are over-designed. They try too much with all the belts, pieces of randomly colored fabric, extravagant hair, etc.
It's kinda interesting how Toriyama and Amano are like, polar opposites in terms of style.
@Link-Hero Thanks for the offer, but I don't have NSO, and considering this month's spendings, I don't think I'm going to buy it any time soon. Also because I'm not interested in its meager offerings in general.
And besides that, my Xbox Live Gold subscription is about to expire, so that will be renewed first.
@Anti-Matter Final Fantasy takes itself WAY too seriously, I completely agree with @Eel. The older games from 16 bit and the first following titles were really good, but later on, they got worse and worse, far as I'm concerned. Dragon Quest on the other hand, is fun to play, looks and feels like classic RPG's, which I prefer over the whole stylistic, "look at me being important in the world of RPG" style that Final Fantasy brings. Maybe they should take an example from Xenoblade Chronicles, on how to make an actually good story and interesting characters...
On a side note: in the Dragon Quest series, Puff-Puff is not so much a sexual thing at all, but rather a running joke throughout the series, which frequently changes up what is actually "given" to the player. And most of the time, it is DEFINITELY not the cheeky experience that you might expect.
In the latest Dragon Quest game, both Puff-Puff and Buff-Buff are just powers/skills, that you can gain, so that's even more innocent than it already was.
@Tyranexx Nice digging on the Wikipedia. That clears it up.
I’m going to watch that Defunkland episode. That’s a cool concept for a channel.
Yeah you need a partner in crime to tackle those coasters. No fun in going with the family if they aren’t into that sort of thing. Luring them with the prospect of paying 12 bucks for a funnel cake isn’t enough of an incentive I suppose 😛. Stuff is delicious though.
@ThanosReXXX Yeah Citizen Kane imagery in there as well. It’s cool how Rapture feel like a cohesive world, but not derivative of any one thing.
It’s a bit of a cult property (too much of a financial gamble for Hollywood), but I think Bioshock is one of the rare games that would work well as a movie or TV Series. It’s probably a bit too late now, but back in day it would’ve been cool.
@NotTelevision Yeah, it's an amalgam of several movies/ideas, and I actually think it could work very well as a series. Kind of like a horror version of Stargate Atlantis...

@Eel So... I got bit by a scorpion the other day... So much for your warning. I thought I could catch it with my flimsy net, but as I turned to swipe the net along the ground, it got me. Also already got stung by wasps two times. Oh, well. At least I got some Nook Miles out of that...

Hey does anybody know any good hiking spots/towns to visit on the east coast? I was going to go to California this summer but um obviously a global pandemic got in the way of that so now I'm going to have to drive somewhere relatively near. (I'm in N.C. so I'm in the middle if that helps)
I don't like Monster Hunter.

@ThanosReXXX They need to bring more variants of Dr Oetker pizzas to the UK, all we seem to get are the small thin Ristorante based ones, they taste great but I want something a bit more substantial from them...
@ThanosReXXX as a tip for scorpions, don't go around running with your bug net out at night, that will make them aggressive.
If you have other (or no) tool equipped, they will be completely docile, even shy.
Then you can equip the net and hold A while you move to slowly make your way towards them. They will just watch you, as long as you don't get too close or make any sudden movements.
@Eel Yeah, I definitely experienced what not to do on this first encounter. I'll make a note of that handy tip.
Still need one more addition to the collection for Blathers...
@WiltonRoots They don't have those Big Americans in the UK, then? That's a bummer, because they are the best ready-made pizzas, far as I'm concerned, and they come in 5 flavors.
EDIT:
Okay, I was a bit too hasty with posting that pizza reply, because after only a minute of searching, I've found out that in the UK (and the US), the "Big Americans" brand pizzas from Dr. Oetker are sold under their Chicago Town "Stuffed Crust Takeaway" brand, so different label, but basically the exact same pizza. The slices of pepperoni do seem to be bigger, though...
@WoomyNNYes Howdy! Just left the NASA town hall, don't know if you heard but they finally got JWST to fold to launch config, so they are going to begin launch simulation testing.

