Yeah, that's the bit they quoted in the lists, too, @ThanosReXXX..... Which I found funny it is in several such lists, so I guess I'm the weirdo as usual
Ooh, I recognise HG quote..... Event Horizon
@ThanosReXXX oh they have meatballs, for sure. But they also have alot more. They feature meatballs, But the smoked salmon is really good, and the pizza is more or less "cafeteria food."
@ThanosReXXX - I edited in a comment to you on 43,492. I definitely didn’t dilute the one hit wonder conversation. Maybe it’s a cultural thing, but Don McClean is known as one of the most obvious one hit wonders in these parts. I don’t think any of the songs that were provided as his other “hits” even charted, and I’m pretty sure that not even a Don McClean super fan could name 10 of his songs off the top of their head, much less sing the lyrics to them.
@BruceCM - They Might Be Giants had a decent little run here in the states during the irreverent alternative era that proceeded grunge. One hit wonder isn’t definable, it’s basically determined by the cultural zeitgeist and will thereby vary from culture to culture. I only know what was playing on the radio in the states, and the term itself is as antiquated as top 20 radio.
@BruceCM Well... it could also be argued that the BBC is the weirdo. After all: what do they know about good music?
I also can't help but wonder what it did to her, because she must surely have known, and such things aren't good for one's confidence, especially when you're so in the public eye all the time.
P.S.
HG quote? If you're talking about the Dr. Weir quote, then that's from Stargate Atlantis. It might be inspired by H.G. Wells, if that's who you meant by that, but the dropping of the name Dr. Weir already made that quite clear.
@NintendoByNature So, they do have meat balls, but are they the SWEDISH kind? Otherwise, it isn't a real IKEA...
@bimmy-lee That may well be, but the point I'm making, is that he isn't REALLY a one-hit wonder. I'm not one who goes with the stream, so what the general public thinks about that, well... I think you can easily fill in my sentiments on that. I'm a facts guy, even though I am also one to lean towards sentiments, but only when appropriate.
Oh, and all that people would need to remember, or recite, is two songs, which already nullifies the whole ONE hit wonder thing...
I guess that nowadays, I'm also more used to, and/or influenced by the Dutch way of thinking and speaking, which in many ways, is FAR more literal. Both in meaning of words, as in the demeanor of the people themselves. So, when they talk about a one hit wonder, then it's LITERALLY an artist who only had one song and who subsequently disappeared into oblivion. Not an artist who kept making music and had some more hits, even though they weren't all top 40 ones...
As for your edit on importing food items: well, I've got a few more years to consider it, but I guess I'm leaning towards "don't do it", for the moment, but I'll look into it when more applicable. It's still gonna be a while before this whole theory of a meet up will actually become a reality anyways.
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@ThanosReXXX yea they're the Swedish kind. I have the sauce packet in my cabinet right now, although i forgot the name. We make it on occasion.
But if i have to pick, a giant home made Italian meatball with huge garlic chunks, romano cheese, seasoning and bread crumb is more my style. Of course, with gravy (red sauce) poured all over 😜
Edit: have you checked out the discounts and deals thread? I know you are always one to grab some deals, so it might be worth checking out. Im the OP so i frequent there often. Sorry to switch gears, just thought id let you know.
@NintendoByNature Ah, don't get me wrong: it's not like I actually like or prefer Swedish meat balls, I was just wondering. I also rather make my own, instead of those prefabs...
As for those discounts: well... I kinda spent a lot of money today already. I was kinda lucky to have still managed to grab a reasonable final bonus a couple of months ago, which was now finally transferred to my bank account, and from that, I bought some necessary stuff, and some more not so necessary stuff, some of which I will be uploading pictures from, when it all arrives on my doorstep...
And I still have to get Animal Crossing as well, and one or two other triple A games, about which I'm currently still not sure which one to go for. I actually want them all, but I don't want to go overboard. Spent a couple of hundred already today, and seeing as this will be my last bonus EVER, as an independent contractor, I'd better keep some semblance of responsibility, especially in these "no work" times...
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@BruceCM Hm, odd. I actually have seen that movie, albeit a LONG time ago, so I didn't even remember anymore that there was also a dr. Weir in that one. I think I'd still prefer this one, though:
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@NintendoByNature So... I took a peek after all, but I really didn't see all that much of interest. And 49.99 for Xenoblade Chronicles Deluxe Edition isn't exactly my idea of cheap. I usually pick up deals for anything below 30 bucks, but for triple A and/or first party titles, I only check out physical editions, so I never look at digital downloads for those, let alone for discounts, because even that can't sway me from wanting to have them in physical form.
I will check out if the Touryst is still cheap, though, because that one was already on my list. Other than that, maybe Night Trap, for the novelty value, depending on if the prices for both games are similarly cheap in the EU store, otherwise it's a no on both counts.
On a side note: if you feel a desperate need to be Rick-rolled, I'd be more than willing to post a sneaky link to a video...
@ThanosReXXX understood. A newly released triple A( although remaster) with additional content at 49.99 at launch is a deal to me at least. But i get what you're saying. If you watch the topic, youll see good deals roll thru often that might grab your attention. Night trap was recently on sale in NA.. but I didn't grab it. Cosmic star heroine is on sale for like 1.49 and i had a great time with it. It's digital though.
As for being Rick rolled, I ended up rolling my friend since it crossed my mind. He loved it lol
@NintendoByNature Well, games like Cosmic Star Heroine are ONLY available in digital form, most of the time, and they are indies, so for those, I make exceptions. I've got plenty of them already.
And it's not like I don't think that the discounts aren't real deals, it's just that it's irrelevant to me, because discount or not, I'll never get big titles in digital form anyway, because of my preference for physical. Basically, the rule is: if I want a game, and it's available in physical form, then that takes precedence over ANY and all other things, discounts included. I'll gladly pay the additional cost, in exchange for all the added benefits.
On a side note: I actually do keep tabs of that thread, and have even contributed to it a while back, but usually, there's not much in there that I'm interested in, and I've already added tons of games to my wish list on the Switch eShop, so if they go on a discount, I'll get notified anyway. But thanks for the tip, regardless.