@ThanosReXXX ah that makes sense... Chicago Town are everywhere over here. Funnily enough I just had one earlier, a triple cheesy stuffed crust but I added mushrooms. I think I’ll have some vivid dreams tonight!
@WiltonRoots Problem solved then. So, whenever you see me mentioning something about Big Americans, and feel like joining in, just get yourself a Chicago Town pizza, and you'll be sorted.

My copy of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition finally showed up earlier. I unfortunately won't get around to playing it today due to quite a bit of adulting and some yardwork in a little while. Now that the temps and rain amounts have both shot through the roof, my lawn is acting like it's on super fertilizer. I don't mind some of my flowers and bushes sitting around, but I'd love to slap whoever came up with the idea of a lawn of glorified weeds grass.
You all might not hear from me much for a couple of days after I start playing XC. Plus, I need a short social media break again. Just some advance warning.
@Heavyarms55 Raiding is one of my favorite things to do in Pokemon Go (and, heck, I've enjoyed it in most non-related games that have it), so I suspect it'll be a similar story whenever I do pick up one of the two Gen 8 games. Five star Mewtwo sounds similar to normal raid bosses vs. EX raid bosses, or even in comparison to Darkrai (who was technically tier six) vs. most other tier fives. I know that in my local PoGo group's Discord channel that there's a designated area to coordinate raids, trading, battles, etc. in the mainline games that sees some activity too.
That'll be interesting as I'm normally a solo player in most situations, but I don't have a problem playing a game with someone as long as they're local or if I know them well. Hopefully online randoms (if the game even allows it) are better than in some other games I've played....
@ThanosReXXX Yep, pants and decent walking shoes are the bare minimum. Long-sleeved shirts are also a must if you're planning on tromping through undergrowth. And, now that they're starting to show up, bug spray. I don't want to think of what'll happen if mosquitoes ingest Mad Titan blood....
...Although if it causes them to explode, maybe leave the bug spray in the vehicle?
On an unrelated note: They're starting to allow a few more activities in my state now, so I may start trying to plant that day trip down south to Metropolis again.
@NotTelevision I can usually lure them with shows and quieter rides lol. Most of my family either doesn't care for coasters or legit can't ride them anymore due to health issues. My brother used to be a fair weather ride buddy until he started having back issues. I don't want him riding them if they'll only aggravate his condition. My sister will sometimes ride them, but she's very picky about the coasters she'll get on; she doesn't like going upside-down, for example. Even though I've tried to tell her that most steel coasters are quite smooth these days....
There's a friend I can contact to try and arrange a Cedar Point trip, if only to see if she's interested. Unfortunately, with the global situation coupled with some other issues in the USA right now, I don't think said trip will happen anytime soon.
Hey, @Ryu_Niiyama. Heck yeah. The James Webb Space Telescope is so damn exciting. Doesn't it have gold coated mirrors to see infrared too? Correct me if I'm wrong. (For anyone else reading, seeing infrared means seeing farther in space than ever before.) Did they give a new estimated launch date? Granted it could change. Thank you very much for sharing
@WoomyNNYes So far the launch date is unchanged as in uhkindasorta2021maybe...unless the sunshield rips (again, but hey they finally got it to fold so that is some progress) during the launch scenario testing.
And yes the mirrors are beryllium (Be) and coated with a super thin coating of pure gold of about 100 nanometers to aid in reflecting IR better. There will likely be an update in a few months based on the testing.
Edit: Spelled out Be. I can't be bothered...in Astronomy anything heavier than Hydrogen or Helium is a heavy metal. (astronomers...a chemist's worst nightmare.)

@Tyranexx Ah, so we may finally see those up to date pictures of the Man of Steel statue...
As for bugs biting me: maybe US bugs are different, but in general, my blood doesn't seem tasty or likeable to stinging insects anymore: at most, I only get one or two mosquito bites, if at all. Last couple of years, I've had none, and I've not been using any bug spray or lemon candles or what have you. Don't have a screen door either.
So, yeah, I actually might just kill some bugs with my blood. Or perhaps it's not nutritious enough, which is why they've collectively decided to leave me alone. At the very least, it'll give them a bad taste in their mouths/snouts...
